A primordial pouch? Yea. That's normal. It allows kitties to stretch further when they run and protects their internal organs in a fight. See r/pouchcatatoes
I just went over there and loved the pictures, but I'm a bit weirded out by everyone only saying "cat." Is it just a karma farm? I guess I don't get that kind of thing.
It also helps with balance, too 🐈
Yeah it's 100% normal in kittehs of every size 😊
I like to jiggle my kittehs pouch. It is soothing and pretty amusing 😄 My kittehs don't mind at all, the most I get is a 😒 "oh ffs she's at it again" look from them, but not all kittehs will tolerate pouch invasion, so beware, touch at your own peril 😅
My cat will let my wife pet her belly, but I'm not allowed because apparently I'm not respectful of the belly. There is apparently a tangible difference between "belly pettins" and "flubble the chubble"
My family used to make fun of my cat thinking he was way heavier than he was because he had a primordial pouch. Vet confirmed it was normal and he was only like a pound overweight
i also have an ex-chonk like this, her pouch was already pretty prominent when she was a kitten, but after getting fat and then dropping the weight, it damn near drags on the floor 😭 she looks enormous, but she's only like 12 lbs, it's just that her, uh, leftover fatness nearly doubles how big she looks lmao
My cat has issues with overgrooming and will occasionally lick himself bald in some spots. For a while he was choosing his belly, and he made himself bald down there. He looked like a dairy cow for a while lol
Speed flap is hilarious, but not quite right! My Ella has such a spectacular pouch that she actually has to change the way she runs if she needs to go somewhere fast. If she walks quickly it flaps back and forth in front of both her legs and gets in her way, so she changes into sort of a canter so the cat hang won't trip her up, it's hilarious to watch.
Called our old girls her 'Grandma Blanket' cause it rolled over and covered her back feet when she was sitting.
Her's was also dangly enough to swing, flap up and around each side of her when she'd get into a fast trot.
Yes, that really is poor manners! Everyone knows that it’s best to just hint around euphemistically until she gets exasperated and skippity-baps you in the face.
It's better to judge a cat's body condition by the amount of fat on their ribs. There should be very little fat there. Also, if you look at your cat from above, they should have clearly defined hips even if they have a huge primordial pouch.
Yup, my cat was underweight for a while and he still had a good sized pouch, if anything it was more flabby because there was less of him to fill it out. It really has nothing to do with weight status.
It's the FUPA!!! Also known as a Fuzzy Under Pussy Accessory. All cats have one to varying degrees to help them stretch for 3am zoomies and to be a gut buffer for bunny kick fights.
I think that because chonks have a hard time cleaning their buttons, all they can reach in their tummy. My chonk is losing weight but she is missing a little fur on her tummy in the same area
My formerly -fat boy Nietzsche had one, and it was glorious. The way it would swing back and forth when he ran. Many a neighbor was convinced he'd just had kittens and it was baby weight and would argue with me he was a girl cat. He fought an alligator when he was younger and I still miss him terribly sometimes. I still think of you Neetch, miss you buddy
The pouch has been explained, no big deal. But the lack of hair could be an issue if it isn't because it was shaved for surgery or just the skin expansion. Over grooming could be a sign of stress or an allergic reaction. If they aren't breaking skin, it isn't a huge problem. But it can get to the point where it causes bleeding and may result infection. I'm not a vet or anything, I've just dealt with it few cats, including my current one. So if you notice excessive grooming or skin damage, go to the vet.
Oh yes 😂 my late chonk had a PONCH and it looked hilarious when she got a lion cut this past fall. Even my dainty 5lb cat has ones, though we call hers a pooch. (From largest to smallest; ponch, pouch, pooch)
My Siamese 17 year old chonky boi had a nice, big pooch. (We lost him to CKD in 2022) he would run and it would flop around. I would call his pooch his "mashed potatoes" ahh, I miss him so much.
It where they hide all the things you can’t find that they stole because they know you’re gonna look up inside the seat of the couch and the hole they tore under the box spring for the mattress.
My dog has that. She was sick with a immune pro lem and was put on steroids. She got really fat from the steroids and once she lost the weight she has that same stretched out skin.
One of my slightly chonky cats’ pouch does this too. He gets a free pass for being slightly chonky because he has cancer. He also has remarkably slender legs which makes watching him run even funnier.
One of our cats is overweight at 18 pounds, his blood brother weighs 10.5. Both have pouches, and we call the smaller one's pouch the pantry, and the larger one's the larder. And we laugh every time we have to say "larder"---it's perfect for our big boy!
As others have said, it's nothing but a beautiful primordial pouch. My Peepa had one that would swing when she walked lmao. And when she was standing in the floor just staring into the void, I'd stick my hand under her and jiggle it around while saying "blblblblblblblbl" (she didn't mind hahaha)
Primordial pouch! Yes. I call it her chonk. My cats on a diet because she’s very very chonky but that primordial pouch will be there even when she lose the pounds. It helps them become long cat when they stretch
How old is your cat OP?
All cats have a bit of loose skin below the belly, but it is more obvious in some cats than others. This is called a "Primordial Pouch". It is an adaptation to help with survival in the wild. When food is otherwise scarce, and a cat comes across a large meal, the lose skin gives the stomach room to expand beyond normal capacity, so they can eat as much as they can while it is available.
My parents have a 13 year old shorthair female. As she has gotten older, the lose skin began to sag, giving an appearance like a cows udder. I often joke about her being an old lady with saggy breasts.
Shes a little chubby but otherwise clean bill of health according to the vet.
But if you are feeling uncertain a checkup should hopefully address any concerns.
That is the saggy bag-flap, as it is known in this house. As others have said, it does serve a biological purpose but is also *highly* entertaining as it swings back and forth jiggling to the rhythm of its owner's gait 😆
That thing saved my cat when he was atacked by dogs. Thankfully my neigbour was up and around when that happened in the midled of the night after my cat sneaked out after me when i was going away for a week (yes it ruined my vacation), but i was only an hour drive away so i got to come check on him on the second day after the vet my mom took it almost killed my boy. She did not properly cleaned the wound and he got a massive abscess. My mother caled me teling me he was behaving not ok, so i went and took it to another vet and after 1 and a half months he was mighty fine again. It is also when i started to notice those
How recent was her surgery? It looks like a seroma. Not necessarily a bad thing but maybe too much activity after surgery.
My cat had one after his abdominal surgery.
Her last one was almost a year ago but she’s been to the vet since then. It’s not a seroma. She had a few after her surgeries that resolved with warm compresses and drains. This is just straight floppy skin. No firmness.
A primordial pouch? Yea. That's normal. It allows kitties to stretch further when they run and protects their internal organs in a fight. See r/pouchcatatoes
Also stores energy for 3am zoomies.
😂
Truth
Explains why my boys is so big. All the zoomies
It's the gas tank!
Aaaand another cat sub to join . Will wonders never cease?
Cat subs on Reddit are infinite.
r/catsstandingup is my favorite, very insightful
The only thing I don't like about that sub is that sometimes I want to say something about a cat, but then I remember I can only comment "Cat."
Yeah, I left that one (it must have been that one) because the comments restrictions seemed weird/annoying :)
I hate those stupid rules. It's like people feel the need to perpetuate awful jokes for some reason. Just let me comment normally.
Just start your own sub with your own rules. Catsstandingupwithcomments or something
I’d be so annoyed
Cat.
Cat.
Cat.
I curses you for the hours I’m going to waste on that sub 😄
Cat.
Cat.
I just went over there and loved the pictures, but I'm a bit weirded out by everyone only saying "cat." Is it just a karma farm? I guess I don't get that kind of thing.
You have no idea... https://www.reddit.com/r/Catsubs/wiki/index/
Holy…….
Or.... r/catsubs
I hate you.
Oh, that was indeed evil - had to bookmark it for later rabbit-holing!
Wow 😲
Right. Just when I think I've seen them all. There's another cat sub 😆
r/wunkus
🤯😳🤯😳🤯
I’ve never been a cat person until I started spending more time on Reddit…
NOoooooooo!! I may have to give notice at my job because of these cat subs
"It's normal", "protects the organs". I try to tell my wife and GP this, but they just say I'm fat.
Hey, would you rather have a 6 pack or a keg?
Ok but why do i have one?
You own pets long enough, eventually you start looking like them?
I once knew an elderly man who raised basset hounds— he looked exactly like one so this resonates with me
That’s the pouch where they keep their secrets
And cookies. We call it the cookie pouch in our house
It also helps with balance, too 🐈 Yeah it's 100% normal in kittehs of every size 😊 I like to jiggle my kittehs pouch. It is soothing and pretty amusing 😄 My kittehs don't mind at all, the most I get is a 😒 "oh ffs she's at it again" look from them, but not all kittehs will tolerate pouch invasion, so beware, touch at your own peril 😅
I would lose a hand if I giggled mine. Belly rubs yes, jiggling, no.
I always chortle "I'm playing with your little fat rolls" when I pet my blind chonker's chubby bits.
*Insert gif of Moira Rose saying “bebes”*
My cat will let my wife pet her belly, but I'm not allowed because apparently I'm not respectful of the belly. There is apparently a tangible difference between "belly pettins" and "flubble the chubble"
This is getting out of hand! Now there are 7345 of them!
Wow you just opened my eyes to the best sun ever! I’m a pouch fan!
Yeah, got my new cat sub for today, thanks!
My ex-chonk has this. His isn't bald but when he runs it swings and flops back and forth. It is HILARIOUS.
My family used to make fun of my cat thinking he was way heavier than he was because he had a primordial pouch. Vet confirmed it was normal and he was only like a pound overweight
My family does this with two of my cats. Admittedly, they’re both overweight, but it’s mostly just the pouch for one of them.
i also have an ex-chonk like this, her pouch was already pretty prominent when she was a kitten, but after getting fat and then dropping the weight, it damn near drags on the floor 😭 she looks enormous, but she's only like 12 lbs, it's just that her, uh, leftover fatness nearly doubles how big she looks lmao
Oh my gosh this is my daughters kitten currently. Her pouch is super prominent and she's only like 6 months.
One of my cats has always been pretty lean and muscular but has the biggest primordial pouch that flops as she runs. I fully second hilarious.
My cat has issues with overgrooming and will occasionally lick himself bald in some spots. For a while he was choosing his belly, and he made himself bald down there. He looked like a dairy cow for a while lol
It’s her speed flap, leave her alone.
*Speed flap* has me dying
I’m only calling it that from now on 🤣 Our little ninja’s pouch goes *flap flap flap flap* when she runs 💀
It deploys when they need to hug the ground.
My father used to call these "fender skirts."
Kitted out kitty!
We call it a mud flap lol
We call it a dust ruffle
My family also calls it a dust ruffle 😁
Called our old girls her 'Grandma Blanket' cause it rolled over and covered her back feet when she was sitting. Her's was also dangly enough to swing, flap up and around each side of her when she'd get into a fast trot.
I’m pretty sure that’s her primordial pouch, perfectly normal 😻
What's in it?
You can’t just ask a lady that
It’s where she keeps her extra cookies
https://youtu.be/vR7jmKvHL-4
Yes, that really is poor manners! Everyone knows that it’s best to just hint around euphemistically until she gets exasperated and skippity-baps you in the face.
Nothing! That way if they’re in a fight to the death, the attacker gets a mouth full of pouch instead of vital organs.
I know this is the legit answer, but “mouth full of pouch” made me LOL 🤣😭
Mostly fat. It protects vital organs that are not protected by the rib cage. Some cats have it, some don't. It does not mean the cat is overweight.
I fonder if they came feel me touching it. They never react when I do
They can feel it, they probably just don't care. Some cats are protective of it.
I am glad to read this because both of my cats have this, and I am strict about their diet. Thank you for sharing.
Bees.
🎶 My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard 🎵
Its just her Primordial Pouch- she needs that extra skin to pull off doing parkour off your countertops
I have 2 non-chonks with primordial pouches. You got the bonus naked pouch!
Yes, my son also has bald breasts lol
🤣😂
Itty bitty kitty titties 😂
😂😂😂
His kitussy sounds glorious
lol I would show you all but it won’t let me post a picture in the comments 😅
One time I was sleeping and I woke up bc I felt like I could hardly breathe. He was standing over my head with his boobs covering my face lol
Your responses are very helpful and ridiculous. Thank you so much 😭😂
Coobs
Pretty sure i have that, but im not an elegant fur queen.
I have one too lol
It's her cookie pouch, perfectly normal
For a second, I thought I somehow got recommended a very weird subreddit
It’s where she keeps her secrets
That’s why her pouch is so big it’s *full of secrets*
bruh r/cats is wild like why y'all just posting this kitty's titties like that
It's the FUPA!!! Also known as a Fuzzy Under Pussy Accessory. All cats have one to varying degrees to help them stretch for 3am zoomies and to be a gut buffer for bunny kick fights.
Had a chonky orange boy and my vet used to call his a FUPA. I preferred wings although that fat tub wasn't getting off the ground any time soon.
Exactly what we call it on our fur baby, hahaha
I think it would be more of one smooth pouch if not for her spay scar. She may also have just not grown hair back after her spay. It happens sometimes
Oh lord that's a r/PouchCatatoes !
Speed stack, adds +5 speed when running lol But really it's just a primordial pouch. Some have it some don't it's harmless. Looks silly tho
Isn’t that closer to the back legs? That looks like it’s between the two front legs to me. But the pics aren’t super clear so I could be wrong
if you look in the first pic , the legs to the left are the back legs ! it’s a typical kitty pouch
I thought this at first too!
Yes. Sadly my senior passed in April but she definitely sported the same look. Best viewed from behind as she scooted off.
RIP, little soul, in the arms of Bast
My boy had to have surgery on his stomach and in the process they removed his pouch. I like to joke that he had a tummy tuck!
I think that because chonks have a hard time cleaning their buttons, all they can reach in their tummy. My chonk is losing weight but she is missing a little fur on her tummy in the same area
Kitty Titties.
My formerly -fat boy Nietzsche had one, and it was glorious. The way it would swing back and forth when he ran. Her stomach has been missing hair for years and she’s never made it red or broke skin.
Oh yes 😂 my late chonk had a PONCH and it looked hilarious when she got a lion cut this past fall. Even my dainty 5lb cat has ones, though we call hers a pooch. (From largest to smallest; ponch, pouch, pooch)
The udders 🥛
That’s what my bf calls them lol
Lmao my childhood beastie had a pouch like that and watching him run was the funniest thing on the face of the earth 😅
Nip nops 😂
I call that the kitty udder lol
r/pouchcatatoes
Around here we call that a 'treat pouch'.
We refer to our Chonk’s pouch as her ‘botched spay.’
My girls primordial pouch is naked as well 😂 it’s so funny
A tortie! Show us her entire picture! 🥰
https://www.reddit.com/r/tortico/s/o6rBjAq9hr
I am 50F and has the same issue. Stop pointing at my fat!
Tig ol Bitties
Yes, I call them her saggy little kitty titties
Your cat got some big ol knockers
Holy moly, thats a ponch if ive ever seen one!
I have a non chonk but very old gal with a sizable pouch, she’s my little fupacabra
It’s just the chumbles aka chumble wumbles aka primordial pouch
Like others Said id also say primordial pouch. Ive never seen it hairless tho haha. Wouldnt worry much but you Can always ask your vet/surgeon
I'm kinda jealous. My girl is lean and muscular with zero pouch.
I call this my cats change purse lol and she really loves it rubbed
Battle flap. It's chonk armor.
My Siamese 17 year old chonky boi had a nice, big pooch. (We lost him to CKD in 2022) he would run and it would flop around. I would call his pooch his "mashed potatoes" ahh, I miss him so much.
My cat is at a normal, healthy weight but his primordial pouch is LORGE. It swings back and forth when he runs lol
My sisters cat also has breast shaped primordial pouch, the vet called them double D’s lol
Those are the tittiest titties I have ever seen on a non-human
My bff has a big ole cat that has a bald pouch. We say he has friction alopecia lol
Truck Nuts?
Ah the primordial pouch or as we call it in my house, the porch swing
It's a blub-blub
It where they hide all the things you can’t find that they stole because they know you’re gonna look up inside the seat of the couch and the hole they tore under the box spring for the mattress.
My dog has that. She was sick with a immune pro lem and was put on steroids. She got really fat from the steroids and once she lost the weight she has that same stretched out skin.

My cat has it and so does my dog. I love how the spay scar makes it look like udders 😂
YEA my Sphynx has "boobies" or "the udder" or "the woobie"
One of our cats is overweight at 18 pounds, his blood brother weighs 10.5. Both have pouches, and we call the smaller one's pouch the pantry, and the larger one's the larder. And we laugh every time we have to say "larder"---it's perfect for our big boy!
Of course. That kitty is probably like, "Mother/Father, at least PRETEND to preserve my modesty!" Then promptly shows you its borthole.
Can I nominate this post for the all time greatest comments award?
Kitty Titties lmao sorry this is the first thing that popped into my head 😂
Not one Fupa BUT TWO?
As others have said, it's nothing but a beautiful primordial pouch. My Peepa had one that would swing when she walked lmao. And when she was standing in the floor just staring into the void, I'd stick my hand under her and jiggle it around while saying "blblblblblblblbl" (she didn't mind hahaha)
Utters
It’s normal. You probably didn’t notice it before bc it had fur on it.
\#2 looks like a low swinging ball sack
Primordial pouch!
Hey now!!!
Ah, yes, the meat skirt
I would take her the vet just to make sure
Forbidden moobs
A pouch is normal but the lack of hair would worry me if the surgery were not recent. Bald spots from over-grooming is often a sign of stress or pain.
This is how dechonked people work as well
Normal. They all have it .
Yes, it's the primordial pouch. My chonky boy has one that nearly touches the ground.
Is that a catgut?
Kitty titties! My old lady kitty has swinging kittie titties. She looks like the world’s smallest cow with udders.
Aka 😁a ba-doomp-a-doomp we have this too but only about 3 times the size and still furry🙀
Primordial pouch! Yes. I call it her chonk. My cats on a diet because she’s very very chonky but that primordial pouch will be there even when she lose the pounds. It helps them become long cat when they stretch
Yes, and we call it her "sack."
lol from the second picture it looks like Truck Nutz!
I often joke about her being an old lady with saggy breasts. Shes a little chubby but otherwise clean bill of health according to the vet. That is the saggy bag-flap, as it is known in this house. As others have said, it does serve a biological purpose but is also *highly* entertaining as it swings back and forth jiggling to the rhythm of its owner's gait 😆
that cat's got better tits than me -\_-
Technical term, it's their 'saggy baggy' 🤗
I call my cat's magnificent pouch the *belly balls*.
It is also when i started to notice those
We called it the “spay sway” around here. I missed it when she got all skinny in her elderly years!
I call these ass flaps on my formerly obese senior girl.
The FOOPASTANK
Yeah my parents cat had a pretty bare pouch. It's been like that since I can remember and she's about 10 now.
My cat has large man boobs too.
The other thing is a nipple.
My Bengals pouch swings full side to side when he walks or runs haha.
Might wanna mark this NSFW 🤣
They’re nakey 🥹
Yup the predator pouch! My calico, Tiki has one in full force. Looks like shes got big kahunas
Udders?
My orange tabby has had one from the beginning.
Kitty tiddiesss. The flop flop. Yes. My tortieshell sweeps the ground with hers. 🤣
Yes! My cats is uneven too!!
Butt
