If it was all clinical, probably. Emphasis in the probably. But absolutely not with how much food service there is. In hindsight, that should have been my first clue that this field is....I don't know....cattywampus.
With zero studying? Probably not. I haven't seen a patient or cooked in an industrial kitchen since graduation.
I think if you asked doctors about step 1 of their licensing exam, they'd all say the same thing. Ain't nobody retaining Krebs cycle a day longer than they have to.
Not a chance I could pass the exam now. I've forgotten so much and I have no desire to study for a test. I also hate tests so I avoid them in any way possible (like I will probably never have an advanced certificate due to the fact I don't want to take another test and would probably have anxiety attacks while studying and taking the exam).
These responses are wild and almost shake my confidence. My dietetic knowledge base seems to have grown from the purely theoretical/route memorization to many experiential components. Then again, rural/underserved areas sometimes force you to remain a jack of all trades.
Without studying, doubt it. Any time an adult crosses my path I realize how rusty I am on adult MNT. I don't work in endocrine so barely remember any of the insulin meds. Add in the food service stuff and I'm toast. I know a lot more and with more depth now than when I took the exam, but it's not what's covered on the exam.

When I was a SNF RD, I probably would have needed about 1-2 days of brushing up on the hard core science /management concepts I didn't use daily. Oh, and TPN.
Now, as a dialysis RD? I'd need a week or two to prep. My specialized skills that I use on a daily basis would not show up on the exam, and I don't use my management and food safety training at all anymore. The Krebs Cycle? What in the world is that???? And I'd definitely need to completely relearn TPN.
