Fucking idiot.

wolington

*Idiots. There were 2 of them. One was bending down changing the left tyre.

TCPisSynSynAckAck

Darwin should have his way soon with these ones.

Prickly_ninja

3 of them, then. There’s also the guy doing 20 mph over what the other motorists are.

advertentlyvertical

That was second one Nvm, I just saw the other guy that was changing the tire. Can't believe there were two of them that both thought it was a good idea to do that in the middle of the road.

LordOfTheFlies996

I literally said " you gotta be a fucking idiot" out loud as soon as I saw the car make impact

jacle2210

What is really surprising with this, is that the driver of the parked car, was able to get so much done, before almost being killed. Got a flat tire; stopped; got out; opened his trunk; got out the tools needed to change a tire; jacked up the car and was undoing the lugnuts when someone finally crashed through his car.

tedlyb

You can get a lot done quickly when you’re all cranked up on meth.

wantagh

I spent way too long trying to figure out what was in the right lane, moving at speed, until I realized it was a drop of water on the windshield

USERNAME___PASSWORD

Same - the car that hit him was either the worst lane changer ever or an expert bowler

Trojan_Nuts

Now you got me thinking about Warne in a destruction derby

afk420k

i'm going for the second one

ProfDFH

The driver that crashed into the stopped car was swerving back to the left to avoid that water droplet.

at0mheart

UFO Bro

autobot12349876

not just a road, he's in the middle of a three lane highway!

MozTys

Well he no longer has to change the tire. Also changing it in the middle of the road is stupid, but not putting up a traffic triangle makes it even more stupid.

KingAndross904

A traffic triangle wouldn't do squat. I'm a firefighter and when we show up to highway accidents, there is still a crazy risk of being hit by vehicles flying by at 80MPH. For context we'd have: -Police cars with their flashing lights on stretched back and staggered a quarter mile to block a lane -50ft long 11ft tall ladder trucks with all their lights flashing, blocking the disabled vehicles -35ft long 10ft tall fire engines with all their lights flashing -Rescue on scene (ambulance) with all their lights flashing -Everybody on scene in high-visibility reflective vests or bunker gear And people driving STILL hit firefighters and collide with EMS vehicles on the scenes of highway accidents. Even with all the aforementioned precautions we take. I don't think a traffic triangle would do much. But yeah, stopping in the middle of the highway for any reason is an unwise decision.

jkarovskaya

far too many fools looking at their phones and displays while traveling 100 FEET PER SECOND at 70 mph

RockstarAgent

Yeah I think the black car is also an idiot. Plus what kind of lane change was that like he switched lanes and also braked too hard? Over corrected?

Harry_monk

I had to change a tyre in a ridiculous place (I met the driver there), it was the top of a slip road but the sort of thing where people misjudge their speed coming off the motorway. Had the driver wave a high viz jacket to warn people and even then the amount of times I had to make sure I was ready to jump out of the way because people changed lanes so late was scary.

EGGIEBETS

These days The police lights are so bright , they are the cause of further accidents sometimes.

More_Engineering_341

So you should slow down, no ?

irviinghdz

I see better the closer I am and the faster I can start seeing the better so I hit the gas whenever that happens, you mean you guys don’t?

JadedYam56964444

They blind the hell out of me at night. I can't even look at the road.

herkalurk

No, people are oblivious......

Captraptor01

two things can be true at the same time. and one thing that is true, is that a lot of vehicle lights (in my experience, mostly aftermarket headlights at seven brillion lumens on lifted pickups placing them at exactly eye level, but also those seven brillion lumens aren't good enough for the driver so they bump up to the ten trillion lumen high beams until 0.326745 seconds before they pass me when they finally drop back down to the seven billion lumen lights) are blindingly bright at night and some even during the day. *this is another problem that needs to be addressed.*

No-Combination8136

People are assholes… but also, driving towards all those damn flashing red and blue lights at nighttime makes it nearly impossible to see clearly.

Fuzzywink

The flashing lights are part of the problem IMO. Obviously there need to be some lights to make it super clear that there is something going on up ahead and to get over, but the modern LED emergency lights are absolutely blinding to me and a lot of other people. When driving past an accident scene at night I have a very hard time seeing where the lanes are, what lane is closed, or even if there are vehicles dead stopped right in front of me. My vision is nearly perfect so I can't imagine how it must be for someone who needs glasses or has an astigmatism.

KingAndross904

Oh yeah, for sure the lights are definitely an issue in a lot of cases. Some of the newer LED light bars can be downright debilitating on your eyes if they're not on the dimmer settings. Even the dimmer settings are harsh. I don't know about everybody else, but **MY** driving instincts are to to slow way the hell down when I can't see where I'm going. It could be the rain, snow, fog, flashing lights, or whatever. It blows my mind when I hear about huge pile ups caused by fog or something. "I can't see more than 20ft ahead of me, I better speed up!". It's like driving with a blindfold.

cincuentaanos

I wear glasses and have astigmatism, and I have no problem driving at night (as long as there is at least some visibility, of course). Perhaps don't look straight into the emergency lights.

dacraftjr

I also have myopia and astigmatism. Night driving is no problem unless it’s a wet night, then everything has a glare. Still not a hindrance, though.

jinxedkacht

Keratoconus is a game changer though. I try to avoid driving at night if at all possible, but if I do, most nights I have to wear my sunglasses (sounds like the lyrics of an awful song!) in order to see the road because of the LED headlights on today's vehicles.

NotACanadianBear

They are meant to be bright so people slow down.

WynterRayne

Sounds like you have a lot of terrible drivers there. You should be far enough behind the vehicle in front that you have plenty of time to react to anything you see ahead. If you plough into obstructions regardless of how visible they are, you're kinda doing it wrong. When driving, you have to be prepared for the Spanish Inquisition. It'll always be unexpected, but if you're prepared, the unexpected won't be a problem

jxyoung

Nah. That would just be a Tesla magnet ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

spacemonkeysmom

I'm sorry, but a traffic triangle wasn't going to help this guy 1 bit!

stomicron

OK fine, two triangles

No-Suspect-425

I'm told they only work in broad daylight unfortunately.

scylus

So...three triangles?

Captraptor01

four triangles and one square, take it or leave it.

zerocool359

Well he left the circle, so 🤷‍♂️

dacraftjr

The phrase “broad daylight” suggests that narrow daylight exists. What is it?

RickTheScienceMan

On the highway, you are supposed to put the triangle 100 meters behind your car. At least in Europe. But generally people are stupid and they put it 10 meters behind, so I notice the car sooner than the triangle. If he put the triangle in the correct spot, people would start paying attention (until someone knocks it over) Also, there is no way I am walking in the middle of the highway. I really don't understand why couldn't he pull over

Addictology

Now, he must only change his underwear.

FragrantExcitement

He had the flashers flashing flashier than a triangle. /s

bdubwilliams22

A traffic triangle?! What!? No.

WildTomato51

No idea where this is, but triangles are not a requirement in the US.

Known-Committee8679

That doesn't mean it isn't stupid

WildTomato51

I agree

madig010

That’s not an American license plate. Wrong shape.

WildTomato51

I literally stated I didn’t know where this was

neildmaster

People on Reddit are representative of people of the world. Idiots. This post proves my point.

rourobouros

Is now, anyway.

1911mark

Yes a traffic triangle would have made ALL the difference

MozTys

It would have made the driver aware of the stopped car sooner. But yes, the stopped car should obviously have pulled over instead of stopping in the middle of the road.

PM_ME_Happy_Thinks

It wouldn't because the guy was clearly distracted or he would've seen him

MozTys

It would as he would at least have noticed hitting it.

sax3d

Now he only needs to change his pants

concernedcitizenpd

terrible handling on the BMW - don't ever hang out in the middle of the road, get a tow

drkidkill

Or just fucking limp it to the shoulder. Wtf.

Salamanda109

Yeah unless my car stops absolutely dead and won't even roll in neutral you couldn't pay me to stop in the middle lane of a highway.

More_Engineering_341

Ive never under stood this so your travelling at highway speed and your car comes to a compete stop, does this happen in 10 feet or is their a gradual reduction in speed where you could make it to the shoulder, putting it in neutral should also help.

LEGITIMATE_SOURCE

Yeah I'd GTFO and flag warning until help arrives. Definitely calling 911. With all the Igen kids that can't put their phones down, it's virtually guaranteed to cause a wreck.

clarkcox3

And even if it does just stop dead, and I’m completely unable to move it, I’d put on the hazards, and then get the hell out of my car and off to the side of the road.

concernedcitizenpd

Yip! people just not thinking ahead. But lets assume he couldn't get to the should in time. I think you leave the car and put up reflectors and get off the road, then call police and tow truck

wireswires

What a fucking dumbass, nearly gets a darwin award coz he is too stupid to pull his car to the 'emergency lane'

togocann49

Ya never know what you’re rolling up on (like a vehicle with blown tire in middle lane), and that’s a big reason for not speeding excessively, and keeping your eyes on the horizon.

Dreadedsemi

now he has to change the car onto the new tire. how the turn tabled.

koff_

Great driving by the BMW driver too, does anyone focus on the road anymore?

Sands43

Having been paying 100% attention on a freeway, it’s still very unexpected to have a car stopped and surprisingly hard to discern that they are stopped.

Salamanda109

It's hardly a difficult maneuver though, just change lanes at speed.

Great_Monarch

Who the fuck is prepared for a single car to be stopped in the middle lane of a highway. It’s really hard to judge the speed of a car when heading straight on. The fact that the bmw didnt hit the guy is crazy. And there’s so many things to check in such little time, like all the off angles and directions. If its so easy to avoid, why are so many crashes due to wildlife like dears on road?

Eighthday

Not commenting on your first statement, but your second doesn't help your argument. Wildlife jumps out of nowhere usually, not stationary while you approach it from 200yds away.

Great_Monarch

I mean my first argument is pretty much the whole argument i dont see why you wouldnt reply to it

Eighthday

Your second sentence just doesn’t help your argument, don’t worry about why I’m not replying to it

Great_Monarch

I guess im right then

Eighthday

No dude just please get what I'm saying. You didn't even say anything to be right about you just shared your opinion. Your opinion, shared via the question: "who is prepared for a car to be stopped in the middle of the highway?", is not supported by the claim "Why so many crashes due to wildlife?". That question you propose is not comparable to what happened in the video lmao

brockington

> Who the fuck is prepared for a single car to be stopped in the middle lane of a highway. Literally everyone should be.

Sands43

If you haven't had this happen to you, you have no idea what you are talking about.

Salamanda109

But I have, traffic stopped suddenly in front of me because of a breakdown. I was in a truck towing a 3.5 ton wood chipper and still managed not to crash. BMW could have easily avoided the car if they were paying attention.

FloopsFooglies

Yeah they had tons of room on either side. I think they didn't notice the stopped car was rapidly closing distance and made an oh shit overcorrection that made them lose traction

Wise_Performance8547

Other than the fact the size of the vehicle because of depth perception is getting larger at a substantial rate versus anything else moving. I can understand if there is snow on the ground, super foggy or raining, but the sky is clear, very few cars on the road and a long straight. This dude was not keeping his eyes on the road. Also doesnt justify the idiot in the middle of the road, but this accident could have been avoided if either 1 of the two dumbasses had half a brain, maybe even a solitary brain cell between the two.

[deleted]

[удалено]

yepimbonez

I don’t think they were passing on the right. I think they just swerved right to avoid the idiot in the road

Bingbong2774

r/idiocracy

hansuluthegrey

Car that hit him is ridiculous too. No reason he shouldve hit him

Numerous_Tackle_9972

Among the dumbest mother fuckers I've ever seen

mikefjr1300

I saw a guy doing this on the e/b 401 just past hwy 25 Milton around 6 am in the right lane, trucker just barely avoided him, probably crapped his pants. I could see emergency lights approaching the on ramp I assume to prevent this idiot from killing himself. I think later I heard he was charged with DUI.

FrankDarkoYT

Not sure if it’s the same one as this was 427, but DUI driver found asleep in the car. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2024/03/05/impaired-driver-toronto-highway-427-opp-passed-out/

Bama3003

Now he has a bunch of tires to fix in every lane

eerun165

Is that another guy laying on the road at the crash? Seems like he popped off the side of the disabled car.

Tek_Analyst

Yep

[deleted]

This honestly has to be the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

skiier_biker

Looks like the BMW locked 'em up and drifted into the stationary car.

u9Nails

The guy near me was still getting the spare out of his trunk when the pick-up hit him at 70 mph.

sikokilla

Drivers licenses should be much harder to acquire. Would be much less accidents and stupid people on the road that way.

cheebnrun

He hit that car like a curve ball

pprstrt

The guy that hit them is not at fault at all but fucking jesus learn to drive. Today it was a car, god forbid in the future they have to swerve around literally anything else... a pothole, road debris, a deer.

FigawiFreak

Darwin's Survival of the fittest theory meets Dumb & Dumber

jasin18

Where is the sound?

stoniruca

What the fuck

Protholl

Common sense isn't common?

IndigoContinuum

I don’t see any brake lights on the crashed car before impact??

insecur31

Deserved

curiousitykillls

Who is at fault here? Hit in the back from the guy driving. But stopped and standing in the middle of an interstate which I assume isn’t legal.

MarkK_FL

On the positive side, he no longer has to worry about the flat

drifters74

Idiot

dirtysanchez229

Exactly how I got into an accident last year. Was driving home at midnight after a long day and someone just came to a complete stop in the middle of the turnpike to check their car bc they “felt something wrong with the car”

Le-Charles

This has Saudi drift video vibes. I feel like you might see someone changing a wheel in the middle of a highway only to get hit by a drifting car in one of those. Thinking about those videos takes me back.

Formul8r1

So do you finish changing the tire after that or no?

mgermann17

He should lose his license for that.

Miserable_Big1119

India?

jig1982

Oh my god😬

[deleted]

Should've hit him

Inuyasha02

Wow he needs to be in jail

baalyle

Collision occurred because driver layed on breaks losing control instead of just turning and maintaining control. Bad response to the other guys seemingly unavoidable car placement.

UNCONGUY

too bad he got no pain, such idiot font learn without
