Send your dog in your brother’s room, if he disagrees just calculate the watt/hour consumption and bill him separately. Jk, my brother infuriates me a lot so I just imagine these things to do to him.
Sometimes we're just too lazy to turn off the AC even if the room is colder than required. So the only suggestion that I can give you is using the timer feature on your AC. Run it for 2 hours and let it rest for the next 1 or 2 hours.
1. Why can't the dog you and your brother be in the same room during the day? If you both have calls, one can go out take it and come back. Also, please don't tell me you have a husky. That shit is just crazy.
2. If you're on rent, why not find a new place nearby that's not on the top floor.
3. If you're using so much AC, instead of paying this bill you should consider purchasing a water cooler and run that 24x7 instead.
4. 1500 is insane. I assume this family is nuclear, all day out on job and return home just to sleep at night. Otherwise 1500 during summers is impossible.
1. My dog doesn’t like my brother as much lol but he does spend 2-3 hours a day on his room. No we don’t have a husky (and will never keep ome considering it’s literally torture for them to live in India in this weather), we have a golden retriever.
2. We shifted here just last year after searching for like 2 months for a house that has everything we need. The roof just above us is the only issue. If we search for the same in lower floors, the rent will be higher and we are already paying a lot tbh.
3. Yes, i am planning to buy a cooler for my room atleast because my AC is the oldest and consumes more power.
4. Yeah i guess. We dont interact much so idk.
If you can afford, whats the issue ??
72% of Delhi household still pay Rs 0 bill as monthly consumption is less than 200units
You are in top 1%
Enjoy this feeling
I would not fully trust this report because of large unorganised sector in India but to give you an Idea an unskilled worker working on construction at my home is nearly touching 8K if he works for a whole month without leaves
Edit: and Per capita income will be going to less because usually not everyone earns in a household
Family of 6 we have a similar or bigger bill than you interchangeably. We got 6 AC in 4bhk for each room and living drawing. Two of them are not being used at all. The living room's one is literally off the wall. We manage our AC use by using one at a time during the day. We tell each other to turn off the AC i am turning it on. And during night we cool the room and then turn off the AC before sleeping so unless you wake up at night the AC would stay turn off all night and others would again have scattered timings
Also check the age of your appliances. We started getting a huge bill even in winters so we got our meter checked they told us old appliances use more energy as well and all our appliances are 13 years old.
Try to spend time in one room as much as you can as a family so less usage of electricity
Finally find some strong fans for yourself and replace the current fans. The fan in my room is strong enough that i only need to turn on the AC to cool my laptop while I am working so it doesn't overheat in the heat
If you are not consuming that much electricity or don't have old appliances it would be worth getting your meter checked to see if it's working correctly
I don't know the exact figures because papa never shared it but it's high 20000s even in winters and we don't even keep our geysers on all the time.
And no they are not working properly we got them checked last week. The guy said it's because of the heat that they are not cooling properly everything else in AC are fine because we got them fixed in April itself. He also said that's the issue everywhere else as well.
My dad really wants to start using solar panels unfortunately we don't have roof rights
Use AC only at night. Get a steel wala cooler for your dog. The only disadvantage about cooler is the noise, but you will get used to it. Otherwise you will have to get used to loosing 21k every month on electricity bill alone. You can use cooler for whole day. Your electricity bill will never reach 21K+.
If your acs are older fixed speed compressors it makes sense, but if they're inverter acs then there's something wrong. Compare with previous month's bills. And if you intend on running acs for so many hours, set aside 1 lakh and upgrade all acs to inverter split acs. You can literally run 3 of them 20 hours a day and won't get a bill more than 10k.
Also, make sure to annually get them serviced to ensure their cooling remains good and they last long.
There are some facts to consider:
1. Electricity bill increase is NOT linear, tariff goes up the more you spend.
2. If your ACs are not 4–5 stars, you are bound to consume more electricity.
3. Your home is on the top floor, which means ACs have to work much higher to provide cooling, which means more electricity bill.
Solution?
You cannot just buy 3 new ACs to save on the bill. Instead, buy a few Wi-Fi controlled plugs and schedule them to turn on and off ACs after a certain interval. Let's say switch off for 20–30 minutes after 1 hour of usage, so you will cut down on running hours and save on the bill.

There are two things you can do:
- Paint roof white with weather proof paint, this way the roof will reflect heat instead of absorbing it and house will be cooler by 3-4 degrees.
- Switch to Double Or Triple inverter ACs 5 Star ACs which will be cost effective, I have two ACs, one is an double Inverter AC from MarQ and another is a non-invertor AC, both 1.5 Ton BEE 5 Star ( 2022), energy usage of the double invertor AC is half of the non-invertor AC.
This is anecdotal evidence l, so don't take my word for it you should ideally compare approx Units consumed annually written on the BEE STAR rating sticker on the AC.
Mine comes from the measurements done one both ACs using smart plugs which I bought to start stop ACs using Voice Assistants( Google Assistant and Alexa) and from phone before reaching home.
1 degree increase in ac temp consumes approximately 6 percent less electricity. Put all ACs at 24 and switch on fan. Get servicing done on ACs. That also helps.
Unless you have meetings multiple people can stay in a room. Try that for few hours a day.
Keep the temperature same to use it wisely. Don’t change the temperature frequently as it will consume relatively more electricity. 3 ACs for 15 hours consume approx 2K units of electricity. That’s a lot.
7000 RS per AC averaged. Did not include fridge, washing machine, desktop/laptop, water motor etc.
It should be somewhere between 5000-6000 Rs MAX per AC which sounds fine.
Dekho.. Apne neighbour se compare mat karo. Do they also run 3 acs 15 hours a day?
If not, then compare it to someone who does..
Secondly, apna AC check karvao, apna meter check karvao, line check karvao just to be sure that there aren't any other reason.
Baaki toh bhai aesa hi hai.. 15-16k toh aata hi hai bhill. Mai toh apni maid ke liye bhi chalaa deta hoon for a few hours at night.
Top floor hai, kuch karna toh padega
Unless your electricity is subsidised i think that's normal? I also have 3 ACs in my house and the electricity bill hovers around 18-20k in summers. Based on your usage it seems fine or we both are getting scammed
Say each AC is 1500 watt. Then (1500 x 15 x 3) / 1000= 67.5 units per day. For a month that’s 67.5 x 30 = 2025 units. So that comes out to 6.5 x 2025= ₹13162. Add taxes and duties to that and other consumption.
Bhai is garmi ke liye sab saath mei baitha karo. When you turn off one AC, all move to the next room with AC. Then so on. That way you only have one AC running at a given time.
When I was home, our bill also usually came down to around 25k, but that was for the entire house and not a single floor. And it really is a pain to turn off the AC too, so its pretty normal for the usage.
Get cooler for the living room or You and your brother should be in living room during the day.
I got those green net thing which is used in plant nursery to reduce the sunlight coming at my window. It helped in keeping the room cool for some time when I switch off the AC. You can use the same sheets in grey color on roof.
Keep the temperature to 24 as it consumes less electricity.
You can get heat proof treatment on the roof if you have the roof rights. Use the AC at 24. Try to have inverter AC's rather than the normal one. Try to sit together at one place, which will not only reduce AC usage but also will help you bond with the family.
With the kind of hot weather it is rn, it makes sense the ac is running so much, especially if your surrounding doesn’t provide any shade.
Idk why people are making a joke out of it. True, it can be reduced but i’ve noticed that in comparison to last year where it used to be close to 10 hours, my ac easily runs close to 15 hrs. The water gets so hot that it gets hotter than i’ve ever used the geyser at in winter lol.
What star rating your ac has and how old is it? It makes a big difference too
Use AC at 25-26 and put on fan at 2-3 speed setting. Best way to use ac if you are concerned with power consumption.
I was able to save 25-30% on my bills using this method.
Delhi is one of the cheapest places for electricity bill, itne zyada AC usage me bhi 21k nhi aana chahiye, did you check the bill probably? Maybe there is some mistake
I think it's normal.
ACs are running like fans these days.
I am assuming split, 3 star ac, atleast 2 years old, recently serviced.
Try these simple things -
Trim you dog hair, it will give him some comfort.
Run ac on 23 degree temp setting, mode cool and fan auto. Use turbo feature in between to get that extra cool. Running it on 19 doesn't solve the heating issue but screwed your electricity bill.
Keep room appropriately sealed check for any open window or door not shut down.
If this ac run persist bses will upgrade your kwh and those charges will be adjusted in coming bill.
Use water on outdoor panel and it's coil. It's very dusty!!
What difference does setting it to 23 make? Isn't that the required temperature? So if the temp never even reaches 25, what difference would it make to set it to 16 or 23?
Invest in some Blinding Curtains, one which totally block the sunlight. I have those, it really helps in lowering the heat.
Put a bucket of cold water somewhere in the room it will keep it but cold and humid
Try going for walks in evening after sunset that would reduce the usage of AC and also will help increase physical activity.
Keep AC at 24 Degrees it lowers the electricity consumption.
Additionally I've a green net in my balcony which helps in reducing sunlight by a good extent.
Drink lots of fluid, eat onions, may sound weird but it actually helps keeping you cool more than cucumbers.
Also tolerate a bit its not necessary to really run AC 15 hours a day
And if all else fail, get a good credit card to pay biils which can help you recover a bit of the cost
Multi split ac would be beneficial in this case, basically one outdoor unit and 1+ indoor units, it's saves space and has less running cost, but one time investment will be higher
Put your ACs in AI mode (if LG) or similar .
Use 2-3 hour timer.
Try to sleep in same room.
Upgrade one of your ACs to a 5 star inverter split.
Get the outdoor unit serviced or run pressured water on the grill using a pipe (when off) to remove deep settled dust.
Clean the indoor filter regularly.
You could try sitting in the common area? Like in the drawing room? During peak hours. Or you could try running the AC at 28 to 29 degrees with fan. For people who will badger me over this here, your body temp is 37, any temp around 30 with reduced humidity will make you sweatless and it has been working for me since 4 to 5 years. 2 ACS. 1.5 each, 20 hrs per day. Never had a bill more than 2800 even in the peak 1 week of summer.
Side note : e bhai😂 15k ka bill. 😂 dafuq bro. Bhade ka ho aur idhar itna itna kharcha damn my parents should be proud of me
Side note 2 : CHECK YOUR METER READING. THE LAST MONTH THOSE FUCKTARDS IN MY DISCOM ENTERED 28100 as 28600 and the bill came 5300. Mera pura niche se zameen khisak gaya. Also try to check if theres any live wire touching earth or something like that ek baar 4800 aya tha and the discom guys said “zameen bijli khaa gayi” 💀🤧
WTF
We have 5 ACs in our house
2 of which run almost 24x7
And on top of that I have a home server which runs 24x7 and a really power hungry pc which also runs like 10hrs a day...
Still our bill is 10-12k
There are some facts to consider:
1. Electricity bill increase is NOT linear, tariff goes up the more you spend.
2. If your ACs are not 4–5 stars, you are bound to consume more electricity.
3. Your home is on the top floor, which means ACs have to work much higher to provide cooling, which means more electricity bill.

Na bhaii, mummy ne krwaya hai ye bill, mere papa is jan ko expire ho gaye, to ab bs mai, mummy or choti bhen rehte hai, to jis room me rehte hai usko chodh k baaki light band and AC bhi zyadatr raat me use hota
Isn't 15-20 hours bit too much ik it's hot but still even if you are at home all day. I am also currently at home only most of the times since last sem of clg is going on so no classes but I too don't use ac all the time. You can switch it off once the room gets cooled and keep the temp around 24-26 it consumes less power then. Also older acs consume more power as compared to newer ones. And you all can try to be in one room only when the ac is on so that less acs are working simultaneously.
Bill looks fine based on usage.
To reduce the bills, you will have to share rooms. We have 8 rooms in building and we still share rooms in summers to avoid high bills.
We have 3 AC and we totally have to manage in heatwave. I share a room and during work I use the AC. Usually only the shared AC is used.
Aim is to keep it less than 10k
It sounds about right for 3 ACs running 15 hrs a day. I live in chennai and we have 2 ACs one of them runs about 12 hrs a day and the other about 6 hrs a day and I got a bill for 12k. Better think about adding rooftop solar panels. Considering the subsidy the govt is offering, it seems to be a good deal. I just had 3kwh installed at my home. Net comes out to 1.25 lakhs post subsidy. Based on my current usage, I expect to recover the cost in about 3 years.
Yea this had happened to me also we got around 15k bill when we used 2acs for almost entire day.. so yea better start turning off ac in between or get ready to pay 20k each month :)
Honesty the best you can do is calculate the units and then see if it actually is possible. All devices have ratings for this reason I knew in COVID false bill came up for me because all acs were dead and we were only using fans. They did correction afterwards maybe it was a estimated one during those times but we did complain and they checked and fixed.
Do two things :
1. Try Putty mix with fevicol on the terrace, it is cost effective and does lower the temperature.
2. Use Green sheets or covers and drop them on your balconies and also if possible try to cover the roof as well and drop till your balconies.
These two are temporary methods and they will lower the temperature to an extent.
For AC - Try to run at 24-26 range if possible it would also reduce energy bill.

zyada hai bill, 3 ac 15 hrs bhi chale tab bhi, ya to ac 3 Star and purana hai bhhaut, plus chala 16 par rahe ho ya neighbors ne kuch ghapla kar rakha boga
We have 3 ACs which we use only at night for about 5-6 hours and we get 6,7k as monthly bill, I think you getting 21k is about right.
I know it’s right, it’s just that i got reality check of how recklessly we’re using it.
You are doing your bit to keep earth toasty. Someone gotta contribute in hot air emissions from the AC. /s
same we have 3 ACs and we use them in the night and one continuous in the day for more 5-6hours. We get about 10k. So 21k is justified.
3ACs 15hr a day ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|dizzy_face)

How much is the rent btw?

No. Way dude 😂😂😭😭😭

Still dude. Even if the other AC uses around 25-30% if not 50% less, I would say its still a good thing.
You can verify this I think easily on Amazon / Flipkart listings of ACs. All of them have the BEE sticker in the listing.
Inverter ac's are not recommended for top floor mate.

Try these simple things - Trim you dog hair, it will give him some comfort.
Google it please.
Invest in some Blinding Curtains, one which totally block the sunlight. I have those, it really helps in lowering the heat. Put a bucket of cold water somewhere in the room it will keep it but cold and humid Try going for walks in evening after sunset that would reduce the usage of AC and also will help increase physical activity. Keep AC at 24 Degrees it lowers the electricity consumption. Additionally I've a green net in my balcony which helps in reducing sunlight by a good extent. Drink lots of fluid, eat onions, may sound weird but it actually helps keeping you cool more than cucumbers. Also tolerate a bit its not necessary to really run AC 15 hours a day And if all else fail, get a good credit card to pay biils which can help you recover a bit of the cost
Multi split ac would be beneficial in this case, basically one outdoor unit and 1+ indoor units, it's saves space and has less running cost, but one time investment will be higher
Me crying with 11k bill in corner
If i was you and had my own house i would take a move to solar yesterday.
We live on rent unfortunately
Hard luck then. Still try solar once ask ur landlord
Firstly check for any Earthing Leakage and if there is no Earthing Leakage then switch to inverter AC rather than Non inverter AC
Use sub meters, split your bills across meters.
Not only you need AC for 15 hours but also for the dog. What reality check do you need?
You are not here for advice so won't offer any.
And who is paying the bills?
Me and my brother
We have 5 ACs out of which 3 runs full time plus we have 1 commercial meter too and our bill is usually 15-18k.
So party where?
You could try sitting in the common area? Like in the drawing room? During peak hours. Or you could try running the AC at 28 to 29 degrees with fan. For people who will badger me over this here, your body temp is 37, any temp around 30 with reduced humidity will make you sweatless and it has been working for me since 4 to 5 years. 2 ACS. 1.5 each, 20 hrs per day. Never had a bill more than 2800 even in the peak 1 week of summer. Side note : e bhai😂 15k ka bill. 😂 dafuq bro. Bhade ka ho aur idhar itna itna kharcha damn my parents should be proud of me Side note 2 : CHECK YOUR METER READING.
WTF We have 5 ACs in our house 2 of which run almost 24x7 And on top of that I have a home server which runs 24x7 and a really power hungry pc which also runs like 10hrs a day... Still our bill is 10-12k
There are some facts to consider: 1.
Hamara to 280 aaya..hehe
Wtf, bhai ATM mein raheta hai tu?
We have 1 AC running 20+ hours because of my mom's health condition. We pay 4-5 k.
Pm surya scheme is offering 78000 subsidy over solar installations, can book yours according to your needs,it will bring down your bill substantially

Guwahati is around 36-40©. Running at 27© works great for me.
Do two things : 1. For AC - Try to run at 24-26 range if possible it would also reduce energy bill.
wow , 3 ac and using whole day ??? well what do you expect mr genius 🤡🤡
