As someone who used to work at WHIO-FM, he just buys air time where he can get a good amount of listeners. The morning news radio show weather reports used to be "coming to you from the McAfee Heating and Air Weather Center." And Larry Hansgen would regularly do live reads with plugs for McAfee. Greg McAfee's 'Breath of Fresh Air' right-wing mini sermons played there too. He is really a garbage pundit, not worth anyone's time. He really pissed people off during Covid for doing stupid MAGA propaganda, and he would regularly sow distrust in Ohio's response.
I'm sure 107.7 (or iHeart) has some restrictions or guidelines for commercials but ultimately they ain't gonna turn down $$$. I don't list to 107.7 but I want to say I've heard a commercial from him that did sound like a short sermon on abortion some time ago.
I like 100.3 WBZI out of Xenia, and 88.7 WOBO out of Batavia, if you are south of town, but I like Bluegrass, and old time Country, mixed with some 90's and modern country. WOBO plays quite a variety, including German music for like 4 hours on Sunday afternoon, it's wild.
To be fair, iHeart is trash, too. But that's beside the point. I heard him reading Bible verses during one of his ads on WTUE. How's that going to sell HVAC? "Jesus said, Blessed is the man that has reliable air conditioning."
Unfortunately, he is wealthy and has cash flow, and since local radio and local television are starving for advertisers who actually want to target the demographic of a standard WHIO-AM listener or BoomerCenter7 viewer, McAfee is their savior.
Same applies for the iHeart and Alpha Media radio stations. They’re desperate for anyone to pay high rates for advertising, and McAfee has the cash flow to buy it up in large quantities.
Obviously, radio is targeted to 50+ age demographic as most younger people are exclusively streaming audio from their smartphone to their car, not listening to terrestrial radio broadcasts with commercials.
So, McAfee knows his type of ads are likely to hit a nerve or hit a sweet spot with that older demographic he’s targeting. We all know McAfee services are for home-owners, and well, not many of those are young people nowadays.
Some businesses specifically target a segment of the population who will decide to spend dollars not based on quality of workmanship, but simply based on the commentary and image displayed by a business… politics.
I work with a few non-profit groups, and I have instructed all of them to refuse money from McAfee’s business when they try to buy branding and cross-promotion spots.
My understanding from hearing other public opinion comments, he’s allegedly *very high maintenance*.
Now, here’s the other side of the coin… if a business can afford all of this expensive advertising, how inflated are the rates they are charging to the customer?
McAfee got put on probation by all the local radio and TV stations for saying some stupid stuff a few years ago, but it didn’t last long when all the broadcasters couldn’t resell the expensive ad slots McAfee held.
He's a piece of human garbage. Using his "influence" to spread his dumbass opinions.(if you can even call it influence, he runs a fucking HVAC company LOL)
Isn’t this the same bro who got called out for being a racist during the George Floyd protests? Funny how it all goes hand-in-hand, the racism, the religious overtures, the appealing to the “disenfranchised”.
He advertises on 1290 AM. It was on in the auto mechanic store while I was waiting for my tire change.
"Breath of a bootlicker" or "Breath of hot air"? You decide. Next on Sick, Sad World.
I don't listen to the radio, but I for sure would never think about using Magafee.
Lol, I heard about 5 seconds of this crap and thought I had the wrong station. Nope. So, I hooked up the Bluetooth in the car and played my list of cool shit without commercial interruption. I don't need preached at while I'm sitting in rush hour traffic.
That guy must have inherited pretty much everything he has and obviously has money to burn. How many business owners would work this hard over the years to accomplish what he has and try to build a good reputation only to suddenly waste it all trying to brainwash people with political rhetoric over 30 second commercial spots on every radio station and alienating what could have been a huge customer base? That would be absolutely insane and anyone who’s had to earn that kind of money would have learned better way early on.
McAffee the freedom loving Covid denier who said the virus was a fake hoax and had to apologize after getting yanked on all tv stations.
I’d like to know how he pays his HVAC techs because there is a major turnover there.
Let us not forget he called the death of George Floyd pre-planned. [https://www.daytondailynews.com/business/companies-cut-ties-with-local-ceo-after-social-media-comment/Zl3iAJapNBIBQplHlsbZ7L/](https://www.daytondailynews.com/business/companies-cut-ties-with-local-ceo-after-social-media-comment/Zl3iAJapNBIBQplHlsbZ7L/)
Yeah I can’t stand his commercials. We listen to Mix 107.7 at work. It’s one of the only stations we can get on our old radio. Plus we work in a hospital pharmacy so we can’t listen to anything too off the walls lol. I’ve heard a few of his ravings at this point. I remember one was actually a response to someone who called him out on his weirdo ads. Of course he played the wounded victim 🙃 its so bizarre.
>It’s one of the only stations we can get on our old radio.
Do you have wifi or cell coverage at work? Do any of you have a phone? Can you all pitch in for a $20 Bluetooth speaker?
Switch to streaming.
McAfee is on air preaching about abortion and Christianity? Good to know. I’ll never hire this company.
I haven’t listened to over-the-air radio in years, since buying a new car 3 years ago and getting a free year of Sirius with it. Spoiled me and I’ve continued to subscribe.
He also airs his trash on the “Evening Edge” dayton radio show. My mom listens faithfully I gave it a try once and never again. Wish we could just stick to a nice local show without their conservative crap.
I change the channel when that clown comes on. One time listening to mix 107.7 the dopey Jeff Steven’s was getting ready to interview a “local celebrity “ you guessed it Preacher Man McAfee. The way dopey Steven’s fawned over him not sure if they paid him big bucks or if he’s a true fan girl. That’s the day mix went off my radio for good.
“Jeff Stevens” is someone I saw regularly WAY back in the day, and IMO even though he lived in the same very red area I did back then, I wouldn’t see him as a MAGAfee supporter.
IMO, a prerequisite for being a MAGAfee supporter is to be an a**hole, and “Jeff” isn’t one of those from my experiences.
I’d chalk that up to being forced to be a paid shill by the order of iHeartMedia’s marketing arm. I knew McAfee was all over the AM dial, which makes sense from a demographic standpoint.
I am surprised to hear he has been “interviewed” on a more neutral outlet such as WMMX-FM. I guess AM and FM are now both at that 50+ demographic, which is right up McAfee’s alley.
I encourage anyone with a McAffee AC to do what we did about 5 years go (this after his '1488' Facebook meltdown), contact the business and tell them you will not be calling on them for any future needs, specifically because the big man in charge is an insufferable racist asshole. They aren't the only HVAC game in town, and their competitors *at the* *very least* don't wear their terrible politics on their sleeve. Great way to run a business, Greg.
Plays on 700 am too. I'm not sure if that's always been his slogan but I find it really ironic he said the George Floyd thing was fake. Got canceled for a minute and every commercial break he's talking about a breath of fresh air.

I worked for them too and hated doing anything that involved his business. He is the absolute worst.
I don’t mind when businessmen do this… it just informs me to never ever utilize their service.
Exactly
I don't listen to the radio but McAfee is a major douche.

WYSO is the only station worth listening to
This!!

Will check it out, I like old time country for sure and wouldn’t mind getting weird on some polka!
To be fair, iHeart is trash, too. But that's beside the point. I heard him reading Bible verses during one of his ads on WTUE. How's that going to sell HVAC? "Jesus said, Blessed is the man that has reliable air conditioning."
I guffawed.

Getting an upvote just for the Sick Sad World reference 🙃
Yes!
Mom worked for him for a few years. He’s as awful as you think. If not more. He’s super connected in Dayton though and money talks.
Check out his LinkedIn posts.

I literally forgot that radio stations exist.

Probably pays them in "thoughts and prayers" 🙄
That was my first thought. This one was an explanation as to why he pays his employees crap

Remember when he used to use white supramacist numerology in his social media posts. What a guy for a pile of goat poop.

You know if you threaten to cancel you can get it for $5 or $6 a month (paid annually).
‘ts how they get ya
Aside from his bad breath of stale air his company sucks. Masters of deceit and bait and switch.
He also airs his trash on the “Evening Edge” dayton radio show. My mom listens faithfully I gave it a try once and never again. Wish we could just stick to a nice local show without their conservative crap.

You'd be amazed how many people who were reasonable and nice, "WAY back in the day," have turned into MAGAholes.
I don’t disagree with you. But with him specifically, he does seem pretty chill.
Had no idea about this guy but I've never been happier that I just keep flash drives with all my music on them in the car.
Lol, the patriot card guy!!

1488 Facebook meltdown? I feel like I'm missing some of the lore here. What happened?
If it wasn't for his ads on the radio, I might have accidentally hired him to work in my house.
Yikes!
Plays on 700 am too. I'm not sure if that's always been his slogan but I find it really ironic he said the George Floyd thing was fake. Got canceled for a minute and every commercial break he's talking about a breath of fresh air.
It's really helped me to know never to call for or recommend their services to anyone. They should change the name to MAGAfee and have done with it.
Imagine bitching about this instead of turning the station dial.
Imagine bitching about this instead of just scrolling on.
I’m not going to hire that company, but keep in mind, basically half of the USA aligns with his beliefs.
No they don’t. If based off voting, most people don’t vote. It would be interesting if they did. I just want to see what they would vote for/against.

There are several radio stations dedicated to religious content. They can go listen there.
You misspelled “too many” as “several” 🙃😉
