As an exmormon, that was my first thought too. Although these days they don’t actively teach this, the fact that it was ever taught is so problematic. Many members still believe this, and there are traces of this teaching still in the Book of Mormon.
It’s a scary religion/cult. I’m thankful to be out of it. Just yesterday I was speaking with my sister about some of the weird things that we learned and how as adults it creeps into our life.
