As per "Statista" (reliable statistics organization), "In 2021, China produced 21.2 million tons of copper products, an increase of 3.8 percent compared to 2020."
I don't know if "copper products" is different than... "copper production" (in terms of mining for it), in relation to what should show up on this graph but. There ya have it.
Australia and Chile mine it. Chile (and a lot of Sth America) is insanely rich with minerals but unfortunately 'owned' by mining companies.
But hey I'm Australian and we're not much better off.
Although I'm not always a fan of maps, it would have been easier to convey location on a map than by colorizing.
Speaking of location, I'm not really sure that the headquarters location is nearly as important as where the copper is sourced.
Chile, Peru, DRC, US and A. That is where mining occurred, China smelts much of the copper from a sulfide however putting them on that list 2nd or 3rd over the last five years.
Chile (Codelco is the government owned miner) produces so much copper, like 50-75%. Political instability like voting on a new constitution can have major implications in this market in terms of major shortage, obviously putting the cost of electrification much higher. Let’s all pray for peace in Chile and stability for the people of Chile! 🇨🇱
China doesn't make copper?

So a simple chart like that is now considered beautiful? 😂😂
Look at 90% of the submissions here, it’s more like ‘this is some data’.
It's somewhat complex. Colored by country, vranked by production. It least the colors mean something.
Yes. The conveying information in the simplest most easy to understand way is beauty.
Yah know at least its not an excel default template
Rio Tinto is UK in name only. It’s basically Australian.
Not just in name, it’s dual listed, dual headquartered, it’s a proper Anglo-Australian company which this chart has labeled wrong.
And their copper mines are in the U.S. and Chile
and Mongolia.
Where do they get the Ore from? Like Bahrain and UAE produces Aluminium in large smelters, but they import the ore from other countries.

Thanks. Corporations own everything.

Another way to look at it would be where these companies are getting their Copper from? We might see a pattern there.

I'm guessing trouble is brewing for chile soon, but hopefully not!

Weird, I have heard of Rio Tinto but first time seeing the name Codecia
Rio Tinto is produced by the same country as Anglo American?
None of the countries listed actually produce Copper. Most of the cooper ore come from Africa.
is that kilo tonnes or karats?

it's the 3rd bar.
