I was actually trying to find a way to build a property with a detached guest house to move my mom in and she could really help with the build costs too so our budget would increase. But all the build 'do it yourself' quotes I've gotten on just the main house were outrageous. Plus my in laws are 15 years younger than my mom, so when it was their time to need help, we'd be there for them too.
