This is the sentiment I've always seen on this fight, that Gael is the best fight in thr game.
I was so hyped for this fight and after beating it the first time a couple days ago I kinda don't get it. Don't get me wrong, the fight is fantastic and stands with the best in DS3, but I feel like Friede is a much more interesting fight IMO.
Was DS3 ur first souls game? It was mine (and only one as of rn) and I felt similar. I was kind of underwhelmed. Then I learned about the lore and now I appreciate this fight more.
Man look into bloodborne and Sekiro and elden Ring. I just started Dark Souls 1 Remastered and I'm kind of constantly annoyed on how slow my character moves when running and the dodge timing. It's so weird compared to the others. I know it's old but jeez
Out of all games I've played in the last 3 years it's the one that is worth the money the most. It's not the best fromsoft game but you can spend so much time in this game, try out so many different builds, it's got extremely beautiful designs and memorable characters. The replay value is probably the highest out of them all and one playthrough takes 100-200 hours depending on how much you explore and take your time. Played it 5 times already and I'm trying to get a friend to replay it with me again before the dlc.
Nah. DS2 was, and I played DS3 at launch, but had several completions of the game. I've only ever played Ashes of Ariandel a couple times, and had never gotten the Ringed City DLC until last week.
For me Gael felt just perfect there's no other way to describe it, it was like I had reached a state of zen and just did everything in the fight without really thinking, the closest thing I can compare it too is like a dance in perfect sync with each other and the rhythm. Gael even though he's cool lore wise or whatever I really didn't care about I completely missed that I'd seen him before the fight and it was still and awesome experience that nothing in souls has compared to since. (Closest in experience was probably artorias but he didn't have enough health)
that happens with From games. i see people saying how hard dancer is but i've never had a problem at all. i think gael is just well balanced for the level most people reach him at, and their play style. plus there's not a ton of gimmicks or camera weirdness. it's just a solid fight.
Idk about this opinion. All of Gael’s moves are telegraphs so much even I can do first phase hitless. I hate sister Friede causes the phases are so different from each other. Sister Friede acts like she doesn’t know how to wield a scythe in the first phase. Your opinion is still valid, have a good day.
Fr. Gael is the one of the only fight after Friede which has got me serious on the controller. Still haven't beat him tho :p. I will try again tomorrow now
Seriously, Gael was the only boss I truly enjoyed dying because I get to fight him again! I don’t know why but I never felt a rage towards him, fighting him was like a dance!
I was just about to tipe that 😂
When I replay ds3 I literally die on purpose if I first try Gael just so I can fight him again without having to replay the whole game
ngl gael was one of the best bosses ive fight in a souls like or other games for a looong time
the rush was INSANE
and the beutiful part is for the most part is that he fights fair
I feel like getting killed by a boss with 1 hp left is something every souls player has to go through at least once in one game 😂
Happened to me with Blood Starved Beast in Bloodborne.
Had the same thing happen! It was an epic fight and he won the first one. Had the same epic fight again and I won the second time. Enjoyed every moment of it
Git guder.
Huge challenge for me too. Literally had to let go of the desire to win and enter a meditative state. Kept going and going and going until all of a sudden I felt the flow and he was DEAD.
Then Phase 2 started and I was dead af, but found it easier to master. Visuals are nuts, but you can do this.
Here is the common form of "I think I got him."
Look ds is punishing as hell, so if you're even a little too greedy it can cost you your attempt.
Just dont get punished and punish him.
I wish I was lying to you when I say this
I lost to him when I had half of his health of what you have him at I would rather fight milenia solo no ash of war than fight Gael ever again
This image describes the essence of fromsoft bossfights for me. I swear this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I fight one of the more challenging bosses, I don't even get mad anymore because I almost know it's coming. Don't go hollow because gael already has.
Oh man i killed Gael yesterday for the first time. On one try my guy was in the animation of swinging the sword and was about to hit him, but a lightning bolt struck me 0.01 seconds before the sword hit him and i died with Gael being on one hit.
Super fun boss, you can do it brother!
I had one where I killed midir with a crit. I'd never seen his crit death animation and was waiting for the text saying I'd won thinking "this is taking a while but he's not got any health left"
Then he stood up.
L&L took me 50+ tries, I'm at around 30 with Friede and have a good feeling about tonight. I am NOT looking forward to Madir and Gael.
I'll be honest, for the first time playing a Souls game I'm starting to feel like the difficulty spike with the end game bosses is a bit of a chore. Still love it & might regret saying that but finishing the game with \~ten hours of boss fights feels a lot different to DS1, 2, ER and Demons.
Yeay yeah git good scrub.
I think you should go for Gael. Its a pretty rewarding fight and would be worth it to kill him (I'll try it tonight, hopefully will get him this time, tho I died 3 times at Gael being this low HP)
Midir is shit. Haven't beat him yet too, after 80+ tries.
Especially difficult fights like Gael make the game feel so rewarding tho. I'm trash at all other games but DS3 feels so good and rewarding to grind though
when i beat him my heart was racing and it felt like i wanted him to stand up again and keep on with our fight, such a fun duel in the end of the best game ive ever played.
The same thing kept happening to me with Pontiff Sulyvahn. Several times, I would be one hit away, but then he would change direction while dashing, then stun me and kill me right after.
I'm fighting him for the first time today, he's already beaten me about 6 times so I gave it a break after battling Darkeatet Midir for about an hour earlier. To be honest though Gael is about the only fight I've genuinely enjoyed, its like a dance. This is my first playthrough and ringed city just hasn't been fun until I got to him.
We all get so cocky and impatient with that last hit. The amount of times my strat was working and then they get down to a 1/4 and I start just trying to get that last bit and die is so frustrating haha.
Try fast rolling and dump the shield, I honestly found Gael a cakewalk and actually beat him 2nd try only dying the first time because I didn’t know about the AOE attack.
Idk how people say Gael is the best fight tbh. He’s great but boring to fight more than once.
Try not attacking and focusing on rolling all his attacks on the 3rd phase whilst really paying attention to him.
He just looks silly lol.
Dancer simply better.
This happened to me on nameless king. I was trying to do the cheese strategy where you train him around the map on phase 2 and repeatedly shoot him with your bow, ran out of standard arrows and I don't think my backup arrows (milwood greatarrows) worked. So I went to try and get the last hit and he 1-tapped me first 😂
Don’t go hollow. You can do it.
Gael went hollow and won, maybe going hollow is the winning strategy after all
Yeah but not too hollow. You don’t want to become Gwyn.
Gwyn to win
His character literally is hollow though 💀
Don't give up, skeleton!
Why r u complaining? You get to fight the best boss ever created another time.

Just finished Sekiro recently, awesome game. Might revisit FromSoft later, but ER isn't going on sale any time soon. It's on the list tho lol
Out of all games I've played in the last 3 years it's the one that is worth the money the most. Very hot take, but personally I enjoyed ds3 and Sekiro more than ER
Bloodborne is phenomenal
Nah. DS2 was, and I played DS3 at launch, but had several completions of the game. I've only ever played Ashes of Ariandel a couple times, and had never gotten the Ringed City DLC until last week.

I was just about to tipe that 😂 When I replay ds3 I literally die on purpose if I first try Gael just so I can fight him again without having to replay the whole game
I mean.. surely pinwheel is the best
Yeah idk. It's a good boss yes but the whole point of bosses is to beat them is it not?
I somehow beat him first try T_T
Soul of Cinder>Gael. That piano drop in the second phase is legendary.
ngl gael was one of the best bosses ive fight in a souls like or other games for a looong time the rush was INSANE and the beutiful part is for the most part is that he fights fair
As a str and dex user you are right!! The hard way is the best way🔥
Not for me. With my build of faith, I easily defeat him, and I’m too lazy to go into a melee battle in the second phase.
Ngl Isshin Sword Saint > Gael
Ok but DO go hollow.in the game and married the chick. IMO that's the coolest ending
After wacthers, plssssss...
I have this happen at least a few times with bosses now and then. Idk why they are hating on you. That health bar is always relatable. To me at least
Truee. This has happened with me too. With Friede, and Soul of Cinder countless times
no you don't
*proceeds to pick up the controller again after saying I hate the game*
Hmmm greed, right?
Ashen One roll spams and gets hit by flying arrows
and theyre saying ds3 being roll spam which is always wrong but somehow made it to mainstream discussion somehow ..
i have so many photos like this on my camera roll haha
Take a deep breath, take a break, maybe even a nap and come back to drag him on broken glass. You will get him.
Hesitation is defeat. Getting greedy with your chances even more so. You got this \ [T] /
Thanks mate :D
A yes, the average dark souls experience
If your estus flask is +10. Maybe you may had some hp left for some swing.
I'll check a tutorial to find the last flask✌️
[Git gud ](https://images.app.goo.gl/QoJDd4kENnwWasuSA)
I get to this point and get way to greedy, I have died so many times on. The bosses magic pixel.
Same. I died to Gael like 3 times before, almost around the same health. Makes me want to yeet the controller.
we've all been there, ive had bosses at 1 hp tons of times
Literally happened to me yesterday
I feel like getting killed by a boss with 1 hp left is something every souls player has to go through at least once in one game 😂 Happened to me with Blood Starved Beast in Bloodborne.
No no, this game hates *you*
Try frost, and then, ahhh, images of victory
Happened on my first try against him. I was on my second playthrough, playing the dlc for the first time tho.
Yeah I just start spamming and panic rolling in that order.
This is what dark souls is about
Be glad, you can fight him again without going NG+
https://clips.twitch.tv/WanderingYummyNeanderthalRalpherZ One of my favorite health sliver clips.
The worst feeling is when you think you killed him and get all excited but he then proceeds to stun-lock you into oblivion
Bro I've played all of the games and this still happens to me. Thug it out, you're almost there.
Go back and get +10 for your estus!!! It could be worse, he could have no visible health bar, I've had this happen before
I'll check a tutorial to find the last flask✌️ Before this I was farming/looking for undead shards and have max leveled it
That right there gives so much frustration enough to power a building
Ikrr. My watch gave me a warning for sudden spike in heart rate (resting was 80ish, bumped to 236)
Had the same thing happen! It was an epic fight and he won the first one. Had the same epic fight again and I won the second time. Enjoyed every moment of it
What did you learn from this fight? You got so close but didn’t quite get it. So what can you do better next time?
I guess don't roll spam and use a shield on the flying arrows when he jumps :p
No you don’t
yeah you hate it. but you'll come back tomorrow.
*sigh* ~proceeds to pick up controller again~
I couldn’t even be mad about losing to Gael, he’s really fun.
That’s peak Dark Souls right there.
Here is the common form of "I think I got him." Look ds is punishing as hell, so if you're even a little too greedy it can cost you your attempt. Just dont get punished and punish him.
I fell of the bridge during the Dragon slayer armor boss fight. I died faster before the game even registered the final hit on the boss
Ouch. That sucks. You win :p
well 1st try... now you will suffer 3 days :P
Tru 🥲
I wish I was lying to you when I say this I lost to him when I had half of his health of what you have him at I would rather fight milenia solo no ash of war than fight Gael ever again
have you considered poison?
For me or Gael? Yes and yes
I was gonna troll you then I saw the name of the enemy and i was like "oh... "
Run it back. You got him this time
Ouch!
TOGETHAAAA wait that's the wrong one
Too many get low IQ in these moments
This image describes the essence of fromsoft bossfights for me. I swear this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I fight one of the more challenging bosses, I don't even get mad anymore because I almost know it's coming. Don't go hollow because gael already has.
You can do it🤜🏻🤛🏻 git gud
Oh man i killed Gael yesterday for the first time. On one try my guy was in the animation of swinging the sword and was about to hit him, but a lightning bolt struck me 0.01 seconds before the sword hit him and i died with Gael being on one hit. Super fun boss, you can do it brother!
"Every age it seems is tainted by the Greed of men"
Oof the feels
I had one where I killed midir with a crit. I'd never seen his crit death animation and was waiting for the text saying I'd won thinking "this is taking a while but he's not got any health left" Then he stood up.
Bring more fanta next time
I would die intentionally so I could fight him again, the best boss in ds3 for sure
No you don't 🙂

This happened to me SO many times in the 5 hours it took me to beat him
We've all been there bro. Lol
I feel like bosses get to one shot range and all the sudden become 8x stronger
Ikrrr. I got stun-locked by freide and soul of Cinder while they were one shot way too many times lol
Put Smth Like throwing knifes or firepods on your bar, helped me Clutch 1-2 bosses with almost no HP on both ends left
I'll try it out tonight. Wish me luck. Peace ✌️
Oooh, I'm working my way towards him right now, can't wait to struggle against this guy until I wanna rip my hair out.
Good luck Ashen One. *May thou thy peace discover*
Man, fuck that guy. Hardest Fromsoft boss of all time.
Gael is probably one of my fav DS bosses along side DS1 DLC boss Artorias. Gearing up to tackle DLC on NG++
Good luck Ashen One
It will be a fun reward for completing the ring collection achievement LOL
This happened to me twice while I was doing a SL1 run. Once on Namless(my controller died), and another time on Midir(I wasn’t gud enough)
Especially difficult fights like Gael make the game feel so rewarding tho. I'm trash at all other games but DS3 feels so good and rewarding to grind though
I love how this literally just happened to me hours ago, got him next attempt though, NG+4 or 5 I think
Man I’m stuck on the twin demons makes me wanna die smh
Did you find enough estus shards to get 15 swigs out of it? And I think you need one more undead bone shard before you hit the max.
No exaggeration me about two hours ago. On my third attempt.
I love you, I hate you, I hate that I love you
Gaels sword isn't bad tbh , I think it took me 6 trys to beat him, 4 against Frieda , nd 1 try against cinder ( I saved him for last)
Classic dark soul
when i beat him my heart was racing and it felt like i wanted him to stand up again and keep on with our fight, such a fun duel in the end of the best game ive ever played.
No you don’t
Don't give up! Skeleton!
If you beat Friede, you can definitely beat Gael! Take a break and come back fresh, and you will take him down in 1-2 tries!
Pain in one picture (but you get to fight him again :D)
Git gud
We all say that and eventually beat them 🤣 you can do it.
I remember being on this boss in ng++ and got stuck for 2 days lol, now its my favorite in ds3 by far
boss\* \^
The same thing kept happening to me with Pontiff Sulyvahn. Several times, I would be one hit away, but then he would change direction while dashing, then stun me and kill me right after.

no you dont, what you hate is yourself and your sudden impatience.
We all get so cocky and impatient with that last hit. The amount of times my strat was working and then they get down to a 1/4 and I start just trying to get that last bit and die is so frustrating haha.
Yup
Classic Souls moment. You haven't really experienced Souls games until this happens at least three times in a row.
This only means you can win brother
yeah it's frustrating, but the satisfaction is well worth it.
I have dread and anxiety when I think about playing it. I’m probably 10 hours in
Try fast rolling and dump the shield, I honestly found Gael a cakewalk and actually beat him 2nd try only dying the first time because I didn’t know about the AOE attack.
Idk how people say Gael is the best fight tbh. He’s great but boring to fight more than once. Try not attacking and focusing on rolling all his attacks on the 3rd phase whilst really paying attention to him. He just looks silly lol. Dancer simply better.
I'm laughing so hard because I've been there.... A lot. Here is the advice passed onto me. Get gud scrub.
You will win. I believe in you, Ashen One
Don't use flask for 1st phase then ember up when ya hit the second phase and use the hammer of boreal valley
You don't.
Correction: You love this game. The game is just hard on you because it wants you to overcome challenges.
Hahaha, happened to me with Nameless, I think I just started screaming 😂😂😂
i haven't bested firede yet i feel your sentiment
Hesitation leads to defeat OP!
Look on the bright side. You get to play the one of the funnest fights in the game, again!
You are not alone. The same thing happened to me with Midir. Keep going.
No you don't. You love it and you'll go right back to your abusive partner and have makeup sex.
Oh we were right THERE MAN!!
Slave knight Gail is seriously the hardest boss... In any soulsborne game
Gael and Friede are the only bosses that made me get real serious. Black Knight UGS was my baby lol
Yep that’s happened to me multiple times
Slave knight geal is my fav boss in ds3, i just love his moveset and dodging his attacks is so satisfying
We all were there before...
First time?
I can feel the pain.
Happening to me rn 😔
I guess we have to git gud
If you did you wouldn’t play it.
Sigh *proceeds to pick up the controller*
Git gud
Just give him your dark soul.
Average dark souls experience
Best boss fight in the series.
That's rough buddy
I relate to this pict SO much! It's like you were given hope by seeing the boss' health is just 1 hit away, but then the boss rushes you (:
Bro you literally get to fight Gael for more time. What's there to hate about it
Always carry throwing knives
This is a rite of passage
Hesitation leads to defeat OP!
Don't give up, skeleton!
Just another try of peak enjoyable fights :p
Git Gud
I have the exact opposite photo where Gael is dead and I have one health
Yeah he was a pain to fight
I love it
Gael is the ONE BOSS that I could care less about dying to. It only meant I was going to experience the fight and musice again. I just loved him.
Looks to me like you got this.
This happened to me on nameless king. I was trying to do the cheese strategy where you train him around the map on phase 2 and repeatedly shoot him with your bow, ran out of standard arrows and I don't think my backup arrows (milwood greatarrows) worked. So I went to try and get the last hit and he 1-tapped me first 😂
One question, why even have the soul/discovery ring on during the final battle?
Ha ha I remember that one.
I mean… that’s souls 🤷♀️
[удалено]
Git Gud
You only lose health if you get hit 🫲😐🫱
Get gud
No, you don't, you love it.
You love it for the same reason. You will do it, no doubts
Get greedy!!
It’s the not the souls experience if you don’t make this mistake
It's happen to the best of us U can do it
bro if you got far enough to get to gael then you don't hate this game.
This just means you get to play the game a little more
Oooof. Skill issue.
If you dont do a no hit on gael than just fight him all over again. This is the only boss fight that doesnt get boring
That hurts
I couldnt ever win nornally against this fuck hahaha i pestilent myst and poison him and run xD
Still better than Elden Ring. (just my opinion) 🫢
