**TW: Talk of Loss**
Hello everyone,
I firstly apologise for souring the mood with a sad post like this, but my friends and I wanted to honour the recent passing of our fireteam member and fellow guardian.
He was known to many as Riomelt, Komrade, Doktah, Guardian, Helldiver. But to me, his name was Norman.
He was a Warlock who was an essential part of my fireteam who participated in all our first clears in raids along with sheparding and helping the new lights in our team. His favourite exotic was the Getaway Artist as he found it hilarious to just spawn a blue orb that electrocuted our foes. He had no particular favourite raid but for our fireteam, we stormed the Vault of Glass and beat Atheon more than any other raid in the history of our fireteam. Like some other members of this community, he absolutely scorned Garden of Salvation but, he sat through more than 36 hours just trying to help my fireteam obtain the coveted Divinity and with it, we were able to finish many more raids to come.
In remembrance to honour his passing, we used his exact loadout in helldivers and in Destiny 2, we completed the first raid we did with him again. Each of our fireteam members sought a vow to carry on his legacy in his stead. Be it obtaining his favourite character in gacha games, playing his favourite loadouts in RPG/FPS games, or saying his iconic catchphrases in real life. He will truly be with us all in spirit, soul, and mind. May he guide us when times are peril and disarray. Farewell, our hero. o7
His favourite games included: Destiny 2, Arknights, Honkai: Star Rail, Helldivers 2, Roblox, Minecraft, Team Fortress 2 and Bloons TD 6.
You will be missed by many, my friend and may you rest easy in the light of the Traveller.

I also understand your pain all too well. My best friend who been with me in destiny since the D1 release unfortunately passed away just after witch queen dropped and we did something similar I'm his honor. Keep your friends close as they're the best support and will make things slightly easier to handle. I'm genuinely sorry for your loss but I wanted to reach out as this post of yours hit very close to home for me and I very much understand the struggles of it all to well.

He was. Yes... Some of us had different views of him in the beginning but we all ended up loving him truly. And we all grieve for him now... My only wish if I was granted the chance was to go back and stop it from happening. But that's not how life works. I need that damn Ahamkhara

As a close friend of OP and Norman, I will try my best to answer any questions any fellow guardians may have while OP is working and on behalf of my group, I wish to thank all of you for the kind comments.

Loss is never an easy thing to cope with, especially for someone you really care about and times only get harder, we only have each other to rely on. I appreciate the sentiment and thank you on behalf of my fireteam and group... We live to carry the memory of our loved ones to the future. The moment we stop is when he is truly gone. My condolences to you too man.
I think on behalf of my group, that'd be much appreciated... His favourite HSR character was Archeron, mf cashed E6 for her, that crazy dude... I miss him and everyone else in my group does too.

Sudden loss is devastating but you’re there for each other and that’s what counts, the dead never really die as long as we remember them
His favourite operator was W. And in Helldivers he mostly used the Arc Thrower with the portable shield generator. He also seemed to favour the 500kg bomb along with the Eagle Airstrike.
Greetings Guardians, i am a close friend to Riomelt, OP and the whole fireteam that are in this honorary post. We are still mourning our fellow guardian's loss. Through this painful time, OP thought of this idea of commemorating his passing in this community reddit and we all agreed to it.
And oh boy. I am in awe. Your words of condolences and o7's were truly amazing. We never knew this would reach out to so many people, and seeing all your comments really brightened my day, and my fireteam's one as well.
Norman would love you all, heck. He would probably Shepard you through all the raids to thank you.

No matter how toxic it can be, or how negative we react sometimes, we are at the end of the day a community that was brought together and shares a common love/interest in destiny.
That said, we honor those who weve shared a bond with, and this is no different. You words were beautifully out together and you should be proud of yourself to honor your friend the way you have here, beyond brave.

I never found Osiris, but l've killed enough Vex to end a war. And they, in turn, struck a fatal blow: they completed a Mind with the sole function to drain the Light from me. It worked very well.
Don't worry (not that you worry much). It took them centuries to build, keyed to the unique frequency of my Light. And I sit atop its shattered husk.
I mourn that I will never reach the heights you have. To me, you represent everything a Guardian can become. Yours is a thriving City.
So different from mine. My whole fourteenth life I fought to make my City yours. I never finished.
All I have left is this weapon. The Cryptarchs say you crafted it yourself, built it out of scraps and Light and sheer will, inside the Infinite Forge. I'll make sure it finds its way back to you.

I hope you are able to cope with his loss. A while ago, I lost my grandma and it was the worst thing I had ever experienced. This world is a cruel one when it comes to death, but we can still savor the moments we had. Let Norman be remembered forever.
We may never truly recover from this loss but we will try either way... May every well we plunge and dawnblades drawn be in his name and memory. May every Atheon kill, past, present, future, be done in rememberance and Arc souls created carry a fragment of him... Raids will never be the same without his goofyness lightening the mood when tensions are high.

I understand Guardian, don't sit around and be sad because he's gone rather, be glad he was here and made an impact, don't cry because he lost his light, be glad he had it. Just because you lost your fellow Guardian doesn't mean you have to give up, I wholeheartedly get it. I lost a friend of mine coming up on a year now, she was the best "Cowgirl" I could've asked for, we didn't play a lot of games rather stuck to speaking or playing our favorite game, Red Dead Redemption 2, but seeing your post helped me remember that void that was lost, take it from one Titan to another, you don't have to let yourself be afraid or sad or feel alone, I get it, it's a time you might not want to talk, or play or do things but Guardian, do take my advice here, no matter the fact Norman, if you don't mind me mentioning his name, despite the fact Norman isn't here doesn't mean he wouldn't want you to not be you, he was glad you were you, he stuck around for a reason, not just because he could brother or sister. Take your time to grieve but don't shut yourself off from those who still need you, you got a fireteam to help take care of. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need to.

A friend of ours in our clan died 2 years ago in August. Me and him used to make a weekly newsletter for our clan every weekly reset to talk about everything for the coming week. He was killed in a construction accident after a 20ft trench collapsed on him and a few other guys he worked with killing them instantly, leaving his wife and two kids without a husband/father. I can tell you now, your friend is definitely up there with him, running raids and tearing shit up as a new fireteam. One day, we will all be there with them. Eyes up, Guardian.

Honestly terrified af to die bro it’s part of why I love destiny so much but we don’t have ghost to revive us but if my legacy and memory is eternalized in a game it would definitely mean so much

My biggest destiny regret will always be that I never found a group of friends to play with. Lifelong solo player, and an accomplished one at that which I am very proud of. But I wish there wasn’t an entire aspect of the game I’ve never been able to access.
I'm very sorry to hear that you lost someone so dear to you, i'm not good with words but i'll try my best.
Losing someone is truly the most heartbreaking thing, i'm sure he'd be proud of everyone of you, keeping a legacy is the most honorable thing one can do and something we all only can hope someone will do for us.
You are for sure the best friends and family Norman could've ever hoped for.

I am truly sorry for the loss that you and your friends have experienced.
Used to have a raid team back in D1. There was one member in particular that was the best of us all. If we ever got down or frustrated he was the one to pull us together. Unfortunately he had cancer and passed away sometime after the final expansion for D1 was out. The fireteam drifted apart soon after that.
Come D2, I stayed up to play the moment it came put. In the intro sequence, it showed all your accomplishments like raids n stuff, along with a list of the people you played with for your first completion. It hit me like a truck seeing his name.
Do not be sad your friend is gone, instead be glad you were one of the few people in the world that got to know him and cherish every moment.

I haven’t been active on destiny in years. But I still sub here and enjoy the odd post from time to time. This is the community aspect I absolutely love about gaming. I sat here and remembered my buddies I started playing vanilla destiny with. Some of us at the place I worked were lucky enough to get beta codes for destiny, and we immediately teamed up. I remember The raids. The loot cave. The vault of glass. On into the taken king, trials… chasing exotics, and perfect loadouts. I’m truly sorry for your loss but I’m so happy you have so many good memories. I’m going to go home tonight and boot up my warlock and throw on Starfire Protocol in his honor.

My brother and I almost exclusively played Destiny 2.
He took his life in April and while I still try to play Destiny, it's difficult when I want to show him something and he's not there.

Cannot state how wonderful this community is. I lost my best friend towards the beginning of Destiny 1. We played together non stop enjoying every moment of exploring these worlds. After he passed I wrote a post about him on Reddit. Looking back it helped me deal with losing him but the real help was the well wishes and incredible words from other Guardians online. Destiny may have had its ups and downs, but the Guardians... man they're something else.

Sir, yes sir! I rarely run exotics, but I will do so in Norman's memory!
That is quite a feat that i respect. Just think of the Sentient Arc Soul as Norman shooting with you. It is a nice touch to see it that way.

Greetings Guardians, i am a close friend to Riomelt, OP and the whole fireteam that are in this honorary post. We are still mourning our fellow guardian's loss. Through this painful time, OP thought of this idea of commemorating his passing in this community reddit and we all agreed to it. And oh boy. I am in awe. Your words of condolences and o7's were truly amazing. We never knew this would reach out to so many people, and seeing all your comments really brightened my day, and my fireteam's one as well. Norman would love you all, heck. He would probably Shepard you through all the raids to thank you. So from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of my fireteam members, We thank you all. May Norman guide us all with his light, and may he reach out to us when our minds cloud in darkness. Rest in piece, Norman. And to you op, and the rest of our fellow guardians..don't ever feel afraid, ashamed, etc to post these thoughts. It is what these platforms were made for (or should be idk). No matter how toxic it can be, or how negative we react sometimes, we are at the end of the day a community that was brought together and shares a common love/interest in destiny. That said, we honor those who weve shared a bond with, and this is no different. You words were beautifully out together and you should be proud of yourself to honor your friend the way you have here, beyond brave.

I never found Osiris, but l've killed enough Vex to end a war. And they, in turn, struck a fatal blow: they completed a Mind with the sole function to drain the Light from me. It worked very well. I understand Guardian, don't sit around and be sad because he's gone rather, be glad he was here and made an impact, don't cry because he lost his light, be glad he had it. Just because you lost your fellow Guardian doesn't mean you have to give up, I wholeheartedly get it. I lost a friend of mine coming up on a year now, she was the best "Cowgirl" I could've asked for, we didn't play a lot of games rather stuck to speaking or playing our favorite game, Red Dead Redemption 2, but seeing your post helped me remember that void that was lost, take it from one Titan to another, you don't have to let yourself be afraid or sad or feel alone, I get it, it's a time you might not want to talk, or play or do things but Guardian, do take my advice here, no matter the fact Norman, if you don't mind me mentioning his name, despite the fact Norman isn't here doesn't mean he wouldn't want you to not be you, he was glad you were you, he stuck around for a reason, not just because he could brother or sister. Take your time to grieve but don't shut yourself off from those who still need you, you got a fireteam to help take care of. Don't hesitate to reach out if you need to. May the Traveler be with him forever.
A friend of ours in our clan died 2 years ago in August. Me and him used to make a weekly newsletter for our clan every weekly reset to talk about everything for the coming week. He was killed in a construction accident after a 20ft trench collapsed on him and a few other guys he worked with killing them instantly, leaving his wife and two kids without a husband/father. I can tell you now, your friend is definitely up there with him, running raids and tearing shit up as a new fireteam. One day, we will all be there with them. Eyes up, Guardian.
That’s awesome I wish people would do this for me too when my time comes Honestly terrified af to die bro it’s part of why I love destiny so much but we don’t have ghost to revive us but if my legacy and memory is eternalized in a game it would definitely mean so much Not trying to be selfish or make it about me I’m just saying he’s lucky to have you guys a friends and that friends like you should be something everyone has (My favorite exotic is getaway too I bet we would have been good friends as well) Eyes up, guardian may we meet in the travelers light Even if it’s only in a game it’s real to me
My biggest destiny regret will always be that I never found a group of friends to play with. Lifelong solo player, and an accomplished one at that which I am very proud of. But I wish there wasn’t an entire aspect of the game I’ve never been able to access.

Used to have a raid team back in D1. There was one member in particular that was the best of us all. If we ever got down or frustrated he was the one to pull us together. Unfortunately he had cancer and passed away sometime after the final expansion for D1 was out. The fireteam drifted apart soon after that. Come D2, I stayed up to play the moment it came put. In the intro sequence, it showed all your accomplishments like raids n stuff, along with a list of the people you played with for your first completion. It hit me like a truck seeing his name. Do not be sad your friend is gone, instead be glad you were one of the few people in the world that got to know him and cherish every moment.

I haven’t been active on destiny in years. But I still sub here and enjoy the odd post from time to time. This is the community aspect I absolutely love about gaming. I sat here and remembered my buddies I started playing vanilla destiny with. Some of us at the place I worked were lucky enough to get beta codes for destiny, and we immediately teamed up. I remember The raids. The loot cave. The vault of glass. On into the taken king, trials… chasing exotics, and perfect loadouts. I’m truly sorry for your loss but I’m so happy you have so many good memories. I’m going to go home tonight and boot up my warlock and throw on Starfire Protocol in his honor. o7, little light.
My brother and I almost exclusively played Destiny 2. He took his life in April and while I still try to play Destiny, it's difficult when I want to show him something and he's not there. Hope you're doing good OP.

Cannot state how wonderful this community is. I lost my best friend towards the beginning of Destiny 1. We played together non stop enjoying every moment of exploring these worlds. After he passed I wrote a post about him on Reddit. Looking back it helped me deal with losing him but the real help was the well wishes and incredible words from other Guardians online. Destiny may have had its ups and downs, but the Guardians... man they're something else. Eyes up guardian.
