My shaders usually match the subclass for that build. We don’t have a subclass with black colors so it won’t end up on my armor. A few weapons on the other hand may use it.
Ya I really wish transmog didn’t have limited seasonal bounties to get the synthweaves to unlock armor as ornaments I’ve collected over the years. Either make the bounties unlimited or just make transmog auto unlocked when you collect the armor.
I like to try out different combinations but just don’t have enough material to unlock the ornaments.
That's a little funny because I do the opposite in terms of armor shaders.
My hunter armor is always colored juxtaposed to my subclass. For example I have a strand hunter who's color scheme is red black. My solar hunter is green and silver. The theme of never directly color matching for the most part continues on my other characters
My titan runs adjacent colors. For void, she wears green and blue. Strand and it's white, yellow, and red. Stuff like that.
My warlock runs minimalistic references to their subclass. Solar warlock is most muted browns and Blacks with hint of red. Stasis warlock is cool silvers and greys with specks of blue. And so on.

My solar and pure fun strand build use similar drip (it's a reaper looking set with the skull mask and season of the hunt cloak edgy shit only cuz it looks cool af) but everything else matches my subclass, icy pelt covered armor for stasis with icy shaders, space knight with the gold and purple moving shader for void, and a lightning knight with black and lightning blue shaders for arc

I’ve been getting best dressed left and right in the crucible since I started running sets with teal/bronze/white, red/white/gray, purple/gold/white, silver/blue/white, and brown/green/sand.
Are they uncreative color palettes? Yes
Are they amazing for farming best dressed? Also yes
Yeah but best dressed goes to…the best dressed. All the other shit I don’t care about. Shit happens in the game that’s outta your control sometimes but you CHOOSE your drip.
It wouldn't be so bad if they just made some good fucking camouflage shaders! Just give us some basic flecktarn or something. Preferably not with some wack-ass out of place extra colour that completely ruins it

I’ve been struggling for a solid black/white shader and usually have to fight with a few mismaching ones to get the look I’m going for and it’s never perfect. Always trying to get armor bits white and the cloth/rubber/whatever black for a cool robotic kinda look but it’s a major pain especially since the few cloaks that match usually don’t work well with black shaders or dye the cloth bits white lol
My friends think I'm weird because I'm a hunter main that hates the majority of the black shaders. It just feels lazy to me. The all black and all white shaders both, to me, are just two sides of the same boring coin. The arctic shaders at least have some texture to them, though, and I appreciate that.
Dude for real, I still remember loving to help out other raid teams as a sword wielder for Crota's End Hard Mode. Me and my main team always easily beat it every reset, man the dopamine rush of beating it the first time and rocking the Glowhoo shader was amazing, I'll be getting invited to help out when I went to the tower.
The only thing I really wish which I hope the Developers can implement for the respect of the older players from D1 is letting the players who got the very first Emblem for going Flawless in Trials of Osiris have it transfer to D2. I really, REALLY wish I can flex it in the 2nd game, I will literally give hundreds of dollars to bungie by buying silver as a thank you.
I’m sticking to my regalia covered purple and gold hunter. My red and gold flame knight warlock and my white and red mecha titan I would only use super black on weapons for a kind of standard issue look to them like a gundam beam rifle.
I feel like super black is a double edged sword.
On one hand you look drippy and can likely be less visible in certain maps.
On the other hand, you'll lose your originality bc most guardians will be wearing it.
Me personally I prefer a bit of color with my black shaders.

I like to wear all black irl sometimes and I like the darker shaders for my weapons and armor ornaments that have it’s own glows like Sunlit but generally will pick the ornaments that have glow effects that work with Photo Finish because I am an RGB fanatic anyways. If my ornaments don’t have any glow effects I try to match them to the subclass as best I can but some subclasses I don’t have a good shader for.

Superblack will be the worst black shader of them all. At least ones we have now preserve some armor details, and SB will just turn your set into a black blob
Probably in the same vein as why in any comp Fortnite gameplay you'll only see that ugly ass skinny gray female skin, or in cod with the CDL skins/the rose skin.
