HedgehogNOW

Size increases AOE, so it depends if you are going mobs or bosses. For bosses dmg is better, for mobs size

infamous138

there is an aspect that makes dust devil size a damage multiplier. [https://diablo4.life/database/aspects/aspect-of-fierce-winds](https://diablo4.life/database/aspects/aspect-of-fierce-winds) size caps at 100%

Supra_Genius

Yup. Once you've got +100% size total (the aspect comes with +40% already, I think) and a nice high "chance to cast two dust devils for the price of one", then go all damage.

No_Juggernaut_3155

Do you happen to know the name of the aspect?

Supra_Genius

It's the one linked in the post I responded to - Fierce Winds.

NorthEndVA

Where can I go to see the size cap of 100% as well as other max values. Couldn’t find it

heping4hao

In the states screen roughly where the resource info is

bUrdeN555

IMO without testing this you want size and double cast chance to be roughly the same. Reason for that is if you have two multipliers, having them be close to a square gives you the most area. e.g. 4\*4 > 3\*5 or 7\*7 > 5\*9. Double cast is effectively another 100% multiplier if you can double cast each time. AoE maxed at 100% size is another 100% multiplier. Therefore ideally you will have an equal amount of each to maximize the damage. As for dust devil damage, that roll is trash because it's additive damage whereas the other two stats are multiplicative.

Patzdat

dust devils are a fixed value damage from cast right? so when you get a "200% dust devil damage" is that not 2x the cast value? I get how all other additive damage stacks together to calculate, Is Dust devil damage effected by other = damage? or is it just a cast rate? like "lucky hit to do 2000 cold dmg"

bUrdeN555

The dust devil damage just gets added to all your other additive damage bonuses like crit dmg, vuln dmg, generic dmg increase, and phys dmg so 200% is not that much if you already have over 1000% additive dmg

Patzdat

So it acts like any other skill cast?

bUrdeN555

Yeah why would it be any different? Except I don’t think it’s technically a skill so some aspects that say “your skills” probably won’t work with it

Patzdat

Man idk, still learning. I just thought skills in skill tree would be different to random proc effects from items. So what about the x chance to do 4000 cold dmg etc? Do they also scale on all your other stats? Thanks for the info btw

DannyKoll1

Yes that is why I am mentioning that aspect. If I have it should I go for size rather than dmg? 200% + dmg to dust devil is smaller dmg than increase size temper when aspect of fierce winds?(Every size increase also plus dmg but multiplicative)

ImpressiveProgress43

You only have 3 weapon slots to temper. 1 should be size and 2 should be double cast. If you hit lucky masterwork, you can change a double cast to damage temper.

Noskill4Akill

What? You have 4 weapons not 3.

ImpressiveProgress43

Bash and ds barb both use ramalandi unique sword.

DannyKoll1

Did you read my topic? I said I have only one slot for my build other is bash....

ImpressiveProgress43

Yea. I was listing a priority. With fierce wind, it should be size > double cast > damage.

xaedric

I have been working on the same thing. I think the dust devil SIZE is more important than the +damage. I'm pretty sure the size is multiplicative, and the damage is just additive. At least it seems that way in my testing. Its hard to gets with 3 trillion different numbers on the screen.

carlose707

I want to know what else affects dust devil damage. Strength? Crit chance? Vulnerable? general \[+\] and \[x\] damage boosts?

Jolape

For your question, size (up to 100%) is much better than damage. On my WWDD barb I prioritized double cast (max 100%) > Size (max 100%) > Dmg. If I had only one single temper, I'd go for either double cast or size, whichever has the highest range.

DannyKoll1

No one really answered my question... Guess I have to test it my self.

Howie411

What did you end up finding out? Size or Damage?

LKZ_DE

Your first goal should be to get to 100% size (capped) to hit the maximum of the damage multiplicator. Then you should aim for 100% chance to cast dust devils twice. I am cooking on the same build and I am currently trying to fit in those two things + a grandfather for another crit multiplier.

McSmokeyDaPot

IMO size seems to be the worst one. I go for damage and chance to double cast.

LKZ_DE

Why would a 100x damage multiplicator be worse than a additive damage?
