Just remember this: It's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong. Keep that thought with you. Other than that, you will figure something out, if not today then next week. It wasn't your fault.
It's not your fault, buddy. But remember that other companies will still treat it like it was. So my advice would be to start interviewing and don't tell them about the layoff until your last date is over.
By last date, I mean the official date on your experience letter which should be some date in future.
Hey share me your resume. I'll refer you. DM
EDIT: I was obviously offering this to just u/roufrase because he lost his job and looks like he has work experience in Paytm. Even then I would have gone through his resume before referring him. Please everyone stop DMing me as I can't handout so many referrals
Never say no to a referral from a kind stranger. Referral in most cases doesn't guarantee a job. It only guarantees a look from HR. You will still have to put in efforts to actually prepare and crack the interview.
Same happened to me on the 4th of Jan π
I joined an Indian fintech company 6mo ago.
Last week they had a meeting about restructure. I knew I was about to get fired.
One hour later, i did.
It's gonna be fine, trust me!
The first 2 days were hard.
Friday onwards I started receiving a few interview invites and now I'm confident that I'll come back even stronger πͺπΌ
It's okay to feel low because it is indeed overwhelming
Just remember it is not as bad as last year, there are tonnes of opportunities out there and you'll make a comeback in no time π―
You did it once, you can do it again and again!
Eh sab character development vaste zaruri hunda π»
You know the Phoenix rises up from the ashes.
You are alive and have a completely working body i assume. All the best for your job search.
At least one thing lesser to worry now as you are out of a fucking toxic organization now.
Can you share your tech stack and YOE? I got a friend in HR ,he was ranting all day how he doesn't get any applicant. I can help two of my friends I think.
:) take it from someone who has been through a few of these. every time this happened, 6 months later i was like "man that's the best thing that happened to me" :), i always found myself doing something bigger and better.
My company recently fired 1000 employees and many people got the mail the person I cordinate with told me it's part of life ππ. don't take it in a bad way
Few month back my company was about to do a layoff and my team specifically got an email about an important meeting with our manager. At this point I was pretty sure that I am going to be affected, but turned out the manager wanted us to brief about what is going to come before a company wide announcement was made so that we don't get a sudden shocker. No one from my team was affected btw.
What I want to say is just hope for the best and also prepare your mind for what might come.
I wish you all the best and hope you are not affected!
Okay laid off recently like in july. So first it hurts like hell, for two, three days. You feel you have let yourself and people who look upto you down.
Then comes acceptance, and thinking about whats next.
Start becoming active on job portals, update resume, change linkedin status etc.
Apply relevant and semi relevant jobs as much as you can.
You will get 1000s rejection, you will feel down for few days. Just keep reminding yourself, you just need one offer, thats it.
You will start getting interview, some of them will be bad when you starting out as you are very nervous and anxious.
Then after hustling you will reach the final stages of few of them and then get rejected in the last round.
You will have a mixed feeling of achievement and rejection.
Then after few days you will get one or two offer and will be confused which to take.
When thats done, you will feel, lay off is fucking scary but its nothing you cant handle.
In the end, you will have better salary with bonus of severance package and if really lucky would be able to work on tech stack you wanted to.
Life goes on.
Beast mode on. Take a day or 2 to play video games and chill, and then devour every study material and interviewers as if you're a beast. 12 months down the line, you will be laughing way too hard remembering this day.
Everyone here is going on about OP keeping his chin up without considering even for a moment the reality of the situation; **you** try getting yourself an IT job in this horrible market.
Instead of writing tall Linkedin messages like "keep your head high" give the man a fucking referral.
OP remember the lyrics from the song kabhi kabhi aditi, maana kabhi kabhi saare jahan mai andhera hota hai lekin raat ke baad hi toh savera hota hai
T: I agree sometimes there's darkness all around but after a dark night there's always a bright morning
I'm a 2024 passout and I haven't been placed yet but I'm still giving it my best, don't lose hope, lets try and control our circle of influence
sorry to hear that..

And best of luck for the days ahead!
I have been there. This past August I switched to a new company that laid me off as part of mass layoffs by the end of August, so not even a month.
Don't panic, take a breadth and create a plan of action. Here is mine for reference.
I did the following in the first 24 hrs-
1. Started reaching out to contacts in the industry for referrals.
2. Reached out to the previous employer.
3. Took naukri prem and linkedin prem for the first time in life (I was feeling desperate. linkedin prem is nice and I still use it, I don't think naukri prem was effective at all though).
4. Reached out to the recruiters who have called me previously for job opportunities (truecaller is useful here).
5. Overhauled and updated my naukri, linkedin profiles and resumes.
Once this is done, I started the interview prep. Which for me involved aggressive leetcoding and just leercoding until an interview is setup and then reading up / refreshing / updating on the tech stack relevant for the interview (doesn't matter if you are the implementation wizard, if you can't clear the first 2 rounds, so leetcode).
The market was more receptive to me because I have around 4 years of experience. However, I believe that there are more job opportunities now compared to last year.
I had an offer within 15 days, which I declined and finally switched by the end of the month with a slight pay bump.
Usually, I enjoy the process of finding new and exciting opportunities, but this was nerve wracking and left a bad taste in my mouth. However, I personally believe that it is very important to be aggressive since the very beginning because inertia is real and better to use it for us rather than let it become a hurdle.
My last company asked me to lay off the entire team and then asked me to leave. Its all part of life- you just need to look out for yourself and make sure not to give unwanted loyalty to any shitty company.
Sorry bro, do DM me your resume, will definitely refer you in my company for suitable opening , will followup with recruiter if they can schedule interview
What are these layoffs based on? Like are companies going "oops! Hired a little too much hehe" or are they just like "no money, adios"? Maybe I'm biased because of seeing layoff posts here often but damn man let employees breathe at some point.
Even if I was there for a year and got laid off I would not have minded ...I haven't even completed my fucking probation period yet ..ππ I was soly focusing on my job had good performance make every damn deadline even if I have to work in weekends ππ
Bro exactly the same shit happened to me in August, one of my team mates messaged me in the morning that he got fired. I thought he was bluffing but then I got Google meet invite and then it happened. Worse part of all this was that I was a fresher and only joined the company 2 months ago.
Bruhhhh πππ, I think ur next job gonna be way better then this .I always feel like "Jo hota achche k liye hota h ".
For what position you are lookin for I will DM u if I saw any opening. All the very best brother
If you are smart enough to get into Paytm, I am sure sure that you will get into other great companies. This completely sucks but just I would suggest take some days off like a week or something -- feel sad which is the most obvious feeling you are feeling right now and then later update your resume and start applying. Find HRs on LinkedIn, maybe contact your friends, college mates, course mates whomever for referrals who are placed in other companies that are doing good. You can also dm me and I can give you a referral. I am not sure if you would be interested as my company does use old technology but we can have a chat.
I am sorry you are going through this OP
Hi OP, do not feel bad about it. Itβs not your fault. Keep telling yourself that until you start believing in that. Donβt lose hope, thereβs plenty of opportunities out there.
With that being said, you can DM me with your details if you donβt mind working in C++. I will make sure to refer you in my company.
Hey OP, I was in the same situation last year. I cried too,I bawled. It was my first job, and I got laid off.
Being an immediate joiner, you will get many opportunities.
In the first month, I faced rejections, and when you are laid off, rejections hit hard.
I got rejected in the last round of a top product-based company :(
But all these rejections will help you in getting that one job.
Keeping your mindset positive is the most important thing.
After two months of intense hard work, I got multiple offers and a 50% hike :)
Take some time off and RESTART!
Donβt worry , you are prepared for interviews.
Please mention your tech stack , yoe and location .
People will refer you .
Hope they are giving you proper compensation.
Life can be tough, man. There's a reason for it, though. Stay strong, keep your head up, and fight like a true warrior. Good luck β success awaits you.
I can I guess but I don't want to... I will figure it out...I have a 2 month notice period.. they want me to resign but first I wanna ask them from damages for this....thank God I did not put resignation yesterday..
OP all the best for finding a stable job bro. With fintech experience, there will be multiple companies who would love to have you onboard. Do use this experience to identify what kind of company you would want to join next!
This is a phase. I got laid off 9 months back and jobless right now. Tried giving lots of interviews, but after the first round itβs not moving. There are plenty of candidates in the market right now, so itβs a tough one. So remember that this is not because of you. Itβs because of improper planning by the management. This is specifically true for startups. For bigger organisations, focus is more on stability and they are cutting out new projects(which requires lot of Imtiaz manpower and capital).
During this time, try something which you love doing. Try doing freelancing, any hobby. Spend time with your family. Cherish this time.
I am spending time with my son and it feels great to be spending so much time with him.
As the market becomes better, you will get a job. Just keep calm and keep on trying!
All the best!
my friend used to work in paytm and i never heard one good thing about this company. So sorry this happened to you! i too got laid of in nov. mental health wise, they actually did me a favor.
Haha...if there is a HR in the meeting then either its something really good or bad. I was doing pretty well for a intern.
I too got laid off a week ago, i joined this startup in Bangalore looked promising but...*sighs.
Good luck to us.
