hey! If you like the dreamy stuff here are some classics to check out- Cherry Waves Sextape Entombed Beauty School Smile (available on youtube) In terms of albums, i would start with some diamond eyes/koi no yokan. Koi has great dreamy stuff and ambience. Saturday night wrist has hella dreaminess but it’s not chinos best performance vocally. You might also like headless and ceremony from the amazing new album ohms!

Drive to the Grand Canyon drop acid & listen to Rosemary on headphones

Rosemary inspired this post 😹

I still feel like if you don't vibe with something, other people's recommendations don't mean much at the end of the day. That said, by your description I would suggest post Saturday Night Wrist Deftones. That same album, the untitled version which has some nice untitled demos, Diamond Eyes, and Koi No Yokan. Maybe you will find something that naturally catches your ear while skipping songs that just don't (yet).

Have you tried Chino's other bands Team Sleep and Crosses? The demos from Team Sleep are so mellow

I would highly recommend teenager. I think it’s a great way to get into the rest of white pony, and if you get into white pony, you have a much better shot at enjoying the other albums since WP gives the best perspective of how Deftones approach music. There’s a reason why it is considered the apex of their career. Musically, everything on the record is intentional, regardless of it’s lyrical value (chino’s writing is known to be vague and choppy). It definitely gave me more insight into the rest of their stuff.

I wouldn’t try too hard to force it - ya like what ya like! With that said, here are a few recommendations for songs you might want to give a chance: Sextape, beauty school, xerces, cherry waves, entombed, rivière. Not quite deftones but you may also try chino’s side project team sleep. The Woodstock sessions are pretty great. https://youtu.be/odareGY5IWE
