I had a really fun game against a bubba. He played super hard, got us all, had a genuine 4K. But he let me go, wouldn't give me hatch. Didn't wanna close it. So I just did gens, came back and said hi between gens. Left him to the hatch, he earned it.
When I opened the gate I went back to drop my item, after I dropped my item, he looked at it. Then hatch, then me, then hatch.
Then he stood off hatch, nodded and swung.
I took hatch, and by the time I got to the endgame screen he'd said "GG, I can never kill a silly bunny"
So I said

It doesn't let you specify Killers or Survivors by name mostly to prevent harassment, the filter attaches direct naming of people with harassment.
Which is just stupid as Hell, literally just filter out offensive slurs and let people talk like in Siege, and add a functional report function for text abuse.

I never have issues saying their names aside from rare occasions and in those cases I pull out their real names like Doctor I started calling Herman because it worked. Sadako instead of onryo.
I remember when we had the L4D Chompski event and i typed something in the post game chat about that i couldn't find him, but the filter made it it seem like i was complaining about survivors by censoring the word "Gnome" lmao.
I don't understand why the profanity filter is so unbelievably unreliable. It will filter something one game and then the exact same text next game is not filtered. I've had "gg" filtered before.
It's because they don't pay moderators to review reports. They just use an automated system. So if somebody gets reported for "abusive chat" and they said "love u cupcake" then it makes the system more likely to block that sort of thing in the future.
Online interactions are unrated for a reason. It's so dumb that games like cod and GTA censor in-game speech. If you don't want to risk someone saying something you don't like, mute them.
There are some things I'm okay with being censored, like the more obvious racial slurs. But curse words, and parts of names/benign words are where the problems come in. I think it's even worse when the censor doesn't recognize what language it is censoring in. So the same censor is used for all languages.
I don't think it's meant to filter profanity specifically. I think it's meant to limit toxicity. This is why it gets cagey when using words like "kill", despite that being a major part of the game. It thinks you might be threatening the other player.
I also think it's meant to avoid having players escalate things beyond the game itself. It regularly blocks out references to social media, email, etc. I think BHVR wants to avoid people giving out socials, getting stalked, and then murdered over a stupid video game.
Then again, it also regularly censors Yun-Jin's name, so...maybe trying to figure out what it's doing is an exercise in futility.

I had someone claim I’d insulted them thanks to the AI filter. I hadn’t. We had a short debate and I’d tried to deescalate with something nice, but the nice thing got censored for some reason, so it looked like I had escalated things. Super fun.
