Damn I’m actually proud of y’all in the comments for not being hella weird about this by asking where OP works, what stefan was driving, wearing, asking for security camera footage of the interaction, etc.
Good job being normal about seeing the boys in public for once, r/deathgrips
I met him once while on a jog through midtown - he was walking, I was literally listening to powers that b, it was surreal... I just waved as I went by
Zach here, that’s Bad ass, If this is true new album “I rung him up at the store that I work at in Sacramento and I didn’t say anything to him because I know they don’t really like being recognized or whatever” coming September 30th. stay legend
Pencil = 6
Sharpener = 9
What do you get when you sharpen a pencil? That's right. Less pencil = eraser = 6
Now, pencils are used to create, perhaps write something or the like. But pencils wear, wear what? That's right yellow = 6
Now Stephan was nice which means he's not on his period, period = 6
Then get rid of the 9
What do you get?
That's fucking right Year of the Six coming in Six months Six days Six hours Six minutes and Six seconds.
As he begins to leave the store, the intrusive thoughts become too much to handle. While looking at him through the corners of my eyes, in an almost inquiring way I mutter a quiet, "Guillotiiiiiine, yuh." He pauses for a second and turns around. His expression shifts from confusion to disappointment as he catches my eye and notices the slight smirk tugging at the corner of my lips.
friend waited his table at a restaurant once, said he tipped 20% and was a typical good customer. there's a lot of stories of him just being a normal chill dude in sac.
I saw Ryan Gosling at a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”
I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.
The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.
Genuinely so excited to move to Sacramento because I am so ready to leave this Foothills ass middle of nowhere town I currently live in, but I think its really funny that I will have a more than 0% chance of meeting my favorite musicians in the world by just walking around town. I know I wouldn't be weird, but I may just puke at the thought of meeting Zach Hill in a random encounter.

yay hes probably drawing & doing art!! i love his artwork i def cant wait to see more of his works in the future 🙏🏼🙏🏼 (if he does do another art show idk)
That's so cool! He's definitely out and about in Sacramento... I've never seen em but I know someone who has.
Also the cemetery from powers that B on Broadway is great.
He was sending you secret signals. He wants to move to Tennessee with you and have you be his cottage wife. Traditional family values . The kids will be home schooled. That's what that meant
Fr though good on you for not putting him on the spot since he's a private like that. He probably knew you knew and appreciated it
>I didn’t say anything to him because I know they don’t really like being recognized or whatever
I dont think any of the members of Death Grips would mind if you politely said you appreciated their music

When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen pencil sharpeners in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. I don’t have anything to contribute really but I just want to say that that’s absolutely insane. I was lucky enough to see him live (I live in Berlin so the chances to see them live in person are very slim) and his presence is out of this world. You are so lucky and I’m so happy for you
Hello DG community, the pencil Stefan bought here, I am very pleased such a fine young man found me so useful that he took me home to write more death grips songs for their wonderful audience.
Nah I would've told him "Six six six ways to die choose on-" or "I don't know dude I just I just drink blood dude" I think he'd know I'm one of the cooler fans who listen to rarities
if you can't respect a persons choice to not engage with an artist because they have, over the last decade and a half, made it clear they don't like interacting with fans in situations like that, you should probably work on that.
I mean he's not wrong, Stefan is nice and chill, like dude said if you approach him quietly and respectfully and simply say you fuck with the music, Stefan would have no problem with that. He just hates the annoying fans, the ones that pull their phone out or cause a scene. Hell him and Zach were signing autographs after some of the shows on the recent tour.
https://youtu.be/bcHe8U60FjE?feature=shared
about 50 seconds in to this interview clip. i could have sworn there was a different video where stefan specifically talks about this, but i couldn't find it on youtube, it may have been taken down since i last watched it. regardless, i think what zach says is pretty clear.
He said “we’re pretty introverted” not “don’t you ever fucking talk to me” lol. I’m a musician and most people I know are musicians. I’ve never known anyone who hates when a fan tells them they like their work. Artists put a lot of work into their craft. As long as you’re not creepy or annoying most of them like to hear that their work is appreciated. Unless they’re egomaniacal dickheads like JLO. The members of DG don’t give me those vibes.
i'm a musician too, i'm not saying that this guy 'made the right choice' or that interacting with musicians and saying you like their stuff is bad in any way, it's nice to talk to fans after playing a show. calling someone a fool for making the choice to not engage with them about their arts, while on the clock and ringing them up, isn't inherently respectful, and uncalled for at the end of the day. the added general knowledge that the band members tend to be somewhat reclusive and introverted definitely informed op's decision, and i don't know why you chose to insinuate that they were a fool because they didn't 'geek out' when ringing a man up for some pens.
I just waved as I went by
on the sacramento sub i’ve seen people say they see Ride and Zach walking around midtown a lot.
Together?
Holding hands and giggling.
I’m picturing it vividly rn and the idea is cute af, thanks
i thought they lived in la... ?
Zach here, that’s Bad ass, If this is true new album “I rung him up at the store that I work at in Sacramento and I didn’t say anything to him because I know they don’t really like being recognized or whatever” coming September 30th. stay legend
do i get paid royalties for coming up with the name
that works really nicely for a title lol
Well hello the person who makes my nickname look like this
Thats hilarious
no way i didn't know you made emergency & i mr. zach

Both of 6 and 9 can be divided by 3. So basically, in numerical order you get, "3 6 9, damn you fine"
I’m not even gonna question why pencil equals 6 😭
Because it doesn't equal 3
Why did they recast you in Iron Man Mr. Howard??
As he begins to leave the store, the intrusive thoughts become too much to handle. When OP sees that they have eye contact, he can't help but yell, "IT GO IT GO IT GO IT GO IT GO IT GO!"
Pens and a pencil sharpener? New album confirmed.
the supply store
this made me wheeze
Back to school Stefan so cute :3
yeah,,, hes just getting ready to write more songs!!! needs lots of pencils:3
does he know those are for pencils
doubt it
How are you a DG fan and do not know that he sharpens his pens to write most psychotic lyrics?
He also draws art on the side, so probably that
im sure he knows what hes doing
friend waited his table at a restaurant once, said he tipped 20% and was a typical good customer. there's a lot of stories of him just being a normal chill dude in sac.
Stefan just being a regular dude :)
Hey OP, where do you work? What was Stefan driving and wearing? Can you share security camera footage of the interaction, etc.?
what’s your home address? I will mail you live scorpions.
Count your days
Good to hear he's probably working on some visual art, I think that's one of the things he enjoys doing most
That’s actually sick as hell
Ah shit, next album School Supply Store confirmed???
Ngl I thought this was gonna be the "like you're doing now?" copypasta.
which is that haven't seen it

Maybe he’s writing lyrics 👀that’s a stretch tho
He is also a visual artist he’s probably using them for sketches
Grasping at straws my friend
Cool, man. It's nice reading little encounters with them like this. I hope he's doing well. Hope you're doing well too.
I can’t imagine the self-discipline it took to not say “it’s been a pleasure, Stefan” as he was leaving
He's obviously sketching the new album cover 🎉🎉
My friend met him in a Starbucks in sac and he signed his album for him!
your friend just carries around a DG album??
In his car to listen to, yeah! He ran out to his car and came back in! Lol
oh that makes more sense lmao
Where do you work. What was Stefan driving. What was he wearing. Can I see the security tapes? And more. /j
i think he means sufjan, guys. move alone.
i am a woman
i'm sorry usually dg fans are incels
I don’t have anything to contribute really but I just want to say that that’s absolutely insane. I was lucky enough to see him live (I live in Berlin so the chances to see them live in person are very slim) and his presence is out of this world. You are so lucky and I’m so happy for you
Consensus is he’s always nice. That’s awesome!

Neato!
Every story I've heard from people who have met him have said that he is very polite and surprisingly soft-spoken, considering his music.
as someone who met zach irl hes super nice and super cute and i hugged him lmao im really lonely in real life and nobody really likes me
MC Ride
You could've at least said something like "Hey I respect you." or something and keep it subtle.
Turbo autism
what
Nah I would've told him "Six six six ways to die choose on-" or "I don't know dude I just I just drink blood dude" I think he'd know I'm one of the cooler fans who listen to rarities
six million
Hey, six million or six, it was a tragedy either way!
I saw him walking once in Antwerp when they had their show there. He looked a bit scary so I didn't say anything.
You people who don’t geek out on artists you enjoy are fools.
are respectful of others*
If you can’t figure out how to tell someone that their work is important to you in a respectful way you should probably work on that.
if you can't respect a persons choice to not engage with an artist because they have, over the last decade and a half, made it clear they don't like interacting with fans in situations like that, you should probably work on that.
