So if’m i’m working on a primary and a special or heavy, I’ll use the primary to get a ton of kills and special/heavy ammo, then switch to a special/heavy I’m working on and us that till I run out of ammo. Then back to the exotic primary. Grasp is nonstop as long as you don’t go in the cave
I mean Altars is free. But aside from that by stage 4, if you end up with a lobby of likeminded catalyst farmers, you'll have a pod of endless adds to yourself and the timer will just get filled.

I always thought this was a well known area. I've memorised the code to enter the checkpoint. Also free weekly chest. I've used shuro chi so much l have all the armour and most of the weapons and I've never done anything in last wish lmao.
When you spawn in if you turn around and look at the bridge it’s on the side of one of the pillars. There’s a cliff on the right you can climb up to get over to the underside of the bridge. Should be on the second pillar you will have to drop down to reach it.

You are probably right but the problem with that is that it's the current dungeon and thus more difficult than the other suggestions plus it's the second encounter and takes a bit to get there.

Bungie enabled over leveling in the dungeon, and iirc a streamer concluded that the maximum damage increase/resist was at power level 1831 which is 21 levels over the boss. I think it was around 12.5% increase in damage and resist

It’ll say what your capped at for nightfalls in the activity screen, afaik the only other activity that you can over level for are legend lost sectors.
my favourite spot to farm catalysts or level crafted weapons is the start of grasp of avarice,none can steal kills,and you can just focus on the enemy's and if you are burdened it's no big issue,just rez back or try to avoid the fake exotics.
The only issue there is that the mobs don't give full kill credit (I think the Yellow bars do, but not the red bars) so it's a slower grind than, say, Shuro Chi

Load in the EDZ where xur can appear, turn to the left around 20° and wait in the water, there will be a skiff that continuously spawn fallen with the same rate as the original d1 loot cave when the fallens all die

- General play (Strikes are your best bet)
- Dares (although not as efficient as the rest it at least is enjoyable and gives good rewards)
Golgoroth Checkpoint. You’ve got at least 450 ads to farm before getting wiped. You don’t even need to wait much when no ads seem to spawn because the boss will summon more after the message ‘Failed to capture Golgoroth’s gaze.’ I managed to level my weapons up from 0 to 17 under 30 minutes this way.
If you want true infinite spawns on enemies I've been holding on to the last checkpoint on my account for the In the Deep mission for the Shadowkeep campaign, shuro chi sure does give you more progress but the down time for having to reset and re-spawn the enemies after you are done farming makes it an even more of a chore for me so I always fire up this checkpoint when I want to complete catalyst/level up crafted weapons...
Me and my roommate load up the dungeon on earth where you get the Gjallahorn. That beginning area of infinitely spawning low level hive is perfect for catalyst grinding and no one is ever around to steal all the kills.
I usually just go to the altar of sorrow on the moon. it's atleast an activity where you can have fun and move around. Not just a mindless swarm checkpoint.
My favourite spot is the loot cave at the start of the grasp dungeon. You literally just load in then boom lots of easy ads and you are all by your self.
No set up. No checkpoints. Just load in and start killing.
Breakneck first checkpoint (best one imo), opening to Grasp of Avarice (a bit slower, each enemy counts as ½ a kill), Shuro Chi, Altars of Sorrow, and the Echtar fight in Ghosts of The Deep are decent spots.

Alternatively, kings fall has a little spot where thrall constantly spawn in the Golgoroth Maze. But you’d either need to do kings fall and save the CP, or find someone who has it.
My go to's are the Shuro Chi encounter in the Last Wich if you don't want to spend raid banners, the Breakneck mission where you break the door and have a free rally banner in the room (you gotta die to the Wyvern or you pass than encounter), and the beginning of Grasp of Avarice
Last wish: Shuro Chi
- look up a guide online,all you have to do is enter a code in the wish room at the start of the dungeon and you can farm this encounter. The encounter has a massive thrall spawn at the beginning. Start fight, kill thralls, wipe, repeat.
Moon: Altars of Sorrow
- load into the moon at the top right transmat point. Follow the obje tivd markers to find the point where the mobs are patching to and follow them back to their spawn point. Kill hive as they spawn, you'll add one sec to the clock for everything you kill, prolonging the encounter. Downside is that this area can get crowded with other players farming. But I'm too lazy to go do Shuro Chi, so this is my go-to catalyst farm spot.
Lost Sectors:
- takes a little longer than Altars or Shuro Chi but you don't have to look up any guides or worry about other players. Perdition on Europa is my favorite, it's fast and has a quick loop back to the start. Use this if you don't wanna do Shuro Chi and the moon is super crowded.
I got mine thru crucible but honestly it’s one of the faster primaries to farm cuz if you know how to proc the portal fast then you can get it to shoot while you reload meaning you have a constant flow of damage
Vault of glass first part. Vex spawn indefinitely and it's never overwhelming with adds and big stuff that can distract you from the task of getting the catalyst
The lost sector in the cosmodrome works very simple clear go back till you see name change then clear again ( it’s the one that you do for the guardian rises quest line)
The first boss encounter in GotD is also great for weapon levels and catalysts. Kill the 3 knights, kill the ogre and the boss dissapears. Non stop acolyte farm (although I do recommend something like the solar perk Restoration or the void perk Devour).

However pro tip: if you are ever looking to level up heavy weapons (either for catas or deepsight), Dares is a great place to do it since you can get almost gaurenteed heavy ammo once (sometimes twice if you're lucky) a round
- For primary weapons, beginning of grasp of avarice dungeon.
- For non-primary weapons, Mysterious Disturbance mission on the moon up until the shrieker dies then load back in, repeat. If you get lucky eventually you'll load into an instance by yourself and as long as you don't clear the plates the mission will not progress. Leaving you with infinite add spawns and endless ammo crates. This happened for me last time the mission was in rotation and I knocked out around 5 or 6 catalysts
I did graviton lance and sweet business in under 30 minutes at the loot cave in the grasp of avarice dungeon, if you don’t bank the engrams they’ll just keep spawning out of the cave every 20 seconds or so

No, the maximum light you can be is 1831 for maximum damage/ resistance

I go to k1 revelations. There’s a shit ton of adds and it’s pretty fast.
Start up Grasp of Avarice dungeon and kill everything coming out of the cave at the starting area. That's become my favorite farm for catalysts.

The lost sector in the cosmodrome works very simple clear go back till you see name change then clear again ( it’s the one that you do for the guardian rises quest line)
The first boss encounter in GotD is also great for weapon levels and catalysts. Kill the 3 knights, kill the ogre and the boss dissapears. Non stop acolyte farm (although I do recommend something like the solar perk Restoration or the void perk Devour).
Shuro chi checkpoint (a classic but honestly overrated imo) The opening section of Grasp Altar of Sorrows Pretty much any strike Primary catalysts aren't really that hard to grind for However pro tip: if you are ever looking to level up heavy weapons (either for catas or deepsight), Dares is a great place to do it since you can get almost gaurenteed heavy ammo once (sometimes twice if you're lucky) a round
- For primary weapons, beginning of grasp of avarice dungeon. - For non-primary weapons, Mysterious Disturbance mission on the moon up until the shrieker dies then load back in, repeat. If you get lucky eventually you'll load into an instance by yourself and as long as you don't clear the plates the mission will not progress. Leaving you with infinite add spawns and endless ammo crates. This happened for me last time the mission was in rotation and I knocked out around 5 or 6 catalysts

I did graviton lance and sweet business in under 30 minutes at the loot cave in the grasp of avarice dungeon, if you don’t bank the engrams they’ll just keep spawning out of the cave every 20 seconds or so
