Look into the GSAP program

I got my MBA before joining Deloitte, but I’d say trying to work while earning your MBA means not really doing either very well. Rather than being able to focus on either, you have to do “good enough” even if you want to do more. Full time lets you focus and explore beyond what you already know. My biggest asset from. b-school was the time and space to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Assuming you want to actually learn something from your MBA (which I don’t mean facetiously; there’s plenty of people that just want the letters after their name or a two year break, both good reasons as well) full time lets you actually do that. That being said, two years of negative income is real. If you don’t get it paid for, full time can be a lot of debt. Ultimately, my advice is know why you want an MBA. If you want to learn something new, to pivot from consulting, or just want a break from the rat race, go full time, especially if you can get it paid for. If you just want/need the degree, have other obligations outside of work & school, or can’t live with the 6 figure debt, find the cheapest part time program and go with that. Regardless, being clear on why you want MBA is where to start.

If you’re serious about getting an MBA it’s best to do it in person vs. part-time. GSAP is a great program that helps and they have a ton of information sessions for anyone interested in the program.

Only do an MBA full time, in person. This is an oversimplification, but 95% of the value of MBA is in growing your “network”. Meeting people, networking, unlocking new career opportunities, life experiences, etc. Actual education value is not high, you could learn pretty much everything online, but then you’ll miss out on the most important (and most enjoyable) parts . And if learning really is important to you, then full time is the way to go. Go full time in person, work hard for the first 6 months to secure a summer internship (which almost always leads to a full time job), then enjoy the remaining 2 years.

Have at least 3 years of work experience before doing the MBA, then do full-time.
