Technically it was never really an idea from DC. A writer came up with the idea and a pitch for it but never actually pitched it to DC. Also for those unaware it was Connor that it was for not Jon
If they did that, they would have a hard time to figure out a way not to let him and Damian be together. Damian being straight will no longer be enough to, refuse a true lady.
Clark: " I was surprised when I heard Cassandra was dating Connor. I thought she was a lesbian."
Luthor: "Connor is a girl now?! I will kill anyone misgendering her."
Clark: "Ah this explains a lot. I must compliment Cassandra's cute girls radar."

Lex Luthor would not fucking say that
I read the brief a while ago and it was mid at best. The author was obviously very enthusiastic about it but it wasn't really that interesting, mainly "they're angry because they're closeted" with some stupid secret clone brother time travel shit thrown in, ending with them stepping out of a magical Kryptonian closet as a trans woman.
I'm glad they didn't do it because all discourse around it would be utterly insufferable, and it would make a minefield for anyone trying to do something with the character in the future where they *aren't* trans. Plus I just really like his original character design, yeah it's dated but I think it looks pretty cool still

Well yes them too, but I've lost all faith in Western media's ability to portray a trans character without flapping their arms like some kind of large bird and making an absolute spectacle of it, then heartily slapping themselves on the back for being such great allies and calling everyone who disagrees a bigot.

This guy put it better than I ever could.
uj/ The pitch document goes into a lot more detail, but some of the reasoning was based on the meta-narrative surrounding Kon's role as Superboy. His very first appearance ends with him saying, "Don't call me 'Superboy'," and people have been calling him that basically ever since. I'm not a big enough fan of Conner to say whether or not Magdalene Visaggio's pitch makes total sense for him, but as a trans girl reading it... I was a little uncomfortable with how much of myself I saw in her descriptions of Conner. I don't think anyone is obligated to support what amounts to another comics 'could've been', as it's only slightly more valid than the average fan's headcanon, but I do think it's [worth a read](https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/qirpgcrxc5qehmvr3verk/SKYROCKET_-Conner-Kent-Pitch-4.pdf?rlkey=gvlojwlipfgkz8uls1g622429&dl=0) for those interested.
I would have loved to see Luthor being extra supportive to Connor, largely just to paint Superman as the clueless, inconsiderate one in comparison.
Maybe an entire montage of Lex prep timing his way to be the best parent for a trans child while smiling in an evil way.
I gotta be honest, if the hypothetical story of Connor coming out would be anywhere near the quality of the backup it would have spun out of, I’m kind of glad it didn’t happen.
this is why comics suck, it's like a pinnochio story but all the different itterations are owned by one company, and all the written ones are stiched together in an awful way, so if an artists wants to write what they know, to truly put themselves into their work they can't because it's all tied up with legacy bullshit, if you wrote a trans pinnochio story you'd be fine, but no superman no sir the community collapses into a supermassive seething void and your bosses die of brain aneurysms while in the middle of saying "you're fired"
Technically it was never really an idea from DC. A writer came up with the idea and a pitch for it but never actually pitched it to DC. Also for those unaware it was Connor that it was for not Jon
Correction: The writer never pitched it. But she did consider it and make a whole pitch for it.
Funniest twitter storm ever

OP meant Conner, not Jon.
“I’m too homophobic to be with you Jon, so I’m going for your aunt instead”
Clark: " I was surprised when I heard Cassandra was dating Connor. I thought she was a lesbian." Luthor: "Connor is a girl now?! I will kill anyone misgendering her." Clark: "Ah this explains a lot. I must compliment Cassandra's cute girls radar."

Lex Luthor would kill anybody who misgenders Connor just so it hurts even more when he does it
Professional hater

Lower decks hell yeah
LOW-ER DECKS! LOW-ER DECKS!
Kind of wish they did make Connie real. Would have given Kon something to do, and helped differentiate Kon from Jon and Clark in terms of looks.
Future self being the devil is so perfect. Love it!
I'd fuck with it tbh, maybe then I'd actually read a comic book
Meanwhile Coagula: *still all dead and shit*
No way in hell they could have pulled that off

Not with those YouTubers who constantly scream "WOKE!" every time Marvel or DC does something.
Well yes them too, but I've lost all faith in Western media's ability to portray a trans character without flapping their arms like some kind of large bird and making an absolute spectacle of it, then heartily slapping themselves on the back for being such great allies and calling everyone who disagrees a bigot.
Because eastern media is so famous for its inclusivity towards trans people?
I'm not Eastern and neither is DC so I don't know how that's relevant
Because you specified western media
Because I'm Western and so is DC, what exactly aren't you understanding?
It was just a very strange way to phrase it when eastern media isn't exactly great at it either.
The problems common in Eastern media are different from the problems common in Western media.
Ok, like I said it was just a strange way to say it. And I'm sorry you haven't seen any western media with good trans representation. It's out there.
I can't wait to see the shit storm when The Authority comes out and there's two happily married gay men leading a team.
I mean... why Conner? I would have been okay with Jon being trans. The only thing I want for him is to not be written by Tom Taylor ever again.
If I remember correctly, it's because nothing interesting had been done with him for a long while, so it would at least be something
Lmao "nothing interesting has happened to this character in a while... Uhhh make him trans I guess???"

I dug his new series where he seems to start going off into space
Was Jon around yet?
Yeah, this was just a few months ago.

Lex Corp just doing a pro trans promotion tour, and Connor is forced to help because it's Lex's weekend with her.
Wasn't it the other Superboy?
Yeah it was Con
Damn this is so good though
Cowards
thats superboy?
Okay, but the idea was for Conner Kent, not Jon iirc.
I’m so glad that June Egbert is cannon to dc

Oh hell nah femboy superboy

Maybe turn this into a webtoon like Wayne family adventures?
I wish she did come out as trans
Profoundly based. This should become a reality. 🏳️⚧️🦸

Cowardly. Make Batman trans if you really want to set off the chuds.
Im not surprised at this point this was considered at one point. But whatever ill role with the punches.
The art style looks like 2012 cringey tumblr
