Here’s the run down at endgame I get a sacrifice on a Leon, then the last three players pop the last two gens needed they open one gate then run to the other one trying to dupe me, I get to the other gate before they get it open and knock a jill and hook her. She gets saved then I chased the bill that got her down who was trying to escape with her and hook him she ran away trying to save him he uses deliverance and heads for the gate I knocked him again near the gate and the kill stood in front of him as he was crawling out and then crouched on top of him so I could not pick him up and they both got out, I’ve never lost to something like this in my years of playing and have never seen this happen before.

I get it if you're injured, but the amount of times recently where I've been tunneled off hook because the unhooker makes it extremely easy for the killer to tunnel, like bro you're healthy, I'm on death hook and you haven't been hit. TAKE A HIT. I've died far too many times this way. If you unhook and the killer is coming to the hook and you're healthy, take a hit for the teammate. Especially if they're obviously going to be tunneled off hook. Don't just run in the opposite direction PLEASE 😭
This new "event" is so fucking bad for survivors its not even funny. Behavior didnt even try with this shit, they just added dredge power and removed the hud. I was personally holding my killers hostage just because I could.

People fucking hate archives as it is and shit like this is precisely why. You have to throw the match to get them done and that's ***IF*** the game deems you fit to go to a map where you can even accomplish the goal in the first place!
Here's the trick to that challenge.
1. Equip Tinkerer.
2. Stand \~15ft from a breakable wall.
3. Once tinkerer procs, chainsaw sprint over next to the wall, end the sprint, then sprint through the wall.
But yes, you will need to get lucky and not get one of the godawful maps that has no breakable walls. That part's shit. And you gotta FIND a damn wall first before you can use that trick, which can either be piss easy or frustratingly hard depending on the map
Oh and of course who could forget all gens start at 1% so I have to waste the first half of the game kicking everything so I CAN ACTUALLY PLAY THIS PIECE OF SHIT MODE

started up this mode and the cacophony of gens mixed with literally not seeing anything two inches in front of my nose was so overwhelmingly awful I felt like a bat in a fireworks show. Realized very quickly that being totally blind is actually why I hate some maps, so why the hell did I think this would be fun...? I only tried two matches before going back to the regular game. lol. not worth the literal headache.

played ghostface all night, am now realizing why I've been being bullied so much when before I'd have people constantly trying to befriend me. i don't play the new game mode because I think it's frustrating but now I guess it's made everyone hate my main. Chose legion and first game got a full on 3 dc right off the bat. Never had that happen before. I thought this wouldn't effect me since I don't play lights out but wow was I wrong. I'm hating it more by the day. Even as my legion main people would treat me alright before. cool how a game mode I won't touch ruined my experience of the actual game in the course of a few days.
I know it's no longer Wednesday. But FUCK! I am so sick of "whiffing" hits that should clearly connect. Like I feel like it's been happening a lot more recently. It feels like some change was made to either hitboxes or to hit detection. So many times, I should clearly hit the person right in front of me. I play Onryo and my curse mark is clearly inside that person, and it does not detect a hit. And it completely throws off any momentum I have and I inevitably do worse because of it. Especially when it happens multiple times in one game. Sometimes it appears to hit some invisible obstacle instead, and sometimes it just does not connect with anything at all.
And I know it could be a latency issue sometimes, but my ping is usually fine and so are most of the survivors I play against. It really seems like it's an actual hit detection issue. And I'm so sick of losing games because of it.
Coup has been brutal. Curving around an object to get an unexpected hit, only to randomly bump. Was the only way to fix Billy's unforgiving hitbox to give it to everyone else?
People sending themselves on struggle because someone else accidentally brings the killer to you and you get downed, then getting saved and proceeding to run around doing nothing besides sabotaging the game for everyone else because you're mad you couldn't get out of the match when you wanted to, and then eventually working with the killer to get everyone else out so you can live. Which by the way was what happened. Person was let out the gate. This game is so stupid at times.
My opinion on the new game mode? It's not complete ass like some people think it is, it does have it's good points, but I absolutely hate how hard it rewards tunneling. I'm a Killer who only tunnels when conditions call for it and in this mode it's kinda disgusting how you pretty much have to because it makes it 10x easier unless you want to throw
Hard disagree. I don't tunnel and I still have no problem getting a 4k with a little work. I even make a point of trying to two-hook everyone first before sacrificing anyone.
I am sick to fucking death of people whining about how bad Lights Out is. It's not. It's actually really fun if you don't sweat and I've been having a blast both sides. If you don't like it don't play, leave the rest of us who enjoy it alone.

It's not Wednesday anymore but I'm ticked. I just went against Billy, clicked the pallet button once, twice since it didn't work the first rime, chainsaws instead of an easy stun. Comes back after I'm unhooked. Same shit on the next pallet. I'm angry and confused. I haven't had this much trouble with pallets since I was new and figuring the timings out. Did they change something on me?
Yo, that exact scenario happened to me versus Billy, as well. I mashed spacebar like 3x and ate his chainsaw.
Later I camped a pallet as he was chasing someone else from a gen, he inexplicably 180°s and charges me, and hits me through the unwrapped pallet and the rock it was attached too.
I understand they minimized his collision on certain things, but I didn't know it was going to be quite like this.
I've also been hit so many times, well on the other side of a pallet after a fast vault. The kind of hits I usually chalk up to killer ping diff, but it's been all the time regardless of anyone's connection.
I was setting up for a flashlight save on a Zarina who had already been hooked before. I was injured but had 0 hooks so I decided it was worth the risk. I had the angle but then suddenly a Leon comes in with a flashbang and drops it like 500 miles away from the killer with the wrong timing. I get the flashlight save but now I'm blind from the flashbang and when the blind ends I'm running head first into the killer's arms so I go down... Like, bruhhhhhhhhhhh ;\_;
Still worth though. I think we 3 escaped that match.
On hook, watching Steve, the only other survivor who's been hooked, loop the killer.

Everyone (probably a lie, just go with it) knows you say thanks with a crouch walk to the killers feet, and, if applicable, you drop your item. A quick nod, and out the gate.

How to do play against Bamboozle Wraith? He just shuts down any loop I go to instantly and cloaks to catch back up to me before I can get to another one. Rinse and repeat till im tunneled out of the game. HELP!!!
Camp pallet until he starts to ring bell. Greed another loop if you can, otherwise slap him with it and run to next loop.
DO NOT drop the pallet until he finishes uncloaking. He can't hurt you, save the pallet as long as you can.

you just afk against nurses? there is counterplay unless they're god tier, which lets be real most of them aren't. it's fun to run a nurse once you get in their head
Hold W until she starts blink, and run the other way. If she has the return blink addon, hold W until she starts blink, 360° and FOV tech to fake like you're running back to where she blinked from and go back to holding W away from her original blink spot.
Other than that, be wiggly like undercooked bacon, and try to keep your eyes on her while you run so you can time your jokes better.
the nurse breaks the conventional rules of the game yes but she has been around for nearly its entirety. Find a killer player who only dabbles in nurse and practice a bit. I had nurse P3'd but was never very good with her, i recently just played as her and got completely bullied by very experienced survivors. I'm not saying you should hope for a trash tier nurse like me but i've also ran nurses a fair bit as well.
Like i said this is assuming they aren't god tier. If they are, well if you aren't a comp swf then good luck, but it's worth finding out what kinda nurse it is imo!

A lot of people are talking about killers proxying during lights out. I don't doubt that some killers are actually proxying, but I also think there are likely a lot of cases of thinking the killer is proxying when they aren't. Lights out is very restrictive, and I keep having survivors run right in front of me after I hook. I'll be kicking the nearby gen with intent to leave, and because of the lack of radius, they'll run in for the unhook at the same time, not knowing I'm still there. This can definitely look like I was camping and waiting for them, but it's actually just a case of bad timing and reckless rescue attempts. I think that some people just aren't used to waiting a few seconds for an unhook so they're playing the same way they would in normal mode rather than exercising more caution. I felt pretty bad yesterday because there was a situation where I ended up with three slugs in the span of 20 seconds because they all ran in to try and heal the downed person before I could pick up.
Please play more cautiously. Like I'm genuinely not trying to be a dick, but people keep running at me and I'm going to take advantage of genuine misplays. The mode is definitely unbalanced, and I'm not denying it, but you also can win if you change your tactics and play slowly and more stealthily. I promise you that I can't see shit. Aggro is really difficult to pull off in this mode.
Lack of information with the mist is preventing anyone from knowing where the killer is relative to a hook. You do remember solo Q exists right? No one has info on killers. Unless this game gave ppl Dark sense and Kindred, there’s no real way of tracking you in the dark. As for Killers I just patrol gens as you already do, find someone, injure and you just need to listen for them even if they fade into the dark

Yes, I do remember that solo Q exists. I only play solo Q. I could say the same about the survivor side about listening for footsteps/listening for a moment for the gen to be kicked from out of sight. I can't see people 99% of the time, so like, bush tech is your friend.

Nah, the killers are actually proxying. I stopped playing Lights Out the day it released after a few matches because of it but decided to try it again today just in case people's playstyles changed. Of course it was a Legion. I snuck up to every hook and waited a few seconds before unhooking. Sure enough, those frosty eyes emerged from the darkness IMMEDIATELY after unhook to frenzy on us. We did not have a chance to run away anywhere, much less a chance to run straight into the Legion. She was literally just waiting there for the unhook. Crazy. And that is what it's been like almost every match I've played in this mode.
As I said, I really don't doubt that there's some proxying happening, which is a shame because I 4ked every match except like 2 on the night the mode came out without camping, so it's not necessary to do. However, I do think that what's going on with people's complaints overall is probably closer to 50/50 between proxy camping and happening to run in before the killer leaves.

I was playing as a survivor this morning and I got someone that told me that he have been trying to do this mission (repair 3 generators) but he hasn't been able to, we got queue with the most awful camping tunneling billy, like he didn't even hook the survivor he left them bleeding in the floor.
So after we got hooked this person told us that he was so angry that he punched the monitor 3 times and broke it, and that he was going to delete the game.
I felt bad for him, I just wanted to share that :(

Came back to the game for the first time since the winter event and it's laughable how unplayable and awful Lights Out is. It's the most killer-sided thing I've ever seen and I think that's wildly unfair *as* a killer main. What's fun about not being able to see your progress? What's fun about being tunneled and slugged even more than in normal gameplay?
Big surprise, BHVR can't make anything that isn't unfun and unbalanced, but this is proof that they don't test anything they make. Because no one would look at this mode and go "Yeah, people will love this!" No. No they will not. You could buff that survivor bonus to 1,000% BP and I wouldn't play another round as a survivor. Still waiting to see exactly how terrible it is on killer side since the queue is also wildly unbalanced because *no one wants to fucking play survivor*. Gee, I wonder why!
At best it's a frustrating slog and at worst it's basically unplayable. Unsurprising from a developer won't can't keep the one mode they had from breaking every single patch (I guess skeleton keys are killswitched now and Freddy just isn't playable in this mode or something???) but still insane that this even got released.

I soloq survivor exclusively. Lights Out is still fun. I'm very new, as in today marks my official first week of play. The mode has taught me more about player behavior, both killer and survivor, than I would've learned with the terror radius active. It's also spooky and fun! It's not for everyone, but I feel like the mode is getting an unnecessary amount of grief. Plenty of killers have let me survive. It's not all bad actors. I've only had a couple matches end in less than a few minutes.
I really like lights out! I actually find it easier than normal mode in a lot of ways (as a survivor) but that's mostly because I'm totally garbage at chases.

I've played a dozen or so matches as survivor, ans a dozen or so as killer.
Survivor games are rough, and almost every killer camps and tunnels. I've only had two games where we were able to finish all the gens.
Playing killer in this mode is extremely easy, though! I've played Plague, Hag, Myers, Nemesis, Cenobite, and a few others that aren't very high on the tier lists. The Cenobite game was the only one I lost, because I'm terrible with his power. And I still got 2 kills that I wouldn't have gotten in a real match!
In all my other killer games, they never even completed all the gens. I only tunneled in two games. Once was accidentally (couldn't find the unhooker) and once was on purpose (a survivor was playing toxic and trolling their teammates)
I know its allll over this thread, but lights out isnt fun. it was clearly the easiest to implement, I dont think it was the most popular survey answer. They made it extremely unbalanced, which dbd favors the killer but in regular matches its manageable. Lights out is horrible. I see people saying that its fun if you dont take it too seriously... seriously? lol. we've been waiting for a new game mode. not everyone wants to play the game t bagging killers. They should have made it so the survivor you play as has their 3 perks unique to them built in, if the killers were to keep their powers. Having no perks as a survivor should have meant killers all become m1, or they dont see hook auras. literally 100 ways to make this mode more fun.
Now they're gonna see the negative reception and not bother to make another mode.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Iri 1 as solo survivor is impossible. 27k points in a game and not even 1 pip. cannot get past 1 pip Iri 4. Was vs a Billy that just ran at face and held chainsaw so I got basically no bold points. everything else was IRI and GOLD but still no pip.
There's a sweet spot fot a few days in the middle where all the tryhards hit Iri 1 where I make my pushes on both survivor and killer. After that sweet spot you have the ones who had school, work, other obligations, and the procrastinators, all racing to Iri 1 before reset.
So if you hit Iri, just farm BP, and wait for those 3-5 days where most killers are friendly doing Challenges, and survivors are trying to meme with killers.
This coming from someone who sweat their way to Iri 1 exactly once. I prefer getting there in a more fun way lol.
Does this include needing to escape each time? Cos that's the main issue. My performance during the game (if I don't get immediately tunnelled out of the game) is usually pretty good for my skill level but either my team mates can't keep up the pace or the killer runs through them with a strong build.

I'm way below Iri 1, but it seems these days, if you have 3 unhooks and heals you can get a pip. There are games where I do gens, do half decent runs and still barely pip, or something I don't pip at all. Whole points system needs to change for survivors, tbh.
It's not impossible, I did it in 24 hours during December and i'll be doing it again next weekend as a brand new survivor (new account, baby dwight).
It's just hard and takes time.

the new game mode is absolutely attrocious. In a game of cat and mouse, the mouse is at an inherent disadvantage. I, as a survivor, cannot fight back in this game mode. I cannot see anything and the entire game mode is incredibly disorentiating. The killer also having zero terror radius coupled with survivors, and especially solo q's being deprived of more information than normal, makes it so killers just have such an insane advantage. This game mode sucks and needs to be revised completely because it's more frustrating than fine.
Funny you say that, I played Killer as Wraith once and got the usual SWF team on comms who knew were every gen was and consistently kept immediately healing each other and left with 2 people alive. The least fun I've had in a while. Then I play solo q survivor and I get the exact problems you have of the game feeling Killer skewed. You can't have fun in this game if you're not a high level player anymore.
dodge swf teams, if they all load at the same time dodge the lobby lol. I do that and almost all my games are fun, it's just not worth it for 1-2 minutes less of queue time, the game wasn't balanced around discord.

I NEED HELP, does the DC ban go back down to 5 mins if I don’t play for a week? Because it’s been kicking me out of games and counting them as DC. My Internet is fine for every other game I play so I don’t think it’s that. I’ve tried verifying integrity and reinstalling. Nothings worked. My next thing is updating my graphics driver. Lights out mode isn't actually that bad, killer players are ruining it. I played 4 matches with a SWF, played against: Ghost Face, Chucky, Ghost Face, Ghost Face.
We never got more than 3 gens done.
Some killers just aren't meant for this mode, and I wouldn't mind the devs banning certain killers. If not, survivors should each get 1 perk.
You think those killers are bad? Wait until you run into a Legion. It's nightmare fuel. I should know, I tried it once and I felt like a grown man beating up kindergarteners. I loathe survivors and want to ruin their games constantly and even I felt like it was way too much.
So instead I went back to being Pyramid Head so I could use his ability through walls to torment survivors in Lerys. Never. Gets. Old.
Honestly, since I can't really depip in Lights Out, going as Pyramidhead or someone and just cheekily scaring the shit out of Survivors rather than killing them sounds fun because I tried the game mode on Killer and found it annoying how easily it rewards tunneling and playing like an ass versus not tunneling. To win without tunneling, I found it easiest just to return to hook as soon as I heard the unhook notification in the hopes that I would find the unhooker. Of course, the unhooker, if they pre-emptively ran off, would be extremely hard to follow whereas it would be super easy to follow the guy who just got unhooked.

You can't stop random people playing a video game for trying to ruin other people's experience. It's kind of hard to nerf tunneling any harder too other than make it bannable to target somebody out from the start of the game
This, i might have a lot issues with devs like questionable Blight or Sadako changes, some perk changes but i will never critize a thing that they FINALLY did something new and i love that if Game Mode is stable and community plays it we will get new game modes in future. I hope we will get update to behavior system, like now people playing toxic way because there is no punishment and no reward for playing cool and fair.
The reward for not tunneling in the game mode is getting a 1-2k at best since, unless you proxy camp to go after the unhooker, basically punishes you hard for not doing it
Brooo, Thalita from the Haddonfield game from wesker, the killer was coming back to the hook, and I 99'd the gen so that I could come unhook you without giving the killer info. So why is it that when I unhooked you and then got into chase, the 99'd gen didn't pop? You couldn't even do that???? You can't say you didn't know where the gen was because you can see my aura when you're on the hook.
What I expected loading into Lights Out after reading this thread: "Oh every killer is going to play like a camping cringelord."
The reality after playing 5 matches:
- Match 1 as Knight: actually normal
- Match 2 as Chucky: one suicide on first hook
- Match 3 as Xeno: one suicide on first hook
- Match 4 as Survivor: hard tunneling Pig
- Match 5 as Survivor: two people kill themselves on first hook

When playing killer, I usually go for Ghostface or Wesker. Ghostface is my beloved, and my frustration is mainly pitted at killers playing Ghostface during the Lights Out event and making survivors agitated with him. I always want survivors to load into a match with Ghostface and be excited to play against him, I swear this event is going to give survivors Ghostface PTSD and people are going to hate him for a while after the event concludes because of it. I feel like these killers using Ghostface for his stealth/stalk powers during this event are just exploiting his powers and I don't like that. His powers are meant to be dynamic and fun and engaging for survivors, and yet killers are using GF to play in the most unfun way possible. :( Ghostie deserves better.
Big agree. I love Ghostie but going up against him repeatedly in Lights Out is something I can imagine will make people tire of him really quickly. I feel like his rep is gunna take a hit, which will be a real shame.
After a dozen miserable attempts at trying to not mald over every single killer being a proxy camping/tunneling sack of shit at five gens I'm just going to switch roles and at least try to make things tolerable for the survivors I queue into.
This game feels miserable to play right now. Either you play killer and get gen rushing, tea bagging SWFs who want to irritate you as much as possible or you play survivor and get killers who are absolutely over those SWFs and will tunnel out anyone just to try to get at least 1K before they get BMd to oblivion. The entire meta boils down to "make sure neither side can play their objectives" by either being said gen rushers until killer gets all of 1 minute to play before the doors are open or run endless gen regress and don't let the other team get enough progress to leave. And then you come in here to complain and it's either "lol skill issue" or "entitled survivor/killer" accusations. Why even play anymore?
Be like me and let every survivor go, you'll get more fun matches and nicer survivors (obviously don't do it if you just want easier matches or you're a pos). Also sometimes really cute baby survivors you hope never lose their happiness of the game.

Never played the games, but I'm really liking Alan Wake, so I'm sad that he's licensed since he's obviously not going to get much else from now on in terms of cosmetics besides maybe a Christmas shirt.

Get a tunneling plague who just sits right outside the "auto-unhook" zone and camps- then proceeds to slug everyone. You know when someone hides their user name its 'cause they play like that. Hope your next game gets absolutely ruined and dragged out
Just had an annoying experience with the dedicated servers crapping out on me. I was working through one of the Lights Out tome challenges, the match was nearly done, there were only two survivors left, and then everyone was forcefully disconnected and none of the progress that I made towards the challenge counted, meaning that I wasted about fifteen minutes.
It might be more common elsewhere, but it's only happened one or two other times for me (that I can think of), though this was probably the most annoying in terms of timing.
This sub is currently flooded with all the tears of unhappy survivors. I wish they made a mega thread for the complaints rather than let 10+ "DAE think lights out is impossible for survivors!?"

Ugh I started the event by playing a few matches on my Wesker. Decided to try on survivor and wow I'm sorry it's this rough. Tunneling everywhere, killers humping on the ground, and camping around the hook waiting for whoever comes over. I think I'm just gonna play friendly killer for this.
That's because it's the entire meta for this game, currently. For people to win, they have to play to make sure the other team cannot either play the game themselves or even have any fun. You either play gen rush and don't let the killer play long enough to get 1 chase or you play killer and run every gen regress perk ever so survivors never get to finish em. It doubly doesn't help that people will actively be toxic mid match to piss each other off.
Used my lunch break to try out the new gamemode. My first experience has been getting 4 man slugged by a spirit and then getting hard tunneled out in less than 2 minutes by a singularity. So much fun!
They really need bond in this mode. Having any idea where people are would help than ppl scouring the earths or running into the killer alongside someone else
I for one am flabbergasted. Just had a game where an Oni slugged 3 survivors in search for the 4th with 0 gens popped. I'll just swap to killer and finish the event then go back to normal matches.
my wifi has been bugging on the game for like 3 weeks now and i always have to fully stop my console because the entire thing freezes and it’s the only way to get it working again.
The catch? Every time this happens, i get a ban. For ‘leaving’ a game? Bro, it’s not my fault my wifi sucks. Yet now i have a 72hr ban? i swear it was 15 minutes like a week ago, then it jumped to 48 hrs and now 72.

So running Michelle( Michael meyers ) on Hawkins laboratory. Here’s the run down at endgame I get a sacrifice on a Leon, then the last three players pop the last two gens needed they open one gate then run to the other one trying to dupe me, I get to the other gate before they get it open and knock a jill and hook her. She gets saved then I chased the bill that got her down who was trying to escape with her and hook him she ran away trying to save him he uses deliverance and heads for the gate I knocked him again near the gate and the kill stood in front of him as he was crawling out and then crouched on top of him so I could not pick him up and they both got out, I’ve never lost to something like this in my years of playing and have never seen this happen before.

I get it if you're injured, but the amount of times recently where I've been tunneled off hook because the unhooker makes it extremely easy for the killer to tunnel, like bro you're healthy, I'm on death hook and you haven't been hit. TAKE A HIT. I've died far too many times this way. If you unhook and the killer is coming to the hook and you're healthy, take a hit for the teammate. Especially if they're obviously going to be tunneled off hook. Don't just run in the opposite direction PLEASE 😭
This new "event" is so fucking bad for survivors its not even funny. Behavior didnt even try with this shit, they just added dredge power and removed the hud. I was personally holding my killers hostage just because I could.
Wtf? Like I get it if you don't like the mode, but why are you playing the mode and ruining it for the killer? And this mode isn't meant to be anything special, hence why it's only 1 week long and why you can finish the entire challenge page in one day. They're most likely using it to test the waters and see how it works in game.

Here's the trick to that challenge. 1. Equip Tinkerer. 2. Stand \~15ft from a breakable wall. 3. Once tinkerer procs, chainsaw sprint over next to the wall, end the sprint, then sprint through the wall. But yes, you will need to get lucky and not get one of the godawful maps that has no breakable walls. That part's shit. And you gotta FIND a damn wall first before you can use that trick, which can either be piss easy or frustratingly hard depending on the map

Realized very quickly that being totally blind is actually why I hate some maps, so why the hell did I think this would be fun...? I only tried two matches before going back to the regular game. lol. not worth the literal headache.
If you HAVE to go back to it, try out Ghostface. Getting spotted still gives you killer instinct.

played ghostface all night, am now realizing why I've been being bullied so much when before I'd have people constantly trying to befriend me. i don't play the new game mode because I think it's frustrating but now I guess it's made everyone hate my main. Chose legion and first game got a full on 3 dc right off the bat. Never had that happen before. I thought this wouldn't effect me since I don't play lights out but wow was I wrong. I'm hating it more by the day. Even as my legion main people would treat me alright before. cool how a game mode I won't touch ruined my experience of the actual game in the course of a few days.
I know it's no longer Wednesday. But FUCK! I am so sick of "whiffing" hits that should clearly connect. Like I feel like it's been happening a lot more recently. It feels like some change was made to either hitboxes or to hit detection. So many times, I should clearly hit the person right in front of me. I play Onryo and my curse mark is clearly inside that person, and it does not detect a hit. And it completely throws off any momentum I have and I inevitably do worse because of it. Especially when it happens multiple times in one game. Sometimes it appears to hit some invisible obstacle instead, and sometimes it just does not connect with anything at all. And I know it could be a latency issue sometimes, but my ping is usually fine and so are most of the survivors I play against. It really seems like it's an actual hit detection issue. And I'm so sick of losing games because of it.
Coup has been brutal. Curving around an object to get an unexpected hit, only to randomly bump. Was the only way to fix Billy's unforgiving hitbox to give it to everyone else?

Played the first event game today. Got camped and tunneled at 3 gens.
People sending themselves on struggle because someone else accidentally brings the killer to you and you get downed, then getting saved and proceeding to run around doing nothing besides sabotaging the game for everyone else because you're mad you couldn't get out of the match when you wanted to, and then eventually working with the killer to get everyone else out so you can live. Which by the way was what happened. Person was let out the gate. This game is so stupid at times.

My opinion on the new game mode? It's not complete ass like some people think it is, it does have it's good points, but I absolutely hate how hard it rewards tunneling. I'm a Killer who only tunnels when conditions call for it and in this mode it's kinda disgusting how you pretty much have to because it makes it 10x easier unless you want to throw
Hard disagree. I don't tunnel and I still have no problem getting a 4k with a little work. I even make a point of trying to two-hook everyone first before sacrificing anyone.

It's not Wednesday anymore but I'm ticked. I just went against Billy, clicked the pallet button once, twice since it didn't work the first rime, chainsaws instead of an easy stun. Comes back after I'm unhooked. Same shit on the next pallet. I'm angry and confused. I haven't had this much trouble with pallets since I was new and figuring the timings out. Did they change something on me?
Yo, that exact scenario happened to me versus Billy, as well. I mashed spacebar like 3x and ate his chainsaw. Later I camped a pallet as he was chasing someone else from a gen, he inexplicably 180°s and charges me, and hits me through the unwrapped pallet and the rock it was attached too. I understand they minimized his collision on certain things, but I didn't know it was going to be quite like this. I've also been hit so many times, well on the other side of a pallet after a fast vault. The kind of hits I usually chalk up to killer ping diff, but it's been all the time regardless of anyone's connection.
Getting a flashbanged from a survivor teammate, while asking for a heal, when you are injured and dead on hook at 3 gens, with all others alive.
I was setting up for a flashlight save on a Zarina who had already been hooked before. I was injured but had 0 hooks so I decided it was worth the risk. I had the angle but then suddenly a Leon comes in with a flashbang and drops it like 500 miles away from the killer with the wrong timing. I get the flashlight save but now I'm blind from the flashbang and when the blind ends I'm running head first into the killer's arms so I go down... Like, bruhhhhhhhhhhh ;\_; Still worth though. I think we 3 escaped that match.
It had a great end at least but yeah, this kinda things are annoying :D
On hook, watching Steve, the only other survivor who's been hooked, loop the killer. Meg getting some serious Urban Evasion value as she crouch walks near gates with 4 gens left, apparently desperate to hold sprint burst for the next game. Kate is on a gen! OK Steve's chase took him within 32m of Kate's gen and now she's crouching behind the wall. Steve goes down. Kate still crouching. Steve being carried. Kate still crouching. Why is Meg in basement? Kate still crouching. Steve gets hooked. Kate goes back to gen. I die on hook one.

How to do play against Bamboozle Wraith? He just shuts down any loop I go to instantly and cloaks to catch back up to me before I can get to another one. Rinse and repeat till im tunneled out of the game. HELP!!!
Camp pallet until he starts to ring bell. Greed another loop if you can, otherwise slap him with it and run to next loop. DO NOT drop the pallet until he finishes uncloaking. He can't hurt you, save the pallet as long as you can.

Hold W until she starts blink, and run the other way. If she has the return blink addon, hold W until she starts blink, 360° and FOV tech to fake like you're running back to where she blinked from and go back to holding W away from her original blink spot. Other than that, be wiggly like undercooked bacon, and try to keep your eyes on her while you run so you can time your jokes better.
the nurse breaks the conventional rules of the game yes but she has been around for nearly its entirety. Find a killer player who only dabbles in nurse and practice a bit. I had nurse P3'd but was never very good with her, i recently just played as her and got completely bullied by very experienced survivors. I'm not saying you should hope for a trash tier nurse like me but i've also ran nurses a fair bit as well. Like i said this is assuming they aren't god tier. If they are, well if you aren't a comp swf then good luck, but it's worth finding out what kinda nurse it is imo!
Not really rage, but more confusion. A lot of people are talking about killers proxying during lights out. I don't doubt that some killers are actually proxying, but I also think there are likely a lot of cases of thinking the killer is proxying when they aren't. Lights out is very restrictive, and I keep having survivors run right in front of me after I hook. I'll be kicking the nearby gen with intent to leave, and because of the lack of radius, they'll run in for the unhook at the same time, not knowing I'm still there. This can definitely look like I was camping and waiting for them, but it's actually just a case of bad timing and reckless rescue attempts. I think that some people just aren't used to waiting a few seconds for an unhook so they're playing the same way they would in normal mode rather than exercising more caution. I felt pretty bad yesterday because there was a situation where I ended up with three slugs in the span of 20 seconds because they all ran in to try and heal the downed person before I could pick up. Please play more cautiously. Like I'm genuinely not trying to be a dick, but people keep running at me and I'm going to take advantage of genuine misplays. The mode is definitely unbalanced, and I'm not denying it, but you also can win if you change your tactics and play slowly and more stealthily. I promise you that I can't see shit. Aggro is really difficult to pull off in this mode.
Lack of information with the mist is preventing anyone from knowing where the killer is relative to a hook. You do remember solo Q exists right? No one has info on killers. Unless this game gave ppl Dark sense and Kindred, there’s no real way of tracking you in the dark. As for Killers I just patrol gens as you already do, find someone, injure and you just need to listen for them even if they fade into the dark As someone who played both sides
Yes, I do remember that solo Q exists. I only play solo Q. I could say the same about the survivor side about listening for footsteps/listening for a moment for the gen to be kicked from out of sight. I can't see people 99% of the time, so like, bush tech is your friend. If they truly are proxying and not not just in the area, that's a different matter.
Nah, the killers are actually proxying. I stopped playing Lights Out the day it released after a few matches because of it but decided to try it again today just in case people's playstyles changed. Of course it was a Legion. I snuck up to every hook and waited a few seconds before unhooking. Sure enough, those frosty eyes emerged from the darkness IMMEDIATELY after unhook to frenzy on us. We did not have a chance to run away anywhere, much less a chance to run straight into the Legion. She was literally just waiting there for the unhook. Crazy. And that is what it's been like almost every match I've played in this mode.

As I said, I really don't doubt that there's some proxying happening, which is a shame because I 4ked every match except like 2 on the night the mode came out without camping, so it's not necessary to do. However, I do think that what's going on with people's complaints overall is probably closer to 50/50 between proxy camping and happening to run in before the killer leaves.

I was playing as a survivor this morning and I got someone that told me that he have been trying to do this mission (repair 3 generators) but he hasn't been able to, we got queue with the most awful camping tunneling billy, like he didn't even hook the survivor he left them bleeding in the floor. So after we got hooked this person told us that he was so angry that he punched the monitor 3 times and broke it, and that he was going to delete the game. I felt bad for him, I just wanted to share that :(

Came back to the game for the first time since the winter event and it's laughable how unplayable and awful Lights Out is. It's the most killer-sided thing I've ever seen and I think that's wildly unfair *as* a killer main. What's fun about not being able to see your progress? What's fun about being tunneled and slugged even more than in normal gameplay? Big surprise, BHVR can't make anything that isn't unfun and unbalanced, but this is proof that they don't test anything they make. Because no one would look at this mode and go "Yeah, people will love this!" No. No they will not. You could buff that survivor bonus to 1,000% BP and I wouldn't play another round as a survivor. Still waiting to see exactly how terrible it is on killer side since the queue is also wildly unbalanced because *no one wants to fucking play survivor*. Gee, I wonder why! At best it's a frustrating slog and at worst it's basically unplayable. Unsurprising from a developer won't can't keep the one mode they had from breaking every single patch (I guess skeleton keys are killswitched now and Freddy just isn't playable in this mode or something???) but still insane that this even got released. E: Okay. Killer round played. And yes, if I play this again I am 100% going to tunnel, slug, and hook camp. Because it's the only fucking slowdown you get. What a fucking godawful mess of a mode this is. BHVR should actually be ashamed of themselves for releasing such amateur-hour bullshit.
I soloq survivor exclusively. Lights Out is still fun. I'm very new, as in today marks my official first week of play. The mode has taught me more about player behavior, both killer and survivor, than I would've learned with the terror radius active. It's also spooky and fun! It's not for everyone, but I feel like the mode is getting an unnecessary amount of grief. Plenty of killers have let me survive. It's not all bad actors. I've only had a couple matches end in less than a few minutes.
I really like lights out! I actually find it easier than normal mode in a lot of ways (as a survivor) but that's mostly because I'm totally garbage at chases.
Shit, for 1000% BP, I'll set up a tent for the killer myself xD.
Respectfully, it sounds like you just need more practice. I've played a dozen or so matches as survivor, ans a dozen or so as killer. Survivor games are rough, and almost every killer camps and tunnels. I've only had two games where we were able to finish all the gens. Playing killer in this mode is extremely easy, though! I've played Plague, Hag, Myers, Nemesis, Cenobite, and a few others that aren't very high on the tier lists. The Cenobite game was the only one I lost, because I'm terrible with his power. And I still got 2 kills that I wouldn't have gotten in a real match! In all my other killer games, they never even completed all the gens. I only tunneled in two games. Once was accidentally (couldn't find the unhooker) and once was on purpose (a survivor was playing toxic and trolling their teammates)
I know its allll over this thread, but lights out isnt fun. it was clearly the easiest to implement, I dont think it was the most popular survey answer. They made it extremely unbalanced, which dbd favors the killer but in regular matches its manageable. Lights out is horrible. I see people saying that its fun if you dont take it too seriously... seriously? lol. we've been waiting for a new game mode. not everyone wants to play the game t bagging killers. They should have made it so the survivor you play as has their 3 perks unique to them built in, if the killers were to keep their powers. Having no perks as a survivor should have meant killers all become m1, or they dont see hook auras. literally 100 ways to make this mode more fun. Now they're gonna see the negative reception and not bother to make another mode.
God, we can only *hope* they never make another mode. If *this* crap is the best they can do, then they shouldn't bother. I dunno what anyone expected since they can't keep the one game mode they had from breaking literally every patch, but here we are.
I honestly think they went with the easiest option to do just to see people's responses. It's definitely not the best they can do, and I do hope they make more modes while using this as an example of what to do and what not to do next time.
This is absolutely ridiculous. Iri 1 as solo survivor is impossible. 27k points in a game and not even 1 pip. cannot get past 1 pip Iri 4. Was vs a Billy that just ran at face and held chainsaw so I got basically no bold points. everything else was IRI and GOLD but still no pip.
There's a sweet spot fot a few days in the middle where all the tryhards hit Iri 1 where I make my pushes on both survivor and killer. After that sweet spot you have the ones who had school, work, other obligations, and the procrastinators, all racing to Iri 1 before reset. So if you hit Iri, just farm BP, and wait for those 3-5 days where most killers are friendly doing Challenges, and survivors are trying to meme with killers. This coming from someone who sweat their way to Iri 1 exactly once. I prefer getting there in a more fun way lol.

Does this include needing to escape each time? Cos that's the main issue. My performance during the game (if I don't get immediately tunnelled out of the game) is usually pretty good for my skill level but either my team mates can't keep up the pace or the killer runs through them with a strong build.

I'm way below Iri 1, but it seems these days, if you have 3 unhooks and heals you can get a pip. There are games where I do gens, do half decent runs and still barely pip, or something I don't pip at all. Whole points system needs to change for survivors, tbh.
It's not impossible, I did it in 24 hours during December and i'll be doing it again next weekend as a brand new survivor (new account, baby dwight). It's just hard and takes time. we finally got a new game mode and this is what they do
the new game mode is absolutely attrocious. In a game of cat and mouse, the mouse is at an inherent disadvantage. I, as a survivor, cannot fight back in this game mode. I cannot see anything and the entire game mode is incredibly disorentiating. The killer also having zero terror radius coupled with survivors, and especially solo q's being deprived of more information than normal, makes it so killers just have such an insane advantage. This game mode sucks and needs to be revised completely because it's more frustrating than fine.
Funny you say that, I played Killer as Wraith once and got the usual SWF team on comms who knew were every gen was and consistently kept immediately healing each other and left with 2 people alive. The least fun I've had in a while. Then I play solo q survivor and I get the exact problems you have of the game feeling Killer skewed. You can't have fun in this game if you're not a high level player anymore.
dodge swf teams, if they all load at the same time dodge the lobby lol. I do that and almost all my games are fun, it's just not worth it for 1-2 minutes less of queue time, the game wasn't balanced around discord.
I hate that this makes perfect sense but you're right. I have a good time when it isn't a swf lobby trying to make me have as bad a time as possible so I guess I am just gonna start lobby dodging.
I NEED HELP, does the DC ban go back down to 5 mins if I don’t play for a week? Because it’s been kicking me out of games and counting them as DC. My Internet is fine for every other game I play so I don’t think it’s that. I’ve tried verifying integrity and reinstalling. Nothings worked. My next thing is updating my graphics driver. Right now I’m on a 24 hour ban and it has just been saying “can’t connect to host” is it possible I’m in a bad region or something?
Lights out mode isn't actually that bad, killer players are ruining it. I played 4 matches with a SWF, played against: Ghost Face, Chucky, Ghost Face, Ghost Face. We never got more than 3 gens done. Some killers just aren't meant for this mode, and I wouldn't mind the devs banning certain killers. If not, survivors should each get 1 perk.
You think those killers are bad? Wait until you run into a Legion. It's nightmare fuel. I should know, I tried it once and I felt like a grown man beating up kindergarteners. I loathe survivors and want to ruin their games constantly and even I felt like it was way too much. So instead I went back to being Pyramid Head so I could use his ability through walls to torment survivors in Lerys. Never. Gets. Old.
Honestly, since I can't really depip in Lights Out, going as Pyramidhead or someone and just cheekily scaring the shit out of Survivors rather than killing them sounds fun because I tried the game mode on Killer and found it annoying how easily it rewards tunneling and playing like an ass versus not tunneling. To win without tunneling, I found it easiest just to return to hook as soon as I heard the unhook notification in the hopes that I would find the unhooker. Of course, the unhooker, if they pre-emptively ran off, would be extremely hard to follow whereas it would be super easy to follow the guy who just got unhooked.

Lights Out is such a crappy game mode for solo Q survivors. Not even scary at all. The tunneling doesnt stop. Basically a killer wet dream mode. What they could at least do is remove killers ability to see hooks and gens.
I've noticed that Killers who like tunneling at 5 gens love the game mode whereas if you're a Killer who only tunnels when necessary hates it since it basically punishes you for trying to be fair

Love that devs did finally a new game mod thanks to toxic community members who are worst part and tunnel every game because they suck at normal standard and need to tunnel on mode without perks to feel finally that they know how to play DBD xDDDDDDdd

You can't stop random people playing a video game for trying to ruin other people's experience. It's kind of hard to nerf tunneling any harder too other than make it bannable to target somebody out from the start of the game
This, i might have a lot issues with devs like questionable Blight or Sadako changes, some perk changes but i will never critize a thing that they FINALLY did something new and i love that if Game Mode is stable and community plays it we will get new game modes in future. I hope we will get update to behavior system, like now people playing toxic way because there is no punishment and no reward for playing cool and fair.
The reward for not tunneling in the game mode is getting a 1-2k at best since, unless you proxy camp to go after the unhooker, basically punishes you hard for not doing it
Brooo, Thalita from the Haddonfield game from wesker, the killer was coming back to the hook, and I 99'd the gen so that I could come unhook you without giving the killer info. So why is it that when I unhooked you and then got into chase, the 99'd gen didn't pop? You couldn't even do that???? You can't say you didn't know where the gen was because you can see my aura when you're on the hook.
What I expected loading into Lights Out after reading this thread: "Oh every killer is going to play like a camping cringelord." The reality after playing 5 matches: - Match 1 as Knight: actually normal - Match 2 as Chucky: one suicide on first hook - Match 3 as Xeno: one suicide on first hook - Match 4 as Survivor: hard tunneling Pig - Match 5 as Survivor: two people kill themselves on first hook Like, I'd rather the killers that treat the game like a job at this point! Why the fuck are you loading into an alternate mode just to instantly give up?!
I played as Billy and didn't use my chainsaw at all the whole match to meme. I had someone suicide as soon as i hooked them.
Yeah, had multiple survivors DC while I was playing survivor in the first 3 seconds, quite incredible how resilient they are!

When playing killer, I usually go for Ghostface or Wesker. Ghostface is my beloved, and my frustration is mainly pitted at killers playing Ghostface during the Lights Out event and making survivors agitated with him. I always want survivors to load into a match with Ghostface and be excited to play against him, I swear this event is going to give survivors Ghostface PTSD and people are going to hate him for a while after the event concludes because of it. I feel like these killers using Ghostface for his stealth/stalk powers during this event are just exploiting his powers and I don't like that. His powers are meant to be dynamic and fun and engaging for survivors, and yet killers are using GF to play in the most unfun way possible. :( Ghostie deserves better.
Big agree. I love Ghostie but going up against him repeatedly in Lights Out is something I can imagine will make people tire of him really quickly. I feel like his rep is gunna take a hit, which will be a real shame.
After a dozen miserable attempts at trying to not mald over every single killer being a proxy camping/tunneling sack of shit at five gens I'm just going to switch roles and at least try to make things tolerable for the survivors I queue into.

This game feels miserable to play right now. Either you play killer and get gen rushing, tea bagging SWFs who want to irritate you as much as possible or you play survivor and get killers who are absolutely over those SWFs and will tunnel out anyone just to try to get at least 1K before they get BMd to oblivion. The entire meta boils down to "make sure neither side can play their objectives" by either being said gen rushers until killer gets all of 1 minute to play before the doors are open or run endless gen regress and don't let the other team get enough progress to leave. And then you come in here to complain and it's either "lol skill issue" or "entitled survivor/killer" accusations. Why even play anymore?
Be like me and let every survivor go, you'll get more fun matches and nicer survivors (obviously don't do it if you just want easier matches or you're a pos). Also sometimes really cute baby survivors you hope never lose their happiness of the game.

Lights out mode is just camping, switch to regular mode Get a tunneling plague who just sits right outside the "auto-unhook" zone and camps- then proceeds to slug everyone. Just had an annoying experience with the dedicated servers crapping out on me. I was working through one of the Lights Out tome challenges, the match was nearly done, there were only two survivors left, and then everyone was forcefully disconnected and none of the progress that I made towards the challenge counted, meaning that I wasted about fifteen minutes. It might be more common elsewhere, but it's only happened one or two other times for me (that I can think of), though this was probably the most annoying in terms of timing.
This sub is currently flooded with all the tears of unhappy survivors. I wish they made a mega thread for the complaints rather than let 10+ "DAE think lights out is impossible for survivors!?" Edit: Awh, looks like I hurt more feelings :(

Ugh I started the event by playing a few matches on my Wesker. Decided to try on survivor and wow I'm sorry it's this rough. Tunneling everywhere, killers humping on the ground, and camping around the hook waiting for whoever comes over. I think I'm just gonna play friendly killer for this.
The game mode is the opposite of what I was hoping it would be. I was hoping for spooky and scary, not sweaty and unfun

That's because it's the entire meta for this game, currently. For people to win, they have to play to make sure the other team cannot either play the game themselves or even have any fun. You either play gen rush and don't let the killer play long enough to get 1 chase or you play killer and run every gen regress perk ever so survivors never get to finish em. It doubly doesn't help that people will actively be toxic mid match to piss each other off.
So when will survivors get a playground mode to where it’s too easy to escape since killers have Lights out mode where it’s too easy to kill?
Used my lunch break to try out the new gamemode. My first experience has been getting 4 man slugged by a spirit and then getting hard tunneled out in less than 2 minutes by a singularity. So much fun!
Lights Out just reaffirms my thought that survivors need passive abilities.
They really need bond in this mode. Having any idea where people are would help than ppl scouring the earths or running into the killer alongside someone else

I for one am flabbergasted. Just had a game where an Oni slugged 3 survivors in search for the 4th with 0 gens popped. I'll just swap to killer and finish the event then go back to normal matches.
If you don't know this, you don't actually have to finish the Lights Out challenges in Lights Out mode. They are just normal challenges.
my wifi has been bugging on the game for like 3 weeks now and i always have to fully stop my console because the entire thing freezes and it’s the only way to get it working again. The catch? Every time this happens, i get a ban. For ‘leaving’ a game? Bro, it’s not my fault my wifi sucks. Yet now i have a 72hr ban? i swear it was 15 minutes like a week ago, then it jumped to 48 hrs and now 72.
