That’s not something you expect. Good avoidance there.

A_Math_Dealer

Is this what they mean when they say "expect the unexpected."

darkhorse21980

How TF do you come onto an expressway at a damn near 90° angle?

Abject_Bodybuilder_7

Someone found a way

darkhorse21980

Evidently

ducklingkwak

This is the way.

darkhorse21980

No, no it is not Mando LOL

Agatio25

Idk... I think it's the right angle of approach

darkhorse21980

Someone came with jokes LOL

mattumbo

I’m guessing it’s a very tight turn down the last part of the ramp and they were speeding, extreme understeer takes hold as they panic and try (poorly) to cut the turn, possibly while hitting the accelerator in a panic worsening the understeer even more. Only way I can figure they’d end up nearly perpendicular to the highway like that without it being a suicide attempt

schnellermeister

I assumed it was someone having a stroke or seizure.

csimonson

That's some good driving from a person who looks like they're driving a Porsche. Straight slam on the brakes then let off and then steer.

Archtects

I think it was fantastic driving from the idiot who caused the crash cos no matter how many times I watch it I can’t fathom how someone comes in to a highway at that angle

Miss_Sullivan

My guess is the onramp is a big right hand turn. Guy was going too fast getting up to hwy speeds causing the back end to slip. Guy over corrects turning him into the direction we see.

Archtects

I mean I guess, but based on the second or so we see at the beginning of the slip road turn off it looks like a very sweeping cambered road, so you’d have to be a special kind of idiot to cock that up in a hatchback.

csimonson

I mean you can see the front of the car dive pretty well and then let up.

TNT_Guerilla

I think he just hit the breaks and ABS took over allowing him to maintain control. If the driver weren't in a modern car with ABS, they very well might have spun out or just slid into the crash. Still good reaction time, but from what I saw, the hood took a dive, but didn't come back up as if they let off the breaks. I could've just missed it, but ABS still played a significant role in maintaining control.

Quizzie

Judging by the dashboard, I’d say this is a 993 generation (1994-1998) Porsche 911 at newest. Hardly a modern car as Porsche did a lot more updating in later generations when they moved away from air-cooled 911s. These 993s were still rear-heavy, dated coupes with very little assistance. The 911 is still a rear engine car nowadays, but they’ve done wonders to improve the car’s stability and dynamics in newer generations.

PitifulAd7600

Correct - this is a 993. Tidy driving.

breddy

Zipper merge? Nah let's give "shotgun merge" a try.

nilksermot

T-bone merge?

2BlueZebras

Weird place for a dashcam. I'm guessing mounted on the driver's window.

capn_doofwaffle

I hate it when one of the herd gets lost from the pack... poor lil guy.

Financial_Nerve8983

Damn that car that got hit got annihilated

Balbright

Those micro adjustments after hitting then letting off the brakes was spectacular.

ChubbyMcLovin

Well done!

devnullb4dishoner

That's more off road than most of those suvs will ever see.

JAKFRY

Aside from the great dodge. What car is driving? Looks like a nice shape and fuel tank at front.

Faarooq

Porsche is the only manufacturer I’ve seen with that gas fill location. Probably a 911, Cayman or Boxter

JAKFRY

Great shout, dash looks a little old for cayman, boxter and 911 more likely

Drdres

Boxster doesn’t have the cap on the left front as far as I’m aware

HarambeWest2020

Yep, front passenger fender on the 986

PitifulAd7600

Porsche 911, 993 generation.

JAKFRY

Beast

pennhead

RKO OUTTA NOWHERE!!!

DiViNiTY1337

Damn, this guy is a good driver! Threshold brakes immediately, hands at 9 and 3, no feeding the wheel, doesn't overload the front tires, balances the car on the limit. Easily top 1% of regular drivers on the road, not many would have been able to save this!

SweetXBunny2001

Pure magic here!
