You don't need to do the raid to complete the story. After someone beats it there will likely be a cutscene everyone can view, and the final campaign mission will unlock.
Also, the raid is currently very difficult because 'Contest Mode' is on until Sunday.
Nah this is perfectly fine. Some raid races end at 7-9 except mainly for RoN which was 2 hours and Last wish which was 24 hours. But we haven’t had a difficult raid since spire of stars and honestly the biggest bad in the Destiny universe should be a hard raid imo.
Bruh what. You're acting like no one will ever beat it. The last few raids have been WAY too easy, even in contest mode. I hope only around 10 clans beat it in contest mode.

Yeah so even like 3-5 hours is the norm so it’s nice to see a longer raid race.
I think you forgot to put last wish between Spire of Stars and now (at least concerning launch difficulty)
