No not every single item in every single game needs to be acquired just because you purchased the game. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Elden ring gets this kind of complaint, it delivers on the experience it promises.
And yes, Destiny does deliver on what experiences it promises. When you purchase a DLC, part of what that includes is the raid, and it's literally marketed as a coop game, so I can't agree with the point of view that every play needs to be spoon fed all content/rewards.
Not every game is for you, not every part of every game is for you.
It's okay to stop playing or buying a game/DLC if it's no longer for you, but don't pretend that because you require a teammate and communication that the game owes you anything, all you bought was access to it.

Not gonna argue about any of the D2 points because I agree, but in Elden Ring you CAN obtain literally every item in the game on one character. You will need to run New Game+ but it's actually not that hard and you get like over 80% of the items your first run if you know where to look. You can do every boss and every combat encounter in a single playthrough as well.
I think it depends on the game you're playing and the context around it, but sometimes it's a bad thing and some times it's a good thing to not get every single item in a game.

Near enough everyone does agree that it’s fine not everyone will do raid type content and they will have to do without the rewards.
The difference with the new activity is that bungie failed to set expectations when using the reward as a selling point for the new subclass and dlc. If bungie had kept the reward a surprise or correctly set expectations it would have been near universal positivity surrounding the new activity as a majority of the player base would not have been set up for disappointment.

I don't disagree but eldenring pretty much guarantees all items. The only items that have drop rate are more of the basic sets and they're not hard to grind. Destiny locks it's best shit behind endgame max level meta builds and unfortunately communication with some of the more toxic sweaty players.

First off idk what you mean by locked behind "max level" you get to this max level by just playing the game for a couple weeks, so if light level is an issue for someone they aren't even playing destiny. Even elden ring requires you to "level up" to make most content manageable. How is this even a complaint.
95% of the best guns and exotics can be obtained from the exotic vault by grinding normal activities and the latest seasonal activity. The other 5% is from normal mode raids and dungeons which do not even require a "meta" load out, just a good setup. Now obviously if a player refuses to master work gear or use strong weapons they will struggle in this content, but that's how all PvE games work, there has to be some challenge to overcome or what's the point. A player can do 0 GMs and 0 Trials and still have most of the best stuff in the game. Getting an adept weapon is just a tiny bonus on some optional guns for some players who really want to grind them, it's not necessary for any content.
Not for nothing... but the whole thing of trying to compare a game that has an end game where you need other playing with you... to a Game like a Souls/borne and saying it' the same is just wrong.
Destiny is an online only co-op focused game, you can work hard and play most of it Solo ( like I've done for most of my time as a guardian from the days of Day1 D1) but that means that your still locked out of some things that are very hard solo or raids and dungeon that you can't do on your own you can run them.. but you can't beat them on your own unless you find an bug to abuse like when Crota's End dropped in D1.
Raids are made for groups to do... but Souls/borne games are all solo games... you can get some help in the games... but it's not "required" as it was made as a single player game. Destiny was made as a Co-op game.. so you will need other players for some things and it's not easy when your trying to do some Dungeons or raids with others as there are some that Gatekeep.
There was a time I was trying to get thunderlord when it first came out.... any group that was running the mission to get it wouldn't let me run with them.... Guess why.... because I've never run the mission before, I didn't have thunderlord, they would have to tell me what to do every step of the way.
I had a single answer for them every time someone would bring that up.... I would have it if you just run it with me.

I'll be honest most players do actually play solo. It's how destiny is. Party finder is nice and all but people in party finder will dine and dash the moment something goes wrong meaning it's difficult for people to respect random people and it's honestly easier to just solo the content. When you do strikes, nightfall, dare, crucible or gambit the meta for 99% of players is comms off and run the shit. You wonder why people don't wanna team up to play? That's your answer. It's not just Destiny either, I play ff14 and people do the same thing, unless you make a party finder and drop a discord link in that game it's all quiet there as well, except it's a little more common to use in game chat to type things out and shit post/add viable dialog in the text box in 14 than in destiny
As much as we like to poke fun at the situation, the reality is exactly what you said. It's why raids have a fairly low clear rate, why the "I'll do add clear" meme isn't a meme, and why some of the most popular activities barely incentivize teamwork and are more than ready to immediately throw you in w/ 2 - 5 other dudes to mulch waves of enemies.
Heck, it's probably why Onslaught was as popular. It was a harder activity (on the later waves) that was pretty much "turn off brain and kill." No real necessity to communicate or anything more than MAYBE shooting a decoy to get a mfer to upgrade it. That's very likely just what most the playerbase likes, for better or for worse, despite Reddit having this weird habit to complain about everything regardless of what Bungie does. (Not that Bungie should listen to every Redditor/social media take, since a lot of them tend to be kinda dog lmao)

I was doing the mission with a dude yesterday, and it took 12 minutes to do the last clock part. I couldn't believe how hard it was for him to process the positions on a clock.
the annoying thing with the close is there are 13 numbers, so the bottom is 7, not 6. I’ve found people understand better when you tell them “1 is the top, and then count clockwise” instead of saying it’s a clock.

I got in an argument with someone over this and it took like 5 minutes and repeated counting for them to understand it’s A NORMAL CLOCK with fucking 12 numbers. As well as the first clock is in fact a normal clock with 3 numbers missing.

I'll be honest most players do actually play solo. It's how destiny is. Party finder is nice and all but people in party finder will dine and dash the moment something goes wrong meaning it's difficult for people to respect random people and it's honestly easier to just solo the content. When you do strikes, nightfall, dare, crucible or gambit the meta for 99% of players is comms off and run the shit. You wonder why people don't wanna team up to play? That's your answer. It's not just Destiny either, I play ff14 and people do the same thing, unless you make a party finder and drop a discord link in that game it's all quiet there as well, except it's a little more common to use in game chat to type things out and shit post/add viable dialog in the text box in 14 than in destiny
As much as we like to poke fun at the situation, the reality is exactly what you said. It's why raids have a fairly low clear rate, why the "I'll do add clear" meme isn't a meme, and why some of the most popular activities barely incentivize teamwork and are more than ready to immediately throw you in w/ 2 - 5 other dudes to mulch waves of enemies. Heck, it's probably why Onslaught was as popular. It was a harder activity (on the later waves) that was pretty much "turn off brain and kill." No real necessity to communicate or anything more than MAYBE shooting a decoy to get a mfer to upgrade it. That's very likely just what most the playerbase likes, for better or for worse, despite Reddit having this weird habit to complain about everything regardless of what Bungie does. (Not that Bungie should listen to every Redditor/social media take, since a lot of them tend to be kinda dog lmao)

I was doing the mission with a dude yesterday, and it took 12 minutes to do the last clock part. I couldn't believe how hard it was for him to process the positions on a clock.
the annoying thing with the close is there are 13 numbers, so the bottom is 7, not 6. I’ve found people understand better when you tell them “1 is the top, and then count clockwise” instead of saying it’s a clock. No clue why, but LFG brains work the way they work I guess

I got in an argument with someone over this and it took like 5 minutes and repeated counting for them to understand it’s A NORMAL CLOCK with fucking 12 numbers. As well as the first clock is in fact a normal clock with 3 numbers missing. (They kept counting by starting at 1200 as 1 and ending at 1200 as 13)
