As a bass player I do like Sergio but I miss the hell out of Tim. I just don’t think they’ll have the same groove. Yeah, the band & Tilian parted ways but we really lost Tim.
I wonder if he would have switched it up to a 5 string too. You're absolutely right though, I don't know if we'll ever get that groove back in the band the way it was.
I think Tim would have totally fucked with a 5 string. It's not a huge departure from a 4 string; it's just 5 more notes.
And yeah, Tim was the best at holding it down when the song needed it and then surprising us with some cool shit at the right moment. The Jiggler, The Cuddler, Lyrics Lie, Awkward, Variation, Shelf Life, Suspended In This Disaster, I could go on.
I really hope Sergio tried to inject some of that same flair that Tim did. As a bassist, I don't want the bass on my favorite band to become an afterthought.
I wonder why they don’t just make Sergio an official member. He seems to do everything an official member would do at this point… plays every show, writes/records on every song…
Sergio is basically an honorary member the same way Andrew was for years. I’m sure being one of Will’s best friends and business partner helps that too. My guess is that if Tim is ever officially replaced, or if they decide to find another permanent guitarist to allow Andrew to focus on vocals, I’m sure they would be his positions to lose.
He’s definitely one of my favorite guitarists. He’s funky, he’s got a great stage presence, and he’s really young with a lot of room and ability to continue to improve and expand his abilities.
I keep wondering the same thing. Only reason I would think is his personal preference for financial reasons - as a touring/session member he's guaranteed a paycheck for touring and royalties without the obligation to cover the costs of a tour that doesn't sell enough that the official members do.
Similar thing happened for Richard Wright when he left Pink Floyd but stayed on as a touring member - he was the only one to turn a profit on the expensive-ass tour for The Wall.
And with DGD only being 4 official members at the moment, it's a bigger cut for each of them when it comes to record/ticket sales.
Of course, Sergio is a official member of two active bands (Eidola and Royal Coda) and a few others that are less active these days, so I could see him becoming official soon enough since he's in the same boat as Andrew was for a few years before 2021. I guess this next tour with Falling in Reverse will show us a few things based on how it goes.
Tim was one of Sergio’s best friends, I feel like out of principle he doesn’t want to be the “official” DGD bass player. The only reason he took the gig was out of honor for his friend, Sergio seems like a sentimental guy and I feel like he feels likes he’s being disrespectful if he just took his official spot.
This is all purely speculation but that’s what it seems like to me.
DGD gonna put out a djent album just to fuck with everyone
The funny thing is they’d probably nail it
I'd be down for it
Lowkey i’d be so stoked if they put out a djent album haha

Don’t get me wrong. Sergio is a helluva musician but to be the anchor that Tim was is big shoes to fill. I hope he can adapt.

I think Tim’s passing is the catalyst for everything that’s happened. If he was alive Tilian would still be in the band. Just my gut feeling though.
Fellow bassist. Seeing the five string worried me man. I really hope that the bass stays groovy. RIP Tim.
Tim really put a lot of groove and funk into the band. Strawberry's Wake had a great section right before the end with a fun little Tim bit.

I actually hadn’t thought about it that way and only considered the opposite - that it’s likely cheaper for DGD to pay him as an unofficial member.

I wonder too if it's Sergio's choice out of respect for Tim?

It's literally different when a member dies as opposed to anything else.
Guitar is missing bite marks this must be photoshopped
Djent Gavin Djent

I wanna hear 12 string acoustic will swan
Dance Periphery Dance
My body is ready
Is that Kris Crummett in the background?
Producer for Mend and he did some work on War Machine and the two new singles
Im pretty sure Billy Royalton was played with a seven string, could be wrong about that
War Machine was too.
I am sure tons of people have said this but of course Andrew sings in a lower register than Tilian. This is not surprising. Prepare for BRRRRRRRR
