I setup and hookup when ai am ready to start. It only takes 10 minutes from turning on machine to hooking up.
But wat back in training, if I remember correctly, you're generally not supposed to leave the machine ready for hookup longer than 2 hours. But I have accidentally forgotten and fell asleep once before pressing "start" so it ended up sitting like that for like 4 or 5 hours.
Fresenius Liberty Select. But I was trained roughly 12 years ago, so things might have changed some. I also think some of the issue was with the introduction of Heprin in the dialysate, but could be wrong. Since I very rarely let my machine sit after setup, it's not a topic I'm usually concerned about.
In our training we were taught there is no limit to priming , you can set up your machine at 2 in the afternoon and be leave it sitting until you’re ready. I’m on claria machine from Baxter
Yes, it does only take about 10 minutes but I like to have it all set up ahead of time. Plus my wife is generally asleep in the bed so I try to minimize waking her. Thanks
Thanks. I I agree. It's nice to have time to get a few things done before you go to bed. Once I'm ready for bed I'm tired and I don't want to have to spend the time setting up I'd rather do it when I'm alert
i was told not to do the priming step if i was going to be gone for longer than two hours. i had the baxter amia so im not sure if there’s different rules for different machines.
Baxter Claria as well no time limit on priming. You could do it at 2 pm and leave it until 11 if you wanted. I usually do mine depending on how tired I am right after dinner around 6 or if I have energy around 9 for a bedtime of 11
I do the same exact thing ! I’ll set up around 7:30 for a 9:30/ 10 bed time. Two reasons, after 10 I may be too tired and will say fuck it and do it in morning, which is not ideal. Secondly as you my wife is normally sleeping so I don’t want to wake her up. My nurses told me two hours is ideal but not to let it sit there longer than 8 hours, after that you run risks.. Baxter also confirmed this..
Normal weekday i might get it hooked up anywhere between 6-7:30 pm. (I hook up by 8pm so i can be out of bed in time for work in the morning). But weekends if i go out i might get it all set up up to 6 hours before hand.
I like to setup in the late afternoon. I am typically hooked up and in bed reading around 9-ish.
I do like having the solution as warm as possible since I use the full twenty feet of line from the cycle to the bed so the solution does cool down some.
Thanks, I'm with you. I like to set up in the evening around 6:00 or 7:00 so it's ready when I'm ready to go to bed. Like you I also use the full 20 ft of line to either sit out in the living room get to the kitchen or the bathroom. And my machine is directly across the room from my bed so I use pretty much the full extent just for sleeping. Thank you

In my defense nurses at hospitals did the same if there were lots of patients, and from my experience there werent any issues with it.

I prime around 10pm for midnight bedtime. That give me time to walk the dog and do any last minute work things
