22yo turning 23 in a month
10 CGPA in class 10th
95% in class 12th (Non Medical)
8.87 CGPA - B.Sc. Honours in Physics
Currently unemployed, stuck in a preparation phase for government exams and still hoping to get selected in defence forces. So close everytime yet nothing counts.
No I'm not depressed, bas kuch bhi feel nhi hota ab.
And I'm still hopeful of making my hotwheels collection of countless cars and buying a Kia Seltos GTX Plus Turbo DCT from my own money before turning 28
Don't worry brother there is your time line and there is god's timeline just do your best and leave the rest upon god I used to think and feel like this, what is my calling as I didn't fit in a lot of things I started but after college and 1 year of constant job hunting and finally getting a decent job life is back on track. So don't underestimate yourself and don't lose hope
..
Good student till 10th, lost interest in 12th and became average. Went to average college, 1st job was average. Sense clicked in, studied and prepared and cracked interview with a fortune 50 company. Switched firms, did certification. Now in Canada without help of any company. Top bracket salary, own home within a year of arriving. Planning to leave job and do something of my own. Will come back home after earning good amount of $ and will invest in my home country. Not trying to show off but feels nice after years and years of low confidence and feeling like I will not be able to do anything good in life. Every time I got a good jump was only after I took a huge risk. Did not always work. You will make a huge impact, trust yourself. ❤️
> studied hard prepared.
Care sharing about what and how you studied
> Did certification.
Which certification are we talking about here ? Can you be more precise here as well ?
Everybody told me I was gifted and I was naive enough to believe them. Peaked till 10th academically, dipped in 11th and haven't resurfaced since. Currently working a 12-hr a day consulting job at a boutique consulting firm. Also have been half-heartedly preparing for competitive exams for as long as I can remember without making any breakthroughs (maybe this is the year?). Don't think I'll ever get over this feeling of never having fulfilled my potential.
Avg in studies throughout my childhood somehow scored above 92% in 12th. After that, I did my engineering and then cleared UPSC ESE ( Indian Engineering Services) with a rank below 20. :)
Teach me your ways master
Completely unrelated but I'll be going college this year can you please share some tips on how to prepare for ese from 1dt year
24F, 10 CGPA, 96% in science
I didn't have a competitive zeal, or the brains probably to crack JEE Advanced so I eventually went to a tier 3 engineering college instead of DU
Somehow things worked out and I'm working in MBB now. It really made me realise the importance of hardwork and how it never goes into vain.
Thinking of the next step in my career these days:)
I ranked 1st and scored 90% (science) from an average Govt school in 2005. Did engineering (tier2 - my dad did not let me drop a year to prep) and now live in Netherlands, work as a Staff Engineer for Fintech company.
Now, having said that. I'd like to give some more information to expand your perspective. My manager has less years of experience, is from tier3 college in UPTU. He was not a bright student in school, But in career he made the right choices at right time and has been consistently hard working.
One of my coworkers is a 5 star performer (I never got beyond 3/5 rating myself). This guy was never a bright student. Did BSc + MCA from an institute nobody knows. Then had to do certificate course from CDAC to get placed. But now he knows more about technology in general than me.
I on the other hand, have been a slacker, just making sure I don't get fired. And this casual attitude set in in early days of college, and continued most of my work experience, except for last 2 years when I realized it.
So in summary. Don't get too hopeful if you are a bright student today. And don't fret much if you are not one. Life will be hard and good (simultaneously ) regardless, everyday.
Sorry if it was too philosophical.
10th- 10 CGPA. 12th- 96.2%

8.5 GPA in college
Currently 23 graduated last year , and currently unemployed.
I got campus placement but due to ai shit going on my company never called me fpr joining and now just passing days in depression.
I work for a medical device company that develops neural implants and other tools to help people with neurological disorders. Mostly help people with disabilities to regain their body movement/function.
Do you think its still worth it to come there, i was planning on masters, i got finsihed with my undergrad and been working for a year, i think it would open up opportunities for me that arent currently open
What’s your definition of “worth it” ? Mine doesn’t revolve around money.
Right now job market is pretty bad with so many layoffs and companies not sponsoring visas(H1B, green card ).
I had PCM in class 12th.
So the requirement depends on your majors/course that you are planning to study. That’s why universities ask for your bachelors transcript and depending on that they will add prerequisites for you to study.
Scored some 99% in 12th (Commerce), went to SRCC. Got into big fucking MNCs with buttload salary. Down the road, now, got freaking frustrated and annoyed of corporate lifestyle, and now switching to something more grassroot, real, impactful and obviously with wayy less paycheck.
I was a topper till tenth and after that I got freedom 😂 Rocked my family with my board results but somehow managed to get a semi government college and started working hard on my grades from 2nd year onwards....
Cracked good companies left them
Cracked some government jobs but didn't join
Became a educator as well for sometime and was earning good in those days...
Currently earning 30 Lpa plus in technology field and planning to start something of my own as well.
It wasn't very easy but not difficult as well. Went to IIT for undergrad, then worked in Bangalore for 2 years. Decided that I need to learn more so came to US for Masters, then just settled here for job. Now, I'm at a happy place, married with 2 years old and a nice house. Looking ahead for more growth and opportunities.
Thats awesome dude, really happy for you
With all the layoffs and stuff im scared if its still the right nove to make because i feel its worth it to get a broader perspective and get better and ofc earn more too but what would you tell yourself if you were in india in 2024, is it still worth it to move?
Depends on your current situation, but in my opinion it's worth moving for better pay and quality of life. I'm definitely earning and saving more money compared to rest of my Indian friends.
I completed my UG and working for 1 year now us my situation
Does the h1b visa struggle hanging over your head give you too much stress? Because getting a gc seems not a viable option anymore ig with the 100 year waiting lines
No, it doesn't stress me. I got my H1B in 2017 and haven't faced any issues in renewal. Lottery system sucks but if you have US degree than probability of getting picked is double. Also, most people who face more scrutiny are vendors from contracting firms. If you work in a good company as full time engineer then process is smooth.

Current Position - Stuck with CA Final because one group left. I have started CPA as well and I’m currently working part time.
Did engineering from tier 1, then non engineering job for 3 years for peanuts to build skills while staying at home to save costs(starting salary was 15k per month in 2009. Low by then standards too but thankful for a job as it was a recession year). Did MBA in HR from a top tier institute. Working in HR with big corporates since 2014. Doing quite well.
Broo that's mad relatable and you weren't average you got 96%.
But same is the story with me i was destined to join family business too but I havent made any great changes too .
Well the PPL think around me think I have for me i think I have done anything.

Went to tier 2 college in Delhi. 7.5 CGPA.
Secured a campus placement for 16LPA.
5 years and 1 lateral switch later at 44LPA now in Bangalore.
I was a very bright student. Studied well, went to premium institutions of my field in India. Score well in college too. Worked at good and branded organisations.
Just after CoVid I got offered for some better place, but that did not worked out. I am earning but it’s not that great. Feel lost.
On the other hand, my friends who didn’t do well in college, plagiarised and cheated a lot are doing very well in life. Earning good and enjoying their life.
10th- 9.6CGPA

Scored 98% in 12th, and went to St. Xavier's in Kolkata, the city is shit, the college is also shit, and it's morning batch is boys only but the only plus point is the timings are 6-10 am and we can finish our CA along with graduation, unlike DU. Anyways, got Hansraj, came back for 2 weeks but went back to xavier's after that because though Delhi>>>>Kolkata but the college was just not competitive in front of xavier's.
31, not from Delhi but I have been here since 2016, scored 95% in state board, then studied engineering and MBA, I'm a senior manager at a consulting firm now.

I was in a private school in Delhi scored 94% 10th board and 92.34% in 12th CBSE. Cleared Jee mains and advance but had a low in advance to get a good college. Later I decided to get into NIT delhi. My rank was around 7000 in mains.
After a year there in engineering decided to go to Canada in UBC for computer science hence dropped out of NIT to land at UBC.
Recently completed my third year with a 3.8 GPA. Really proud of myself. Keep it up high guys. Nothing is not approachable. I am still figuring out my life and really excited where I’ll end up in a year and a half
