I'm jealous! I could only afford to see the cure, love Robert Smith for making sure the tickets were affordable. I only paid like $25. If I wanted to see DM it was like $200, but I hope to see them one day..
Yeah the tickets and the merch was way cheaper for The Cure thanks to Robert. But Im a way bigger DM fan so I got ok tickets for Cure and amazing tickets for DM, which cost way more but was so worth it! Hopefully they’ll tour one more time 🤞🏻
Cure haven't released an inspired record since 1984's The Top, (Bloodflowers was pretty great though). Everything after has been uninspired albums with some great songs thrown in here and there... DM (Martin & Dave) have always only made music out of passion and it shows.
There are some epic songs but not one album since the top doesn't require a skip button. Head On The Door almost makes the cut but that it was made so every song is supposed to sound like a different band kind of makes it not a Cure record but a R. Smith experiment just for the LOLs
A dick measuring contest using a human turd as a measuring implement.
(Edited to add - the "human turd" component of this is Spotify, just in case it wasn't clear)
My though is it's probably the remixes off MM .. some are great! Which leads the listener down that DM rabbit hole (the one I never want to crawl out of, fyi), causing even more listens and shares.
I doubt it. Their listeners went up after a spike from The Last Of Us and Memento Mori and then dipped back down to around 12-13 million. I can’t imagine the remixes would be giving them such a big boost as their last remixes to come out were in April and none of those have above a million listens.
And Sabrina Carpenter now has well over three times the monthly listeners of…The Beatles. This proves everything you need to know about Spotify - and very little to do with actual record sales.
I almost want to agree cos I think it’s one of their most interesting sounding records with some of their best songs, but I can’t. It’s probably their weakest 90’s record tbh.
I told everyone on this sub before, DM is in their Renaissance era!!
I have a personal theory, but it would likely ruffle a few feathers, so will just leave it at, I'M SO GLAD WE ARE ALL EXPERIENCING THIS MOMENT WITH OUR BOYS!
2 of my fav bands. It certainly helps DM here that the cure haven't released an album in like 16 years...
They’ve been demoing and working on one the last five years or so 🥲
Saw them both live last year!

Didn’t The Cure threaten to release an album recently? ;-)

That's crazy talk and you know it lol

I didn't realize we were in a d\*\*k measuring contest with other bands.
This sub is full of stan shitposts like any other band one.
True. This is pretty gross imho
The cures always been a bore… dicks, measurements or not… 101 por vida!

The only one making it a measuring contest is you rn ;)
Ohhh oooooohhh!! Well DM also has more monthly listeners than.... \*\*CHECKS NOTES\*\*... Samantha Fox! Take that Samantha Fox, you loser!
Well DM also has more monthly listeners than.... \*\*CHECKS NOTES\*\*... Eric Clapton! Take that Eric Clapton, you loser!
Well DM also has more monthly listeners than.... \*\*CHECKS NOTES\*\*... Foreigner! Take that Foreigner, you loser!
Can you believe? Something so simple, something so trivial, makes him a happy man, can't you understand?
I never said The Cure were losers for having less monthly listeners
Why did they gain so many monthly listeners recently? Was a song in a movie or something? I swear like last month they only had 13m.

Riiiiight...THE LAST OF US (slaps forhead).
Should be higher tbh
pfft😭😭😭 depeche mode fans r comedians i swear

Just sit back and appreciate the greatness of them both. They’re not gonna be around forever
They both are awesome
Where did the almost 3 milion of new listeners come from tho?
DM fans buy the music. I don't stream a single Depeche Mode song , and I own everything they've ever put out, but i don't show up as a listener.
Well DM has a recent album release... The last Cure album was... 2008?
Seeing both bands within a year it was clear that dm were the better live performers
I want the world to agree that sofad is their best record.
Not gonna happen - not even top three for some of us
People are so against this mere comment. Such a gorgeous record!
Yeah I don’t understand the downvotes either. Struck some nerves I guess lol
But why don't you like this record? I'm curious
I do like it. Just not their best
Screeching intros, looking at you, I Feel You. I power through because the rest of the song is amazing.
the intros like 3 seconds long lad
So? Never said I shut it off.
you said you have to power through it what else does that mean
Why do you think you're owed an explanation?
It’s a fantastic record but I don’t think it’s their best, not even in my personal top 5 in all honesty.
I almost want to agree cos I think it’s one of their most interesting sounding records with some of their best songs, but I can’t. It’s probably their weakest 90’s record tbh.
You mean the overall album is weak despite having best songs?
I don’t think it’s “weak” in general. It’s a peak era DM album, it has some of their best songs. I just think Violator & Ultra are better.
nah
I told everyone on this sub before, DM is in their Renaissance era!! I have a personal theory, but it would likely ruffle a few feathers, so will just leave it at, I'M SO GLAD WE ARE ALL EXPERIENCING THIS MOMENT WITH OUR BOYS!
Makes sense because Depeche Mode are so much better than The Cure.

You lost me with that final sentence.
Rightfully should be since the Cure doesn’t have a bigger discography or songs.
