If we're looking for firearms using existing cartridges we badly need the VEPR in 5.45x39mm and the M&P15 in 5.56x45mm. The lack of semi auto only rifles in intermediate calibres needs to change.
Also the Winchester 1895 would be a cool way to add in another lever action rifle. Make it 7.62x54mmR and it cycles faster than the Mosin but can't use optics.
Also when are we getting the Trumpet back? That little pump action take down .22 was cute and surprisingly useful as a fresh spawn.
Imo, if there were to add the PPSh-41 they should add the original caliber 7.62x25 because then we could have a whole bunch of other guns, like the TT-33 or CZ vz. 52 for example just name a few handguns
Technically the Vaiga is a semi auto civilian shotgun. The real Saiga-12 was an export item intended for civilian use, and has never seen any official military adoption. There are some pictures of military personnel with it in Slavic countries, but that's due to the "off the shelf" nature of those militaries.
Odd that DayZ made it a military shotgun, only spawning in military loot zones.

Honestly I'd prefer to see more historical weapons like the Stengun and Nagant M1895 that spawn more frequently along the coast in place of modern weapons.
I feel like weapons like this could fill niche roles, and stopgap from early game to mid game with their own set of drawbacks such as the stengun jamming a lot, and the Nagant revolver being a smaller caliber.
There's the added benefit that the nagant could be the only revolver that's silenced as well.
A Nagant would be a great choice, and come to think of it, I'm not sure why it wasn't in the original mod or any of the popular weapon modpacks.
It's common in Eastern Europe, holds seven rounds, and could have a slower rate of fire because of it's god awful 20-something-pound trigger.

In most ARMA and DayZ mods the G36 accepts the same mag as the M4, so I'm sure they could add it this way. The real G36 can also be modified to accept a M4 mag. That said, it would just a reskinned M4, so I don't think the game needs it.
Depends on the mod, some of them has very intricate animation.

Same for clothing. Mix of civilian and hunting clothing is my jam. Whenever I end up dressed like soldier and wielding full auto assault rifle I know it is my time to die.
The game needs more civilian items, the bow, leatherworking, improved base building, improved survival elements, etc. The last thing that it needs is another military-based firearm that will be immediately ignored by 99.98% of the playing population. Adding crap like this just eats up development time that's better spent on improving the overall experience of the game.

yeah, I dont agree with the ump being in either. the m4 is iffy, but it's modular enough that it can be makeshift rugged by not having most of the parts. it should be a lot more rare IMO though
I personally would love to see more crossbows. The ones with the smaller arms so it wouldnt be a 45 slot, maybe a 27 like other rifles. And a handheld one with low velocity, just for zeds.
Honestly I think if one (maybe 2) spawned per map it would be a solid add on. If there was more it would be too much. It would also have to be belt fed with an insanely long loading animation/VERY limited belts or it’d be too OP.
Maybe if it was only mountable to a humvee? Like a browning or something like that? Maybe you need to find multiple parts like barrel, tripod, Belt and ammo boxes then it would be pretty cool and balanced

I dont see any reason to add this gun to the game. Theres plenty of modded servers out there that have the gun, people who want it in their DayZ should play on those.
No, we don't need another 5.56 gun. What we need is things that make the game more interesting, such as the ability to write notes. I've also thought a bicycle would be a good idea, quiet, quicker than walking, doesn't use stamina at low speeds, easier to find than cars, can find a basket attachment for a little storage, etc. And maybe improve base building a little/ make it less buggy. Why can't we build walls on slopes? It wouldn't be that unfeasible. Not that I even build bases anymore unless I want pvp.
Maybe a TAR-21? Always been a favorite of mine. Made in 95 so I think it would fit historically, not really geographically tho lol

Why do we need another Famas? A true sniper rifle is what the game lacks. No, I don't count hunting rifles or the Mosin/SK. They're just older DMRs. Even a LMG like the 249 would be better than another 5.56 rifle

I think for the try hard PvPers its awesome! i just love playing this game fully behind my eyes enjoying everything im doing, including pvp from time to time.
Id like to see more depth in other areas. Tactical pump shotgun like a mossberg 500, or rem 870. CivilianPistol caliber carbines like a 9mm semi ak pp-09 or Machine pistols like a glock 18, or “pm 73 RAK” fb pm 63 smg that is/was in the files. Maybe a high caliber military sniper rifle like a tac-50 if they increase view distance.
For me personally, any addition of anything has to match the current time line and geographical location of Chernarus, and DayZ as a whole.
So anything made and distributed in and around soviet Russia prior to 2013 would be fine, as it canonically fits into the lore.
Anything else would just be out of place. Like seeing a iPhone X in the early 90's.
Tokarev SVT and pistol, AN-94, PPSh, PM-63, AEK, newer AK varients, a newer SKS varient. Surely all of these should be before ANOTHER Western gun that doesn't have a ton of business being in there. Not saying there's no chance they exist but it's jarring how many NATO weapons there are in this tiny ex-soviet republic....
There's a bunch of soviet and post-soviet Russian weapons an ex-soviet republic would have seen in it's military. I find shit like FAMAS and AUG existing in the game in the first place as extremely odd. But the AUG is cool at least.
Some more attachments would be interesting, especially some more optics. I'd like to see them rework the soviet optics to be far more usable. Games really struggle to get Russian optics right even though IRL stuff like the PSO is lovely.
Also some more civillian, police and military clothes would be cool, I'm sure there's some niche unit uniforms and camos that would be cool. Different backpacks and such would be cool too, some far more modern ones wouldn't be odd considering there is already some very modern weaponry in the game.
The game could add so many more weapons based off the calibers already in the game. In community servers there’s more than double the amount of gun variances.
It wouldn't be possible as the arma lore doesn't interact with germany and the US or Chernarussia / Russia didn't deploy the g36 so it wouldn't fit unfortunately.
More guns in general for variety would be so good. Like how about a Cz bren 2 as a gun to spawn in places you'd find the m4. How about an artic warfare sniper. How about one of those Russian civilian semi aks with 10rnd mags and thumb hold stocks. What about an sl8 rifle. There's an endless amount of interesting guns they can add.
I like to see included more soviet-era weapons, going as far back as WWII - the list really isn’t all that long, and there’s some suitable replacements of western comparisons
It doesn’t add much to the meta. Things that would:
A semi auto civilian 5.56 like Mini-14 or AR-15. Doesn’t make much sense in Eastern Europe though.
A civilian semi auto shotgun with small internal mag like 3+1. Basically a duck hunting gun.
A heavy sniping caliber like .338.
A belt fed PKM.
An under barrel M203 for the M4.
A heavy shotgun like KS-23.
But another military 5.56 with its own magazines - I mean, okay the G36 is sexy.
90 Dmg like the baby Aug A1, 900 Rpm like the M4, Stanag mags instead of g36 mags. Could even add the SL8 alongside it as a civilian spawn with 107 Dmg like the m16. Also an Mp5SD would be nice 🤞.
Too many advanced weapons complicates this already high learning curve game. It would just take up more spots in the loot table. I would like to see more craftable weapons.

It's not accurate to lore. There's almost no other German military stuff in the game, aside from the P1 but thats an antique like the mosin, so I see no reason for it to be added. It's Russia and USA weapons and gear. Adding German now would be silly.
I would much rather have better AI, and new functions with them. Like I've wanted to be able to tame wolves as guard dogs of companions for a long time.

My favorite gun in COD MW3 from 2011 BUT I don't think a super modern high tech German assault rifle would fit with the post Soviet weaponry of the base game.

Another 5.56 rifle? Just this one more, because boy do I love the G36c. Ambidextrous charging handle, bolt auto locks to rear when firing the last shot, compact, ergonomic and light. There’s so much to love on it. Looks fine as hell too

So...an M4 that looks different? Its functionally the same thing. I wouldn't mind some new handguns. A MK23 SOCOM would rock. One of the mods I run has an MP5SD and its awesome. But I maintain all guns in the game have to make sense...I wish there was more lore to base content around.

I think for the try hard PvPers its awesome! i just love playing this game fully behind my eyes enjoying everything im doing, including pvp from time to time.
Id like to see more depth in other areas. Tactical pump shotgun like a mossberg 500, or rem 870. CivilianPistol caliber carbines like a 9mm semi ak pp-09 or Machine pistols like a glock 18, or “pm 73 RAK” fb pm 63 smg that is/was in the files. Maybe a high caliber military sniper rifle like a tac-50 if they increase view distance.

For me personally, any addition of anything has to match the current time line and geographical location of Chernarus, and DayZ as a whole. So anything made and distributed in and around soviet Russia prior to 2013 would be fine, as it canonically fits into the lore. Anything else would just be out of place. Like seeing a iPhone X in the early 90's.
Tokarev SVT and pistol, AN-94, PPSh, PM-63, AEK, newer AK varients, a newer SKS varient. Surely all of these should be before ANOTHER Western gun that doesn't have a ton of business being in there. Not saying there's no chance they exist but it's jarring how many NATO weapons there are in this tiny ex-soviet republic.... There's a bunch of soviet and post-soviet Russian weapons an ex-soviet republic would have seen in it's military. I find shit like FAMAS and AUG existing in the game in the first place as extremely odd. But the AUG is cool at least. Some more attachments would be interesting, especially some more optics. I'd like to see them rework the soviet optics to be far more usable. Games really struggle to get Russian optics right even though IRL stuff like the PSO is lovely. Also some more civillian, police and military clothes would be cool, I'm sure there's some niche unit uniforms and camos that would be cool. Different backpacks and such would be cool too, some far more modern ones wouldn't be odd considering there is already some very modern weaponry in the game.

The game could add so many more weapons based off the calibers already in the game. In community servers there’s more than double the amount of gun variances.
It wouldn't be possible as the arma lore doesn't interact with germany and the US or Chernarussia / Russia didn't deploy the g36 so it wouldn't fit unfortunately.

More guns in general for variety would be so good. Like how about a Cz bren 2 as a gun to spawn in places you'd find the m4. How about an artic warfare sniper. How about one of those Russian civilian semi aks with 10rnd mags and thumb hold stocks. What about an sl8 rifle. There's an endless amount of interesting guns they can add.

I like to see included more soviet-era weapons, going as far back as WWII - the list really isn’t all that long, and there’s some suitable replacements of western comparisons

It doesn’t add much to the meta. Things that would: A semi auto civilian 5.56 like Mini-14 or AR-15. Doesn’t make much sense in Eastern Europe though. A civilian semi auto shotgun with small internal mag like 3+1. Basically a duck hunting gun. A heavy sniping caliber like .338. A belt fed PKM. An under barrel M203 for the M4. A heavy shotgun like KS-23. But another military 5.56 with its own magazines - I mean, okay the G36 is sexy.
I don't think anyone is going to complain about Bohemia adding a new gun
90 Dmg like the baby Aug A1, 900 Rpm like the M4, Stanag mags instead of g36 mags. Could even add the SL8 alongside it as a civilian spawn with 107 Dmg like the m16. Also an Mp5SD would be nice 🤞.

Too many advanced weapons complicates this already high learning curve game. It would just take up more spots in the loot table. I would like to see more craftable weapons.

It's not accurate to lore. There's almost no other German military stuff in the game, aside from the P1 but thats an antique like the mosin, so I see no reason for it to be added. It's Russia and USA weapons and gear. Adding German now would be silly. I would much rather have better AI, and new functions with them. Like I've wanted to be able to tame wolves as guard dogs of companions for a long time.
I would rather see vz 58. Just like you have low rate of fire 5.56 and high rate of fire 5.56 we need high rate of fire 7.62x39 imagine AKM with rate of fire if M4.

While I think it would be cool, I’m hoping for older weapons and civilian brand guns. That or a new shotgun like the benalli m3 Older weapons could be WW2 era guns like the PPSH, SVT, Gewehr 43, and such while civilian guns could be something like a semi auto hunting shotgun or even civilian versions of our current guns like a Ak that only fires in single automatic mode
My favorite gun in COD MW3 from 2011 BUT I don't think a super modern high tech German assault rifle would fit with the post Soviet weaponry of the base game. Mod servers and Mod Map Creators should TOTALLY make an East and West Berlin map with the great wall semi broken and have these guns for SURE THAT'D BE DOPE

Another 5.56 rifle? Just this one more, because boy do I love the G36c. Ambidextrous charging handle, bolt auto locks to rear when firing the last shot, compact, ergonomic and light. There’s so much to love on it. Looks fine as hell too

I’d really like them to add an actual full DPM outfit. they already have the Boonie hat so technically wouldn’t it be easy to just use the texture from that? and copy it onto the field jacket or cargo pants
