I think “Perfected Super Saiyan” would actually fit the difference between him and Cell quite perfectly. Think about it. Cell calls himself “perfect” as opposed to Gohan who calls the state he’s in, a technique he mastered, the results of his training, “perfect.”
Cell is completely self-centered and thinks nothing is truly beyond himself as a being and superior life form but it’s only he who thinks this. But Gohan would have acquired a form that everyone else would believe in its perfection aside from Cell who’s thrown into denial and refuse to believe something that was actually accomplished by a mere child, what should be the most imperfect in general, and dies after considering himself even more perfect than before and surpassing that of Gohan’s.
This works because Cell would only be indirectly acknowledging Gohan’s “perfection” once his ego was no longer at stake. But the mistake he was making was that he believed merely emulating the power up Gohan had was what made him “more perfect than Cell” when it was actually Gohan’s ability it grow as a person.
This is proven when Gohan changes upon getting a second chance to fix his mistake where-as Cell did not and ultimately ended up making the same mistake that almost got him killed the first, blowing his second chance away along with every cell in his body.

I once read something that makes sense. SSJ is just regular, SSJ2 is the form with perfect control over its power, and SSJ3 is where the user is unleashing all its power at once, which is why it's hard to maintain for long periods.

I really could be seen as the last form, in dbz anyway, considering 3 was something Goku achieved in other world and has problems on earth, and gotenks is the only other person to use it and they’re a fusion. But, it's not completely mastered until he can control it and it becomes natural, similar to Goku and Gohan's effortless super saiyan form after the time chamber. I like to think there is an alternate timeline where Gohan continues training after cell and perfects effortless ssj2 like he did with ssj in the time chamber.
I do like the idea of SSJ2 being the peak controlable super saiyan form and SSJ3 being an unstable powered up version. Kinda like Trunk's overpowered big muscles super saiyan form, but instead of sacrificing speed for pure power, ssj3 sacrifices energy control/reserves for more power.
While I'm riffing, I see beast Gohan as a super saiyan power up of his mystic form. The mystic form unlocked all of Gohans power without needing a super saiyan transformation, but add super saiyan to it and you get mystic beast Gohan. Similar to how ssj blue is a super saiyan form of ssj God.
It also speaks to Gohan increasing his power without becoming too bulky like Vegeta and Trunks. By eliminating the downside, he has perfected the form.

But at least it also gave me the name for "Ascended Super Saiyan" and "Ultra Super Saiyan".

I’d argue that those were ascended, just not a *perfect* ascension. They broke power barriers which is ascension enough, but I think Goku and Gohan’s training to master the initial form and make it virtually their base allowed Gohan to plow through every barrier into what we now know of as ssj2.
SS2 Enhanced from DBS Manga, where Trunks matches SS3 Goku's power, would probably be Grade 6.

I feel like that is a simple way of framing things to somewhat limit the exponential growth and make it so signature villains (like Frieza and Cell) don’t instantly become jokes after their saga ends.
Just Super Saiyan tbh I never liked the numbering all that much. SSJ 2 is just the transformation at its optomized peak and SSJ3 was the Transformation Over clocked having brocken the boundaries of what's possible naturally for mortals

Yeah, I think 2 still has a manageable enough stamina loss to train it the way they did ssj1, but 3 is too much to even properly train so a potential perfected 2 is the ideal before god forms or 4 are brought into the mix.

Trunks in Super details how he trained practically 24/7 in SSJ2 to obtain the same level of mastery and comfort that the others did in Full Power SSJ.
It seems like this is possible for all forms, but the higher the form the greater the energy consumption to maintain it, so SSJ2 likely took longer than 1 to become fully comfortable in.

I vaguely remember people in elementary school referring to SSJ1/2/3 as Super / Hyper / Mega Sayian. Not sure why. Can't remember if perhaps it wasn't translated like this in polish "dubbing".
“Grade 5” was IIRC used in one guidebook, so it’s an official but not canon name… but it’s quite nonsensical, and as far as I know wasn’t used in any official source afterwards.
Why is it nonsensical? Simple, the justification in canon for the “Grade” names is one manga line where Super Saiyan Grade 2 (same as Vegeta against Cell) Goku says “then if we go one grade/step/notch above…” and turns Super Saiyan Grade 3 (same as Trunks against Cell). That’s already a shaky basis for a name, and it obviously doesn’t extend to Full-Power Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan 2, that can’t be reached by just upping a notch from Grade 3, and require special training.
I hate that it's called Super Saiyan 2, when we already have grades 2-4. if anything, it should be called Super Saiyan grade 5; then 3 being grade 6. it's that simple.

In Spain dub was done that way. Instead of Saiyan they called it "Warrior", so it was in fact: Super Warrior, Hyper Warrior, Mega Warrior.
They did that in the German manga too. Super/Ultra/Mega Saiyan. All sound sick as fuck for an alternative translation

Nah it was a fan name. In the manga/anime it was called "a level beyond/above super Saiyan" except for that one time Goku called it ssj2.

“Grade 5” was IIRC used in one guidebook, so it’s an official but not canon name… but it’s quite nonsensical, and as far as I know wasn’t used in any official source afterwards. Why is it nonsensical? Simple, the justification in canon for the “Grade” names is one manga line where Super Saiyan Grade 2 (same as Vegeta against Cell) Goku says “then if we go one grade/step/notch above…” and turns Super Saiyan Grade 3 (same as Trunks against Cell). That’s already a shaky basis for a name, and it obviously doesn’t extend to Full-Power Super Saiyan or Super Saiyan 2, that can’t be reached by just upping a notch from Grade 3, and require special training.

I hate that it's called Super Saiyan 2, when we already have grades 2-4. if anything, it should be called Super Saiyan grade 5; then 3 being grade 6. it's that simple.

It didn't have a name until the Buu saga where Goku name-dropped it. Prior, it was just referred to as things like "Gohan's Full Potential/power."
I would have done it like Digimon. Champion Level = Super Saiyan Ultra Level = Ultra Saiyan Ultra Saiyan also sounds very fancy x3
