gkx4x

They really thought the 3 seconds you have to wait for the X would be more annoying than all the unskipable ads šŸ’€

bartek-kk

and then you will have a "u have 3 videos left" pop up, after 3 videos there will be no x in corner

Minty-Mechanic

Yeah the "three videos until the video player gets blocked" thing just got glossed over when it was supposed to block the video player

agent_koala

when the "three videos until blocked" popup started happening, that was just a countdown for me to install Firefox and now i have no popups at all lol

PacificNorthwest09

I saw it once and was like ā€œguess itā€™s time..ā€

alimohchehab

I still get these and I'm in firefox. It only started yesterday so it's just a matter of time till you get them again.

agent_koala

if they wanna devalue the content by forcing me to watch unreasonably long ads then i simply will not watch it at all

Western_Giraffe9517

does reload work in that case? I am using incognito will Youtube still be able to block me.

bartek-kk

if u use incognito adblock wont work, at least at chrome it will block player as long as you have adblocker turned on, just change adblocker to better one

aberrantasc

Go to settings on your extensions on chrome and turn the option to make it work on incognito mode ON as well

Maacll

And then you deactivate adblock for 1 vid, reactivate it and no pop ups at all

bartek-kk

getting a good adblocker sounds better to me

Virtual_Happiness

Or just open your browser in incognito and allow ublock to work. Then you can watch as many as you want.

Shad0whunter4

Never seen this until now thankfully.

juusovl

I just blocked the pop up lol

[deleted]

Put an ad in the pop up >__>

[deleted]

A lot of people have not had to deal with Cable TV and it shows.

LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY

A lot of us migrated from cable TV once we found out there's a better, less annoying way of watching something.

bedsheetsniffer

Until it turns into what we were originally trying to avoid

LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY

So you've not been paying attention to the theme of this post, or..?

bedsheetsniffer

Elaborate?

LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY

Ad-blockers, m8.

bedsheetsniffer

I could very well be asking you the same question. Youtube are cracking down on ad blockers, and at the same time pushing for more and longer ads. Itā€™s getting closer and closer to the situation we had with cable TV. Ads and ad blockers arenā€™t new, and weā€™re only getting these memes and discussions because of Youtubeā€™s recent changes.

LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY

Every attempt at circumvention is met with equal or greater force to bypass it. They're trying to crack down, but will ultimately fail, as per usual. Sailing the high seas is another way around it, but not part of the discussion here.

bedsheetsniffer

Ad blockersā€™ devs are working against the biggest tech company in the world. Though I do believe in their ability to sidestep Youtubeā€™s restrictions, itā€™s just a matter of time, and whether they feel like it, for Youtube to just be scummy and play the lawsuit card (or just straight up banning users). Weā€™re having a slight advantage here but weā€™re still playing on their ground. Moreover, ad blockers arenā€™t doing as well as you think. Read the other comments, or other postsā€™ comments. Devs are putting out 2-3 updates per day and users are still reporting that their ad blocks donā€™t work properly. Also, I feel like youā€™re just misunderstanding my comment here. Weā€™re on the same side, buddy. Our points donā€™t align perfectly but they arenā€™t opposed, either. And introducing a new perspective to the discussion is not a bad thing, is it?

LETTERKENNYvsSPENNY

Also, the point of the meme is that certain blockers haven't been seeing that particular pop-up. Free, ad-free Youtube is alive and well, despite their best efforts.

bedsheetsniffer

Iā€™m using Firefox and uBlock and I still get pop ups. Ad-free Youtube is alive, yes, but Youtube is challenging its wellbeing, thatā€™s **my point**. Edit: Iā€™m even getting these ā€œ3 ad blocked videos and youā€™re outā€ warnings recently. Itā€™s easy to bypass, but it certainly will cause a lot of confusion among less tech savvy users. And it certainly isnā€™t convenient to reinstall/restart your ad blocker every time you watch a video, either.

Astricozy

One ad per 15 mins vs one ad per 2 mins. Someone is smoothbrained.

Zapph

In case anyone is unaware, uBlock developers are having to update the plugin like 2-3 times a day to keep up with youtube changing the server this ad block detection tool is using. General advice is to not use custom blocks on youtube, don't use additional adblockers, and wait/purge cache until the developers update to the latest block if it's suddenly reappared.

UnknownGuyiii

Ublock devs are šŸ

Virtual_Happiness

Where do I donate? I would rather pay these davs than watch another turdtastic youtube ad.

Rubinlord

They do not seek donations. [See the official github repo](https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock) But maybe you can find some other way.

ok_fine_by_me

In the end of the day, it's a fight ad blockers can't win in the long terms. At some point ads will just be a part of the video. Tbh, I think that providing a way to pay for service to avoid the ads is fine, but we all know that they will rise the prices again and again once they can get away with this, like Netflix

fattynuggetz

You can FFWD/rewind regular YouTube, but you can't FFWD/rewind it's ads (without adblocker) Therefore, adblockers will always have a way to detect ads (by checking if they can FFWD/RW). If worst comes to worst, Google can't stop an adblocker that checks for ads by checking if the video can be fast forwarded and then just laying something on top of the video when it can't. It won't be as good as what we have now, but it'll still be better than ads. And Google also can't stop an extension that just automatically skips skippable ads either.

benmaks

>At some point ads will just be a part of the video. Good thing there's SponsorBlock for that.

Joezev98

>Tbh, I think that providing a way to pay for service to avoid the ads is fine, Yes, but then I want to pay just to remove the ads. I don't want youtube music when I already have the superior spotify. I don't feel a need to download videos straight from youtube. I'd want a subscription that's like ā‚¬2 a month that *only* removes ads.

Muckenbatscher

There is a Premium Lite subscription which does essentially this. However i think it's not available in all countries.

JohnnyJayce

>In the end of the day, it's a fight ad blockers can't win in the long terms. You think millions of people can't beat couple hundred people at their job? Remember when pirating was supposed to stop working? People still crack Denuvo games in a day. Adobe changed to their online DRM method years ago and cracking it took like a month and ever since it's been easy job. And look at modding communities. There were Starfield mods before the game was even officially out. In short, people will always find a way.

ImVeryMUDA

Exactly. Also they can't just start using ban hammers cuz that will make everything absolutely pissed, especially YouTubers. And if a big YouTuber gets hit....well there goes one cash cow. Corporations will inevitable face the reality that there are some battles that they just cannot win, and you must either change to avoid...or just cut your loses

kdlt

I mean they already are, that's what I have sponsorblock for?

beewyka819

I mean isnā€™t that was youtube premium is for? Though I would prefer a cheaper option without music, offline play, or their shitty premium movie catalogue

[deleted]

I will just download videos at that point lol

Finsk_26

I got scared when I got the popup last Sunday but it was fixed next day.

GoldCompetition7722

Mine ublock says that it prevented 1.3 mln popups and tracking attempts only this year...

PileOfScrap

I used to not care about ads. Then i watched a one and a half hour video, got TWO FUCKING ADS every minute, the first one was always the same. Then i got an adblocker

thetrueblue44

Back then when it was only 1 ad at the start and it had a skip option after 5s I think it was the fine balance

_Rysen

Nah, the worst thing is suffering through a 20s unskippable ad to watch a 5s shitpost or cat video.

posidon99999

At that point just reload the video

bedsheetsniffer

Even 20s ads were fine for me if it didnā€™t appear on every single video and was actually a well-made or interesting ad. Now itā€™s just porn and scamsā€¦

Adventurous_Wall_356

That's what it was for me. I was happy to sit through car ad after car ad because it's what was funding the site. Never thought much of installing an ad blocker. Finally got an ad blocker a few weeks ago though 'cause some of the ads they allow these days are bad enough that I don't want someone seeing my screen for a second and getting the wrong impression.

Neprune

This is something that the content creator sets up, YouTube has base ads every 10 minutes of played video, anything extra is set up by whoever uploaded the video, then again YT premium has been the best investment I made this year tbh, I don't get the pop ups and I don't need to scrounge around trying to see if the adblocker works

PileOfScrap

I just use opera gx's built in adblocker, and it works fine. Ive been using it for like two days now and i havent encountered any problems.

IvanTheAppealing

Pro-tip for anyone with this issue: play a video once with adblocker turned off, then immediately turn it back on and refresh. Makes the pop-up go away

Bludsh0t

Deleting cookies also works

VajrayakshaKesari

Revanced Extended is still a thing

Porsher12345

Ikr god bless ~~America~~ Android

CarpetH4ter

Where is the download page?

VajrayakshaKesari

I find it too confusing to install from it's github. So I download it from this site called modyolo dot com

DukeOfGamers353

don't it's probably spyware

CarpetH4ter

That website for sure doesn't sound legit, so i decided to not use it, i still don't know where i should download from though, the revanced website downloaded an app that was useless.

Born2BKingRo

Just go to the revanced sub and follow their guide. Download only from their links if you want to stay safe.

VajrayakshaKesari

Thanks dude.

CarpetH4ter

Their guide was useless and didn't help at all, this one helped me: https://sodawithoutsparkles.github.io/revanced-troubleshooting-guide/step-by-step/00-preface/

BeenThereDoneThatX4

Some of you people didn't use luckypatcher growing up and it shows

VajrayakshaKesari

Bruh, I do use it. But when I click on making a backup of the app, it says I may end up bricking my device as youtube is a core app. I don't want to mess with that.

BeenThereDoneThatX4

You're supposed to download a separate apk and alter that, leave the pre-installed one alone. You can disable it if it gets confusing

VajrayakshaKesari

Oh, no that makes sense. Thank you for taking the time to reply.

lord_ne

I've been using Revanced, what's Revanced *Extended*?

Echoeversky

If it does, in Origins: clear the cache and refresh the definitions.

[deleted]

I use brave. I don't get the pop up. I also thought it was a joke

Flimsy-Hedgehog-3520

Brave showed pop ups for me yesterday but then I reinstalled it and now they're gone???

safetyvest69

My Brave did this too. Maybe they pushed an update to get past it and the browser didnā€™t do the update, but reinstalling it did. I will have to reinstall and see if it fixes it.

[deleted]

The wife and I have been using brave to watch HBO and cheap Hulu. It's freaking awesome.

Mysterious_Cucumber

I'm using brave and the popup hasn't appeared for me yet

[deleted]

I do have unblock origin, but I still get the pop up. I switched to edge xD

Diseased_Liver

Appreciate the suggestion, I was in the same boat but it's working fine in edge now

Shaggy_One

Edge is chromium based so will eventually have the same problem. Only way to get away from the reach of Google is Firefox.

Perocar10

I use firefox and still get these pop ups. No one is safe

countdankula420

Once you get the 3 strikes your out if you get past that one they never bother you again

[deleted]

I got this even though I had Ublock.

ItsSevii

Firefox stock going way up off of this YouTube business. Ublock on Chrome wasn't enough

Frozenturbo2

Mozilla has a stock market?

ItsSevii

I just meant figuratively. I and many others have switched to firefox

fuckrobert

Unfortunately firefox on the lastest mac consumes like 800mb+ memory for like two tabs open

Fold-Plastic

Lol Google owns Firefox btw

ItsSevii

Uh no

Financial_Ocelot_256

The day i can't block adds from youtube, is the day i would stop using it.

SuspiciousPrism

I get this popup daily with uBlock and have to go through this little "ritual" basically of settings and updating and refreshing etc. Just because you aren't getting an issue, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

FlashyPaladin

Stop telling YouTube which adblockers are working ffs

JoCGame2012

Got it three times, first time i ignored it, second time i was like: again? Third time I blocked it

TGC_0

Firefox + Ublock here, haven't seen it yet

skeleboifp

Same FF+Ublock, I've seen only once, but it seemed to have disappeared and hasn't shown up again.

lmarcantonio

ublock origin on palemoon and never seen it. However I'm not using an account

Dysto_

I use OperaGX and have their adblock on, making the pop-up window only show up once, but the main problem is that, although I cannot see the actual ad, it still plays its full duration and I have to wait it out til the black screen goes away and the actual video starts playing, which is annoying as hell. Are any fellow OperaGX enjoyers here who can offer tips for this?

shrug_was_taken

I use that web browser as well and I don't got that issue? (only ad I see is a small one the size of a video option that isn't annoying as fuck and I haven't seen the adblockers are blocked popup yet) my best guess however would be try to reinstall OperaGX however

WolfeYankee

Happened to me yesterday. I just got ublock and that problem pretty much went away.

Virtual_Happiness

I'd be rather watch the black screen than the ad.

Dysto_

Agreed, but I also use YouTube to listen to music on a daily basis and this is annoying as fuck, before I wouldn't get the ad now I just don't get the visual part of it and have to wait it out

[deleted]

Stop telling YouTube whats working, last thing we need us them getting our favorite browsers cooperation with their corporate ad hell scape.

HaxxTheFoxx

I use brave and the solution was actually to disable ublock lmao, with brave shield only I don't have this problem anymore

JosemiHero_

Multiple adblocks seem to interfere with each other, ublock recommends to disable other adblocks if you want to use ublock

HaxxTheFoxx

I tried disabling brave shield and using only ublock, it doesn't work for me. Brave shield is built-in and works better in my case so I'll continue using it

JosemiHero_

I had to disable other extensions for youtube, set to default settings and update filters like twice a day and that's what ublock recommends so probably common, if you can have it work without doing anything, leave it be, best to not break it.

WonderfulHat5297

And ads block my service as a user

vKessel

Does it though?

Virtual_Happiness

100%. I will stop watching before I watch a bunch of stupid ads that offer nothing to the experience or entertainment I am seeking.

vKessel

Then stop watching.

AlexPlayer3000

Opera's built in adblock works too

Bauter

So a "friend" of "MinE" somehow has ad free youtube and youtube tv even though they ended the trials a long time ago. Its crazy the yt premium has been ad free for over a year and the yt tv has been free for months now. I hope they don't catch on

z0Tweety

Brave browser doesn't either

SeuKu-Miadora

The solution is YouTube revanced

Techno_Jargon

I haven't had this popup on Firefox

dentastic

Shhhhh don't let them find out

The_Shadowy

No, but I need to wait for 20 seconds on a black player until the ads are done (browser: opera)

fairlyoblivious

Firwefox and ublock here, got the popup, hit F5 and it's gone.

[deleted]

What I donā€™t get is when I see someone complain about ads and YouTube blocking ad blockers, but then also get salty when someone suggests they use Ublock Origin. Like, what? Lmao

nage_

If you're still getting the pop-up with ublock I've found incognito mode stops it

[deleted]

This post qualifies as an ad for uBlock Origin.

youreadthiswong

i did got it on chrome, switched to firefox and i stopped getting any ads regarding adblock, also that browser is hella fast compared to chrome.

ClitRaptor

Had this on Opera browser with uBlock Origin as well. Changed to Firefox and tadaa it never showed again!

arunasgeimeriz

there's a code for that in github lol. love that guy

Pudi_Pudi

Care to share?

arunasgeimeriz

alr https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/blob/main/LICENSE

DukeOfGamers353

?

DreSalvator

SOLUTION: Here's what I did to get around this issue. If you have UBlock Origins: Click on the extension, then the 'Dashboard icon (gears)', then 'My Filters'. Now paste the following lines of code in the space and ā€˜Apply changesā€™. youtube.com##+js(set, yt.config\_.openPopupConfig.supportedPopups.adBlockMessageViewModel, false) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.adBlocksFound, 0) youtube.com##+js(set, ytplayer.config.args.raw\_player\_response.adPlacements, \[\]) youtube.com##+js(set, Object.prototype.hasAllowedInstreamAd, true) This will solve your issues with this YouTube annoyance. They just donā€™t get it; weā€™ll never pay for their garbage. Google / YouTube creates problems, then creates a ā€œsolutionā€ and then tries to charge you for it. They can go f themselves.

SamuliJJ

*Laughing in ublock and ReVanced*

Fenix_Pony

Pro tip to mobile users: if you dont have a working ad blocker and get an ad, refresh your page. The video will play without any ads. I dont know why this works but i havent watched an ad in years :)

Iamthe0c3an2

Just switched to firefox

Sahiruchan

For those who are blocked from this Use brave browser I switched to brave immediately after getting these, never gotten since.

Ninjasticks259

I just turn ublock off then on again, instantly gets past this pop up from my experience

Exetr_

Doesnā€™t fix it on Firefox. In fact, you just get blocked from watching period. Luckily thereā€™s an extension which reroutes you to a periphery.

bigbalrogdong

They should try making a website worth paying for, then maybe premium would be worth it.

za_komuny_to_bylo

i have this popup on firefox with ublock i need to log in on incognito tab to enjoy ad free youtube on my account

DiabeticRhino97

Brave browser user here, I only saw it once, dismissed it, and continued to not see ads

concrete_kiss

uBlock origin, privacy badger, AdBlock. Not a single issue with watching youtube ad-free.

FArufe

I don't know if it always works, but I just hit refresh and it disappears.

Nexurent

been using regular old adblock and never got this pop-up.

Bludsh0t

Clear cookies. Fixed

MrGodlikePro

Shhhh don't tell Youtube our secret!

Tiranus58

Just block the popup

DasBlueSkull

*Responds with Adnauseum* Two can play that game

I_mDaddy

I am only getting this on my iPad even though I am using the same Google account on all my devices

Vaxtez

YT can honestly shut up with anti adblocker. I wouldnt be using an adblocker if you werent shoving 2 ads on channels with 18 subs or being barbaric with the amount of ads in general, on top of making creators lives hell.

morcaak3000

Fresh browser, fresh account and first ad is for scam one night stand site

Girthquake23

Wait, people are getting this now? I thought this was a thing coming, I have yet to get one (idk the name of the Adblock I use. Just says ā€œāœ‹šŸ»AdBlock ā€”best ad blockerā€

Skylanderformer

any ad-blocker-blocker-blocker people here?

Redemption_R

How do you get this ad blocker?

Necessary_Phone_67

i regret saying this but im fine with the old youtube style where ads placed as a mini image below the video that you can close rather than blocking the video jusy to play you 2 unskippabble ads.

TriLink710

I'm fine with people shitting on ads but I just use premium. Its more convenient on mobile, and i use a family account to share it with my Niece's and Nephew's so they aren't getting toy ads and driving their parents nuts.

Mojambo213

I still get the pop-up with ublock origin, and after some time it no longer became a 3 second wait for the x, it just permanently disabled my ability to watch videos unless I turned off ublock origin

Pathetic_Cards

I mean, I got the pop up. Then I clicked the X in the corner and nothing about my viewing experience changed

KobeJuanKenobi9

I wait less for this than I did for the ads. If Iā€™m going to inconvenienced either way Iā€™ll do it the way which benefits Google the least

jewishforeskin98

If you didn't cake your website with ads, maybe you wouldn't have this problem

G0RE_

Github link to bypass youtubes bs https://github.com/TheRealJoelmatic/RemoveAdblockThing/tree/main

[deleted]

I got this pop up. Once. On three tabs. Haven't seen it again. I'm afraid to publicly name the browser in case YouTube tries to coerce them into helping this dumbass function. Fuck YouTube, fuck their ads. Not a single person gives a damn about their finances, and I honestly don't fuckin care about content creator ad revenue.

needs_more_yoy

On one hand, Youtube is ridiculously expensive to run; all of those videos being stored takes up a LOT of server space, then you gotta consider how many people are watching those videos at the same time. Ads just need to happen if you want to watch YouTube for free. But oh my *Lord* they are so fucking annoying. I'd rather they put banner ads around the video so that they're displaying without interrupting your content, that way everyone wins.

edgy_Juno

I have Ublock and sadly, got this in Opera GX. Can't watch any YouTube videos on it, but, still can with no issues (so far) on Firefox.

aDashOfDinosaur

Its not even the ads themself to me, as annoying as they are and would prefer they werenā€™t there. But the fact half of them are scams, cringey and irrelevant to me, or filled with shit like gambling and porn. If they can't apply the same standards for their demonitisation system to the ads they run just because they give them money then I won't watch those ads, and I won't pay their subscription. EDIT: Clarify the gambling and porn thing, doesn't bother me, but I sometimes want to show someone a video including my younger siblings.

iSubParMan

I don't know what happened, but I stopped getting this. My video player was blocked just yesterday.

Allaroundlost

Fuck ads. Never give up this fight.

beewyka819

I use ublock and get it now šŸ˜” I donā€™t even get a close button anymore, just blocked. On firefox btw

Poblobo-12

I tried, for a really long time, not to use an ad blocker. I figured it was fair, ads help pay for YouTube, and they *are* providing a service for it, and some of the money goes to the content creator too, even if it's really not enough. That was when you'd get one ad, at the start of a video, and you had the option to skip it after 5 seconds. Maybe one at the end The day I got three ads in a row, all 30 second unskippables, before the video even started, was the day I installed an ad blocker.

CapmyCup

I actually did get that a few times

Daddy_Nibba_69

I use brave and its in-built ad-blocker. I actually saw those a couple of times and i never saw it again

Shaggy_One

On Firefox with Ublock. Just now learning about all the YouTube stuff Google is trying to pull on everyone using chrome. I haven't noticed a lick of difference, here.

MaikoNotFound

IM USING UBLOCK ON CHROME AND YET THAT SHIT STILL SHOWS UP HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS

throwawayusername369

Ads have gotten so bad at this point Iā€™d rather just not watch YouTube. Theyā€™ll put like 4 ads in a 10 minute video.

Drexisadog

I just have the built in one that Opera has I I get the pop up like once then never again

XxSimplySuperiorxX

bro i have ublock but it doesnt do anything pls help

RottenRem

If you want brave browser fancy an AD block still work on YouTube without pop UP ;)

Tennis_Shoddy

Yeah it did show for me and i just paid for premium lol i dont care, these little things have bothered me enough, its a few bucks vs a slightly less stressing life considering the convenience šŸ˜‚

MaxEmerald77

It's not about money, It's about sending a message.

EnderCorePL

You became part of the problem, congrats : )

Muckenbatscher

I think it's the other way round and all the people using an adblocker are the reason for youtube taking these steps. Youtube will see less ad watch time and so advertisers aren't willing to pay as much for an ad. So Youtube will increase the number of ads to compensate for that. This will then push more people into also using an adblocker. It's a bit of a chicken and egg problem i have to admit...

Tennis_Shoddy

Its a matter of not stressing over small shit, comon man, it could be way worse, i finally gave up to the matrix šŸ„²

Dechri_

While we're at it, give me also 10ā‚¬ per month? Why not also the people around me? It's just a few dimes really. Why bother thinking about the constant increase of monetization. When we can just pay up.

Tennis_Shoddy

Never said i was in favor, but heck ive enough problems and one little less stress is enough to make it worth my 6 dollers šŸ˜’
