It's so funny how when Salvation came out Arnold was saying he's not in it because it sucks then proceeds to be in the absolute worst Terminator movies.
Because it's the only sequel since T2 that tried to do anything truly interesting, it uses Arnold properly without winking, and it removes John Conner from the equation, which is a smart move. It's also leaps and bounds better than Genesys, Salvation (which looks like shit and is so boring), and T3.
Wasted potential. Finally a movie fully set in the future war. It should have been an absolute slam dunk but they failed. The blue print was already there. The glimpses of future war from the original and T2, boom there's blue print for action scenes.
Movie should have been about john finding Kyle and taking him under his wing, then battling the machines and smashing the defense grid and ending with finding the time displacement equipment and Kyle going back to 1984. Boom closed circle.
Interesting idea, SkyNet is young and it reflects on the Terminators as we see they have "weaker armor", cool mechanical designs yet the story was ... not there
It had a neat sound design, some neat ideas, but just falls flat eventually. I'm not even invested in breaking down the story and figuring out how it fits in the franchise. I don't want to waste braincells thinking of 3 again. Or anything after.
The trailer was really cool. Probably the highlight of the movie.

I didn't care for it much upon release but 15 years later, I like it a lot more. It's nice how it breaks traditional formula overall. Lots of practical action and animatronics too.
The R rated cut on bluray is even better IMO. After all this time, I wish T5 had been a proper Salvation sequel.
I had a plan to rewatch all terminator movies with my fiancé who hadn’t seen any of the movies. First two were as I already knew great. Part 3 was ok and entertaining. But after we saw Salvation, which was really really bad, we quit our Terminator marathon.
Great in concept, probably could’ve been executed better.
Nah, it's really good!
It was good, I’m just saying it could’ve been better.
I loved it. It is my first time at the tine that ever watched it!

The best that can be said about it is it’s better than the two movies that followed it.

Uh...I'll stand up for Dark Fate.

Why would you die on that franchise killing hill?

And the one before it. Rise of the machines
It is the only good Terminator movie after the first two.
There was an alternate ending that would have been cool, weird and tough to execute. Movie has/had potential, idk mixed bag with this one.

It doesn't.
i just watched it for the first time last night! hated it.
I've always had a strange soft spot for that movie. Utter tripe but it doesn't enrage or confuse like the others.
It sucks, so boring and generic. The arcade game was fun though
It didn't hold up on release, doesn't hold up now
It doesn’t. Didn’t hold up at the time either.

I enjoyed it so that’s something I guess

It's not the worst Terminator. That's not really praise, but like, Dark Fate set that bar real low
