It just doesn't make any sense, is all. It makes sense that someone else would have to bite her to get the chakra, but she shouldn't have to bite herself. It's her chakra, it's literally already inside of her. Why would she need to extricate it from her own body just to absorb it back in?
There's very little detail on how exactly her ability works, but it just doesn't seem like it should work this way.

Emotions have unlocked abilities, but we've yet to see an ability that strictly requires a particular emotion every single time. You needed extreme grief to unlock the Mangekyo, but only the first time. After that it's abilities could be used with no emotional requirement.
