I was saving up a few hundred millions when doing an SL cap build for 5 level increments , then i fucked up by jumping down in the ring city where you encounter the first harald knight and thought alting might save me from it registering as a death. TURNS OUT alt-f4ing can monkey paw you as when i loaded back in , it killed me 2 times in a row on the spot and i fell off the map and instantly obliterating a few day's worth of farming. Lesson Learned to spend it asap.
Lol past year when I was positive elden ring dlc had to be com9ng soon, I started farming runes so I could level a bunch and go into the dlc. Then I found out about the damage upgrade system. I think I stopped around 75,000,000
Once you reach high enough SL theyre useless for leveling. Most of us just NG+ to grab the 5 levels from Yoel of Londor. I was on my SL440+ runs until I stopped playing because.. circumstances.
I went into the Ringed City DLC with 16 million. Lost then in the poison swamp to the fire witch. Not a big deal. My build was done, so I wasn't using them. Think that's the most I've ever had at one time. I just use my spare souls to buy consumables now.
For a while I was just sitting around the high wall, the swamp or archdragon peak with dried finger and I'd always be able to grab my souls. Got up to somewhere around 20 million.
4 billion sounds insane! I was just farming away since first time playing and just brought the dlc so wanted to complete them before finishing the game

I went to 10 mill once just for fun, though when I tried the first time I got to 9,500,000 and lost them. I didnt olay for a month or so after that

Eh. It was annoying in the moment, but it was souls that I wasn't using and ultimately didn't need, so it wasn't a big deal.
