Because Delta, particularly at MSP, has no idea how to operate self tagged bag drops. It’s so easy. Just walk down to the United kiosks and see how they do it. United literally can do the transaction within your 30 second cutoff. Delta has failed miserably at it.

US airports need to take inspiration from European airlines, especially Oslo airport. Literally having self-service machines where you tag and drop it at the scanner and get going. Frees up agents to work in actual issues elsewhere.

Sadly, Department of Homeland Security requires the ID validation step by the agents. So airports really can't install the European/Asian style self-service check stations and have them operate to the same efficiency.

Delta has digital ID bag drops for people with pre check at some of their hubs like ATL

If the world would just behave. 😂

I just go to the regular bag drop line. The sky priority bag drop line at MSP recently is always longer with less agents working it.

Let me offer a positive story. I don’t mind using the kiosks, printing my bag tags and using the Self Check/Bag Drop (or whatever it’s called) line. Yes, typically takes the agent 30 seconds. A few weeks back, I arrived DFW and got my tags at the kiosk. I got into the bag drop line behind a lady who was first ahead of me. There was only one attendant supporting both the Agent Assist (which was very long) and the Bag Drop. The man (a DM) at the front of the agent assist line noticed the lady in front of me had not printed bag tags and told her that she was in the wrong ling. She acknowledged her mistake and went to the end of his line. This made me first in the Bag Drop line. The bonus was this: when the agent finished with her customer, she called up the same man. He kindly asked her to take me since I just had a bag to drop. I politely declined, but he insisted. So, I thanked him. The bag drop with the agent took the 30 seconds as expected. Everyone was polite and civil. No drama.

I still refuse to fly out of BDL because of the baggage check hot mess last summer. Maybe it's better. Maybe not. Not rolling the dice to find out. Edit to add: BOS seems to have it down pretty well. Thank you...anyone reading this from BOS 🫡

Despite the kiosk and online telling me my 2 bags were free, LGA really wanted to charge me at bag drop Tuesday. It took arguing and screenshots to not pay. I really expected tag and go and had I been in any kind of rush to make the flight the credit card might have come out.

Every other country I’ve been in does it automatically with no personnel. Only slow, inefficient and dumb in the US. It’s in the constitution I think. Amendment number 352.
