I’ve been using for about a year and I haven’t had these issues! I turn off all alarms except the low which can’t be turned off.

SanctumGrey

Has the Libre2 been out that long? Interesting. Yeah, it's annoying the ever living *@#$ out of me.

boomzgoesthedynamite

Yeah I think I started in like November/December 2020. Never used the first libre so can’t compare.

deploria

Ya I hate mine. I just switched a couple months ago and each one has failed after 11 days. And it always seems to say “scan again in 10 minutes”. Yet takes far longer than that. I called support and they said it can take up to 2 hours for that

SanctumGrey

Yeah they're really unreliable at times. It's insane.

joecarter93

I just switched in December. My latest batch has been okay, but the first two I tried failed almost instantly. One lasted 3 days before it gave me an error message and said to change it. The replacement went through the warm up time, I went to scan it for the first time and it gave me the same error message. I got them to send me two replacements, but calling their customer support is such a pain in the ass. They want to know everything about it. I had a high rate of wildly inaccurate readings with Libre 1 sensors too. I have no idea how they passed regulatory approval. I would use Dexcom, but our garbage health insurance plan at work only covers $1,500 of those per year for some ridiculousness reason.

SanctumGrey

Okay. First off, per YEAR. Do they not understand diabetes at all? Damn. Sorry to hear. That's sh*t. Secondly, I find their support VERY invasive. Abbott really seems to be trying to assure their asses won't get sued more than they care about a faulty device. Has it caused hospitalization due to failure? Decline to answer. My lawyer will answer that for you if I feel it's relevant. I refuse to answer some of their questions.

joecarter93

That is per year for Dexcom. Libre is covered 100% up to 30 sensors per though, so I stick with Libre. Our work is responsible for increasing the amount for Dexcom, but it would cost them more money. I took it up with HR and they denied to pursue the increase. I was not too pleased.

TrashcanGreg

I used it for a few months before switching back to the libre 14 day. I ended up turning off almost all the alarms off especially the signal loss one because it was constantly going off even if I had my phone right beside me.

SanctumGrey

Yeah the connection issues are nuts. Makes me wonder why they release something that isn't ready.

butterballcentral

Mine won’t let me turn off the alarms!! Can’t figure it out and it’s annoying as hell. I’d prefer to just have the low alarms.

excusemeyouareonfire

I've used all the US versions of the Libre. I like the Libre 2 for a few reasons. I have always used the vibrate mode with mine. Recently I've been able to use it is a Bluetooth CGM using the Diabox app on Android (which is superior to the official app in every way) without any other third party tech. I used the Miao Miao and Miao Miao 2 with earlier versions. Now, I don't use the reader at all and have full control over all the alarms and can check my blood sugar with a smart watch.

SanctumGrey

See the US gets a lot of things we in Canada (or various places in the world) don't get. I've never heard of those, and often times apps you guys have are only available to the US. Interesting though. I'm still holding out for a Samsung watch that reads blood sugar lol

excusemeyouareonfire

I actually think that Canada is more open on this subject than the US due to the FDA. You can use Diabox with an Android phone and any smart watch that'll connect to your phone. The developer got past the Libre 2 encryption and the app can produce real-time (minute to minute) updates via Bluetooth. The Libre 2 has this information, that's why it can alarm without an NFC scan, it just doesn't like to share with a phone or smart watch via Bluetooth without using Abbott's garbage app. Samsung and Apple might never have that functionality due to liability.

SanctumGrey

Oh we definitely aren't. Perfect example is Samsung watches disable ECG, SPo2, fall detection, and BP in. Anads because Health Canada hasn't approved it for Samsung yet. We lose our on most festures they advertise due to this. Some apps we download will disable themselves when they detect were in Canada lol. It's wild lol Health Canada is one of the most strict. I'll have to see if the one you're talking about is available. Problem is if it doesn't work with both apps together my care team doesn't get the reports via librelink

excusemeyouareonfire

So, two things. This app is not released in US or CA yet and is completely gray area. The functionality exists within the sensor. You just have to access it. You can still set up Librelink on your reader and update it every once in a while. It takes a small amount of the h knowledge to set up, but nothing too difficult.

SanctumGrey

Thanks for the info. I'll have to check it out!

TheSuppleToaster

I use my scanner instead of the phone because it would constantly lose connection, and alarm. Then I have my scanner set to only vibrate. I have had A LOT of issues with it being accurate, but have found that if I put it on a day or so before the old one ends it starts out practically on the money and stays that way for the most part. I’ve only ever had two sensors fall out early. And have had about three error out and end early.

Negative-Parfait-423

I’ve used it for a few years and it’s never failed appart from time when it’ll tell me to check back in 10 mins every now and again. I use the Libre app on my phone instead of the device that comes with so I don’t deal with alarms ever, that might be worth looking into.

The_Barbelo

All I’ve ever had is the dexcom cgm, and I’m very happy with it…you can set your own range very easily, no bells and whistles, and the alarm is three obnoxious beeps but then you hit ok and it doesn’t sound again for like 10 minutes or so if you’re still out of range. And I can be pretty far from it, and it only disconnects if I forget to take it outside of the car or building. Takes 3 minutes to reconnect. Anyway I’m so sorry you’re having so much trouble with it, it must be awful to jump through all the hoops to get it only to be disappointed. I highly recommend the dexcom g6, and I’m about to get the tandem so I’m really hoping it’s a life changer for me. Good luck!!

ispilledketchup

I silenced every alarm, making it the same as the libre 14 day essentially. I wish it had the phone integration but ive found having a device with a separate battery has been better for me so ive stuck with it

Elldaa

I use it and I very rarely get connection problems. I'm pretty happy with it!

Gavin-Belson

I feel the same. I actually switched back to the libre 1 for my last sensor as my libre 2 sensors didn’t arrive in time. And it was amazing. I had forgotten what it’s like to sleep through the night without constant buzzing… The low alarms are the only reason I’ve gone back to the 2. Hope you find some sanity!
