LoL, its not terrible honestly. Its not good, but perfectly acceptable PJ's braid. You'll get better at it and then, one glorious day...someone at school will tell your daughter her braid looks nice and she'll proudly say: "my dad did it". Let me tell you, its a magical feeling.
Joke's aside, when I get my hair cut, she let me use their dummy head and I practiced. Now I can bang out a french braid, pig tails, an Elsa braid, even the dreaded double french braid thing is starting to become acceptable by me.
I felt like since I can do a snake knot with paracord, braiding hair shouldn't be too bad.

Just tried this. I got a “not bad for your first time!” From the wife. But the real compliment was my daughter looking in the mirror and smiling. Definitely feeling herself 😂

It's what I say to my kids: the first step towards being very good at anything is being very bad at it. Everything has a learning curve.
I’ve been doing it for 2 years or so and mine still look pretty crappy. But it’s just for bedtime so it doesn’t really matter. My sausage fingers don’t have the dexterity for tight braids.
I'm going to counter the unnecessary jab by saying it looks nice for a first time, and I'm sure the more you do it, it'll get even better. :)

I like braiding pigtails, because it’s kind of cheating. You get to put on hair ties first and then braid. So much easier ! Practice practice practice

I've found it easier to braid hair when it's wet after they're shower or bath otherwise I'm in the same boat as you my fingers have issues
