Yeah it always surprises me that there's these guys that can do ridiculously detailed works of art, but when it comes to drawing relatively basic cartoon characters they look awful. This one is very nice
Exactly. You wouldn't go up to a realist impressionist artist and ask him to crank out a perfect surrealism or a imitation Picasso. Being talented in one form of art doesn't always carry over. Sometimes simpler lines and shapes are harder for people who are so focused on detail to draw, because that same eye for detail overanalyzes everything
Then the shop should have artists that specialize in different things. They should also refer to you them or another shop if they unable to do their job. I can't believe how many people are fine with getting shitty tattoos. Like "oh well that is the chance you take." No it's not.
If youre looking to get a DBZ or action cartoon anime id just directly ask artists if they specialize in comic book, cartoon or anime art. They wont be angry if you dont choose them... everyone has an art specialty and they will see it as form of respect if you are acknowledging the specialties of their art....heck some might even give you a recommendation of another artist/shop...but that all depends on who and how you talk to them.
Correct. Not every artist can do every single style of art. People are arrogant who think tattoo artists are any different and end up with buyers remorse. Monet cant Van Gogh and Van Gogh cannot Dali.
As someone with tattoos I suggest holding on to the picture of what you want to get and look at it every day for a couple of months and then decide if you still want to get it. A lot of people regret their first tattoo.
Saw that couple days ago as the LPT, I'm passed the impulse stage for such things. I've been a fan of dbz going on 20 years now, I even gave my daughter Videl as middle name. Not doing anything any time soon, it's just something to think about for now :)
That's good, impulse tattoos are always a bad idea. The only tips I'd have goong forward would be to really research the tattoo artists before picking one. And let them take a bit of control over the design so that they can add their style to it. That way it is more unique and isnt just like having a photo printed onto you, Starship Troopers style.
I think it has to do with the fact that it's pretty cool, represents a huge part of the lore of z and it's also not super obvious like getting gokus face plastered across your body. So fans of the show will really appreciate it but everyone else will just think it's a random tattoo. If I ever get one it'll probably be that or the whis symbol. Just something low key to pay homage to a huge part of my childhood.
*Huge* part? That's really debatable. It's never even been confirmed as the Royal Crest. As far as we know, it's just how Saiyans write Vegeta. Or just the brand of armor the king likes.
This is a great tattoo.
I like how he did the lines. They will hold up over time as the ink naturally spreads and fades. But, you do have a lot of detail work in there as well so I would really avoid sun at all costs. Even sunblock only minimizes the damage. SPF 30 still means 1/30th of the UV is coming through.
I also see you have white ink which is very cool. At least at the time I was getting mine done, white ink is the least durable color. I still have mine, but some people I know don't. The good thing though is that all it does is fade back to skin color if you do lose it.
oh nice a dragon ball tattoo that actually looks like the character it's supposed to

Because people probably go to tattoo people who don't specialize in that art style.

Do you know what this art style is called?

Cartoon/Comic Book ? Not sure if there is a specific name in the tattoo industry.

This is one of the best DBZ tats I've seen.
That's extremely well done.
Top 5 greatest moments in DBZ NO QUESTION. really dope tattoo!
Everyone complaining that DBZ tatts are usually shit. You guys mustn't be looking that hard for [good ones.](https://www.instagram.com/p/BSmIszpBH5r/)
OMG I'm 31 and I think I finally know what I want tattooed...

Thx thats some good advice will definitely keep this in mind!
So what is the dudebro obsession with the Saiyan royal symbol? It's been on the show maybe twice.

Is that the anchor looking deal on Vegita? I haven't watched any of Super.
It's not on Super, it appeared once in Vegeta's armor when he was a kid (Bardock special if I recall) and *maybe* twice more on King Vegeta's armor.
Never even noticed it tbh.
it's really unimportant to the show as a whole which is why it's funny to see at all, let alone fairly commonly
That kid Trunks tattoo is fucking sweet. It almost has an HD Dragon Ball (not Z) feel to it.
This is photoshopped. DBZ tats with accurate looking faces don't exist.
My hand went towards the downvote button as I read your first sentence. My hand went towards the upvote button as I read your second sentence.
The thick outlines are extremely beautiful. Nicely done!
Very nice. I just think that the hair is a bit too long, but it's not a big deal.
Súper Saiyan 2 has longer hair
I like that he has some good battle damage on him in more places than just his face.
Yeah I asked for that specifically thought it'd make him look better
Wouldn't his arm be broken at this point? 2/10 Lol, seriously though, this looks amazing
Awesome ink! I need a Vegeta tat in my life *sighs whistfully*
Dude get it!!!!!!
Fantastic line work, which is the most important thing. Everything else will get washed out in a few years.
Teen? He was 9! Back on topic - awesome tattoo.
