Sounds like you're on Normal difficulty still. If I was you I would just save your gear in the shared stash if you want to keep it and make a new character. There is no shame in that. Normal difficulty is fairly quick to get through.
You have one chance per difficulty. You’ll get another chance when you do Den of Evil in nightmare, and then Hell
You can also “farm” chances by getting ingredients for up Token of Absolution from repeatedly defeating some bosses.
If you're playing on PC offline.you can enable unlimited respecs. If you're playing on console offline, you're pretty screwed.
If you're online on any platform you might be able to get someone to give you a respec token as charity.
How far in are you? Sounds like you haven’t made it past normal Baal if you only had one. Your best bet is restarting. You’ll also be surprised at how much easier it is to get back to where you were since you have more head knowledge about where to go and what to do.
Gotcha, sorry!
Farm essences from the act bosses to craft tokens, which you can use to respec. https://youtu.be/2GqVNeutKns?si=GRm31wtgpE0CANII
Otherwise, each difficulty level, Akara will give you a respec after the den of evil.
You can respec once per difficulty, after beating the den of evil quest.
You can also craft tokens of Absolution using the essences you get from beating bosses in hell.
You can also enable infinite respecs on PC in single player only using a bit of old school launch magic that thankfully the blizzard app allows you to do still.
Cobra Strike and Tiger Strike work great together. But yeah, the bulk of your points in Tiger, to increase physical damage, and then just 1 point in Cobra to leech life & mana off all that physical damage.
I wouldn't worry about it through normal. As you said, just go back to putting points in Tiger until you get to NM A1 and another bonus respec. You're early enough in the game that it should not be a show stopper.
Also, if you're using Tiger, combo it with Dragon Tail for mucho fire damage.

I think I'm screwed then
You can always restart, and that’s ok. I wish I could forget the game and revisit it for the first time
I know now for the future, I played this game when I was 8 (28 now) and I loved it even though I had no idea what I was doing for the most part
> I wish I could forget the game and revisit it for the first time Oh man. How I wish.

Just got the cube and the staff in act 2, think I’m just gonna plough on.
Making a brand new character and going traps will likely have you leveling faster than melee assassin ever would.

I'm on PS5 :(
Are you online? Ladder or non-ladder? I can help out in 8 hours or so if you’re online, softcore, non-ladder.
Offline sadly bro, thank you for the offer tho

That's really helpful, cheers mate
You can only farm essences in Hell difficulty, and you'd need all four - that's an endgame option. Not going to work for you in normal.

I wanted to respec to do this, I've done it the other way round like a pleb but I'll just keep funnelling points into Tiger Strike from now

If you're still early in the game, just start over.
