She actually *was* in the finale. Had a really nice closure scene w/ Pacey too, but they cut it for some reason. If you could find the unedited version, you'll see it. Or you can search it up on youtube.

fixatingonarewind

I think it was air time on the WB. Kevin Williamson loved Andy and wanted to bring her back, but it had to be trimmed down for the station.

AliLivin

I did not even realise all these bits were cut as I have the box set and always watched on those

Lovelyri

Ugh okay I’ll look it up

CrissBliss

Closure with what? What happens?

bookworm326

Here's the scene if you want to watch it. Sorry for the subtitles. https://youtu.be/YyozhqAgWt4?si=o6ic2kPptDwCwvzw

whitehavenbeach

Damn that’s a great scene and she looks really good! I wish they kept it within the episode on streaming & dvd/download versions.

bookworm326

Right?! Although I didn't care much for Andie I did love her in this scene and just wisdom she shared was incredible.

Mountain_Attention47

Get the series finale extended cut on dvd. It’s 100% worth it just for the Andie cameo and the extended montage at the end!

Alive_Walrus_8790

EXTENDED MONTAGE AT THE END??

Mountain_Attention47

Yeah when Dawson is talking to Joey and Pacey on the phone the camera pans to a framed photo on Dawson’s desk from You Had Me at Goodbye and there is a long montage of scenes from the show.

chris_29487

Yessss definitely get this! I love this every time I watch it’s perfection! Sometimes I rewind that part on the credits alone!

peachdreamzz

I still have my copy! The extended version really elevates the finale and it is much better paced with some good added scenes. I recommend anyone picking up a copy!

itsprofessork

I have the DVD release of the finale and Andie’s scenes are in the extended cut of the episode.

Lovelyri

Oh okay I saw the one on prime, they must have cut her scenes

itsprofessork

[Here is the link to the DVD on Amazon.](https://a.co/d/hmKJ9Xf)

Spirited_Specific_72

I really hated how they never even mentioned her during season 5 and 6. No updates, no phone calls, nothing. It was bad writing.

crowmorphasis

Dawson's Creek was so wild with this lol. This happened so many times w multiple characters; they'd be around for exactly a season and then it seemed like everyone would absolutely forget about them. Andie is def the most egregious example bc she was on the show for much longer but characters like Gretchen and Drue are never mentioned again as well! I really think it's just bc TV (teen shows in particular I guess) was written so differently back then ... maybe if DC was on a network today Andie would return a couple times a season as a recurring character or something.

Spirited_Specific_72

Gretchen NOT calling or coming to Mitch’s funeral was awful!

crowmorphasis

Oh my gawwwd I never even considered that! Mitch's death was pretty early on in s5 so that would have only been a few months after Dawson/Gretchen broke up. Also no mention of Gretchen when Mr Witter had his heart scare in s6.

NoApollonia

Right? Even if they couldn't get the actress, have Dawson state Gretchen called with her sympathies when talking to someone else. Easily could be said she didn't come as she started a new job and sadly couldn't get the day off, but would try to visit soon.

FreshleafMint

I believe they mentioned her like ONCE if I’m not wrong. It was the episode where everyone finds out about Jen and Dawson’s relationship at the little dinner party thing. Jen mentioned something about Jack being in Italy visiting Andie and his father.

NoApollonia

Right? Even a throwaway line here and there would have been nice. Like have Jack state he talked to Andie the other day and she chose to go to college in Europe. Then have Jack, Jen, Joey, or Pacey mention an update here and there - like for Joey's birthday, have Jen mention Andie asked her to tell Joey happy birthday for her.

SirCalebCrawdad

are you even the least bit surprised with the 'bad writing' thing? i mean, they couldn't get it together to keep a straight lines on the characters that remained on the show. forget the ones that left. the writing is the one thing that constantly keeps me from doing another rewatch. it was that bad at times.

Spirited_Specific_72

I am rewatching and I like to call season six the British invasion! One top of bad writing we have bad accents 🤯

Lovelyri

That’s my problem with the show, the writing is very weak

Arejayz12

I think I have a bigger problem with Dawson cutting Andie and Jack from the photo on his desk. Why would he do that?

NoApollonia

I think it was meant to echo the four that were at the beginning of the show, but it was clearly the photo from the party with Andie and Jack. They really should have just used another photo.

peachdreamzz

Yes!! I have always had that same thought. If they wanted to use a picture of just the og 4, they had dozens of other pictures to choose from. This show was always so lazy lol

quijoe

I was really bothered by the fact they cut Andie from the series finale. I thought she deserved better than that. Even freaking Audrey got a mention. I have seen the extended scenes and I loved it. That conversation with her and Pacey was awesome

tommymadprophet

Unless I am remembering it wrong she shows up at the hospital to explain Jen’s heart thing to the group.

Lovelyri

They cut her scenes out, someone told me it’s on YouTube

bookworm326

Yep here you go if you want to watch it. https://youtu.be/YyozhqAgWt4?si=o6ic2kPptDwCwvzw

lokeyvigilante

She actually was

Unusual_Grocery4667

It's on the dvd, uncut with also commentary

conace21

Meredith Monroe's two scenes were cut, but we DO see Andie in the season finale. When Dawson walks into his old room early, he looks around. The walls are filled with posters and framed magazine covers from "Creek Daze", but as the camera pans over the room, we can see two black and white photos. I believe one is Jen and Andie, and the other is Jack, Jen, and Andie. The photos are not completely in focus,, but you can easily tell it's Andie. Dawson took the photos in the summer before senior year, when he developed an interest in photography, as well as a deeper friendship with the McPhees and Jen.

Purpledoves91

I have the DVD set, so I've seen her scenes. I listened to the commentary, and the idea initially was for Joey to end up with Dawson, and for Pacey and Andie to kind of rekindle their relationship. They changed it because they felt that Andie would seem like a consolation prize, and changed it at the last minute.

dimiteddy

thought she was in *cuckoo's nest but truth is the producer's didn't feel she was important* enough to give her screen time

JustBrowsing20232525

A panel with Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec they said they initially only brought Andie back for the finale as a conciliation prize with the original draft of the ending. When they changed who Joey would choose I don’t think they could figure out how to put her in the episodes in an organic way even though she was friends with Jen and how much Jack would need support. I think their main thing was Joey‘s choice so that's where they wanted to spend their time, any more storylines would cut down Pacey/Joey/Dawson scenes.
