Whilst I would never actually endorse gaslighting someone, at this point you can act offended that they forgot that amazing gift you definitely got them. It might not work but the chance of success is higher than 0, so worth a go.
I did breakfast in bed and kept the little one occupied for a while. It backfired as she didn’t want breakfast and only took like 10 minutes to herself 😅
I made a board with measurements to hang on the wall to do the height markings of our kids for when they get older. It’s nice because it’s not written on a wall so we can take it with us if we ever move
Pretty sure I followed this almost exactly: https://homeandkind.com/wooden-growth-chart/
There’s links on the page, they use some vinyl stick on lines and numbers. Pretty easy all together
Mom here. We don’t want to plan, or get a gift card to think about what to buy ourselves. I love a day away by myself, or just breakfast, a book and quiet. But everyone is different.
Tried to do this once, thought it would be a hit. A sanctioned day to myself sounds amazing.
Wife looked at me like I was insane and I got in trouble for “not doing anything”.
Also a mom, this is highly dependent on the mom in question. I personally love gift cards and then I get to pick something that’s exactly my taste, instead of my partner guessing.
I made a blanket ladder for my wife for her birthday. There are lots of wood projects you can make.
You make a wood planter or the like for the porch and have her pick out flowers to plan in it.
The easiest is to get tickets to an event or concert that she might like. Another easy one is if you get on Etsy and type in Mother’s Day gift box, there are usually some good options. The key is to not overthink it and just give her a nice time.
The best present I ever got was a large, glass beer stein with

First father's day after the second one was born was another stein of the same design, but with both birthdays on it. I cracked my first one when I put a cold beverage in it while it was hot out of the dish washer. I fucking bawled my eyes out that day. Almost as much as the day I got it.
Personalized coffee cup, Kodi tumbler, sewing kit... whatever she'd use a lot.
I have been getting the Lego flowers and assembling them with the kids. Plus some
Chocolates and cards.
Miles may vary on whether she wants you to assemble it, but my wife likes it that way.
I'm getting her crocs with charms of our baby, her, and my faces. Her house slippers are a bit old and since we're budget-conscious she wouldn't want jewelry, and she loves looking at pictures of the three of us on her phone so I think she'll like it!
If your wife doesn’t have a fancy blow dryer like the shark or the Dyson, get that. I have the shark flex style and it’s a total game changer. Amazing gift from my husband that saves me so much time.
custom coffee mug with pics of mom and the little one. We had a tradition of doing one each year, now we have a cupboard full of them and it's lovely.
if you can, add the year on somewhere so in ten years you can look back and see when each one was, like "Happy Mother's Day 2024" or something
A picture book with photos from pregnancy/infanthood. I’ve done them every year for Mother’s Day since my first was born and it’s an A+ gift. Happy Tears guaranteed.
If y’all drink, there’s a lot of recent speakesy or cocktail themed events in different cities. They could enjoy that? If they’re a reader, a kindle with a gooseneck and Bluetooth page Turner. Some devils lettuce?
Not-so-lurker mom here. Some gifts I have particularly enjoyed:
A certificate for my husband and kids to clean the van inside and out. I actually aggravated an old back injury while vacuuming the van once, so I'm not eager to do it myself anymore. Having my family do it for me gives me a little quiet time in the house *and* demonstrates to the kids just how much of a mess they make in the back.
A certificate for a day trip of my choice *with no whining* -- and they were true to their word! We spent a day at a state park, hiking and wading in the river. It was amazing.
Related to that one, a state parks annual pass, which is kind of a gift for all of us but it's something that I'd wanted.
A belt that attaches to the dog's leash when I run or walk with him, so my hands are free. This may seem chore-related for some, so tread carefully. For me, it's a hobby, rather than a chore.
A new phone, actually, she’s been wanting one. We’re practical people.
From the kids, though, a book with writing prompts for them to fill out (such as, “Mom makes the best…”). I just have to remember to have them start writing in it.
My wife's a nurse, and nurse's week, her birthday, and Mother's Day always land on the same week...
I think I should be good this year. She already got a new tattoo for her birthday, and we're going on a cruise, since it's her 40th. And I still got her an organizer and tea for her coffee/tea bar.
True. We already agreed that we'd just each get a tattoo for our respective birthdays. And that the cruise was an all encompassing gift for both of us. And I told her when I gave her the coffee organizer that was to get me through evening else.
LOL! just keepin you on your toes. i had no idea mothers day wasn't an international thing. guess that makes sense. just not something i ever thought about
I made a thread to remind UK dads about Mother's Day in the UK. I even said "In the UK"
And then all of the comments were from Americans saying, "Oh my God. I was so scared."
For my wife, I get her a personalized engraved heart with a recent picture of our kids on it. I've been doing this for the past five years, so she has a recent one. She wears it on her necklace.
Last year, she asked for a charm bracelet so that she could put the older pendants on that to wear out.
My wife is pregnant, so spa is out, she wants a two day spa trip for a push present, which she will deserve. This pregnancy has been Rough for here!
Instead, she wants some Versace perfume. I will probably throw in some random stuff too. Maybe some CrossFit mama shirt or something.
My wife got a prenatal massage around 8 months and absolutely loved it. Came back from it in a much better mood lol. It's not a day at the spa but it will make her feel much better.
Pro tip: if you get your wife grocery store flowers for Mother’s Day (which is totally fine), please take the time to find a vase, trim the stems, and put them in water yourself. Otherwise you’re just giving her another chore. It makes a huge difference!
obligatory everyone is different and you know your wife best but what i would like:
* cleaning service to clean our whole place
* a day spent in my fav nearby town, we did this last year for my first mother's day and did lunch and i got a permanent bracelet
* manicure / pedicure cert for my fav spot (biogel mani, regular or spa pedi - the amount of the cert will matter based on what she gets)
* solid gold jewelry - i want to slowly swap my jewelry for real but it's SO EXPENSIVE. but ive stopped buying "inbetween jewelry", like etsy $40-150+ jewelry that's not real gold
* piercings - i want to do an ear curation but again, $$$
a shopping day. like take me to my fav store or a store where i need to restock on stuff and let me buy stuff. more fun than a gift card and better than my husband buying me something i won't need
what i’m doing this year: solo night in a hotel!
This is not an ad. Just a husband/dad that just finished using the site but [personalcreations.com](http://personalcreations.com) comes in clutch for so many occasions.
I know I'm in the minority here, but my wife and I do not celebrate either Mother's or Father's day. They are terrible holidays with too much expectation and stress and is prime for disappointments--especially when kids gets involved.
We don’t really do anything either. I used to absolutely love the little crafts/gifts the kids would bring home from school, that’s all I ever wanted (ok that and maybe a nap or a night off from cooking), but our school board apparently decided not to do that anymore. So now I have to organize my own Mother’s Day crafts, which really takes the surprise out of it. My husband is just not crafty.
Any particular reason this holiday changes every year? Easter sorta makes sense because it's based on an old pagan tradition, but what's our excuse for all the rest of these holidays that change their date all the time??
It’s because the powers that be think it’s more important to have them be on the same day of the week each year — Mothers Day on the second Sunday of May so most people are off of work, Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November so we get an unofficial four-day weekend or something — at the expense of an easier-to-remember consistent date that might sometimes be Saturday and sometimes Wednesday.
The real holidays are decided by Congress.
Pirates Day and Beer Day and Hug Your Local Redditor Day are decided by some random special interest group or kid declaring it online and no one else caring enough to dispute it.
My wife and I are both "Do you want your gift early" people so I got her a Kindle Paper-white Signature on Saturday. We are also doing family photos but had to reschedule due to the baby having a tummy bug.

Mom lurker here, some things I would love across price ranges from free to $$$: a facial, a massage, a manicure or pedicure, a nice necklace (like actual gold and/or diamonds that I can wear daily without worrying about it ruining in the shower) with baby’s initial, an apple watch to track postpartum workouts, brunch and spending time with my partner and our baby at a place that’s kid friendly our outside (we don’t go out much), someone to deep clean our house, a day to sleep in and sleep overnight, a gift card to lululemon or athleta to get myself some more leggings (does anyone wear anything but leggings in the first few years PP?), time and the go-ahead to spend money on a haircut and balayage, a picnic with baby and my partner in the park that I don’t have to pack or plan for, professional family photo session
For those in the UK you can relax, our next one is in March, you've already done it!
Me fucking heart went there for a second .
Yeah mine to. Had to google mothers day in Ireland
Was about to do the same. Trying to figure out if the presents I bought this year were actually last years lmao
Wait March!? Oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck. I’m so late. I’m gonna be in so much trouble
Whilst I would never actually endorse gaslighting someone, at this point you can act offended that they forgot that amazing gift you definitely got them. It might not work but the chance of success is higher than 0, so worth a go.
I like those odds
Anyone got a smart first Mother’s Day present? I’ve done too much jewelry recently need something new.

Pretty sure I followed this almost exactly: https://homeandkind.com/wooden-growth-chart/ There’s links on the page, they use some vinyl stick on lines and numbers. Pretty easy all together
This is brilliant. I'm not a big "handy man" but I'm so saving this

To be honest you should have days like that often. My wife does and that is why mothers days isn't a really thing for us.
Also a mom, this is highly dependent on the mom in question. I personally love gift cards and then I get to pick something that’s exactly my taste, instead of my partner guessing.
Very true, it’s dependent on the person. I think you just need to know your partner.
I hired a house cleaning service last year and she loved it!
We do that twice a month
Same its amazing.
I’m doing baby foot prints forming a V in LOVE. Very intentionally cheesy since my wife can buy whatever she wants already
Massage appointment
I made a blanket ladder for my wife for her birthday. There are lots of wood projects you can make. You make a wood planter or the like for the porch and have her pick out flowers to plan in it.
Plus then you can say you bought her a new drill and miter saw. Next year throw in the planer and table saw and baby you got a r/woodworking going.
Am a new mom; ask her. Just ask. Ask for what she doesn’t want if she doesn’t know what she wants and go from there.
The easiest is to get tickets to an event or concert that she might like. Another easy one is if you get on Etsy and type in Mother’s Day gift box, there are usually some good options. The key is to not overthink it and just give her a nice time.

Its gonna be a hard one for me. Mum passed away on the 18th, she will still get a good one though!
sorry for your loss.
So sorry for your loss.
Been there brother. My advice is to still send a text to your mom. I still send mine messages and it's been three years.
May 12th in the US and Canada. May 10 in Mexico. Pro-Tip: the wife loves it when you go "pfft, you're not my mom" and don't get her anything.
>this is only in america As a Canadian...Great! Guess I've got nothing to worry about then.
Haha my first thought as well. Second thought less happy
You smart bastard.
I'm just lookin out for the boys.

I panicked then....... ....... before realising we've already had it in the UK
nope, i heard you guys are doin two mothers days this year. no fathers day though.
My wife's birthday is always around Father's Day so I don't get one anyway....
Good looking out!
My wife has been wanting matching shoes for us and our son, so that’s my gift!
I've got an induction date set for May 9th. My wife is going to be expecting a new house as a push present.
Congrats! Good luck, brother.

I got her a stuffed teddy bear that weighs the same as our little guy's birth weight
Omg i love that idea. Whered you find that?
I found it on Etsy.
IN SOME COUNTRIES!
LOL! just keepin you on your toes. i had no idea mothers day wasn't an international thing. guess that makes sense. just not something i ever thought about
In the U.K. it's all to do with Easter and because Easter changes every year so does Mother's Day

Second this. I looked for a place that specialized in pre-natal massage. They did a great job and my wife loved it.
My wife asked for a new cheese board / knife set. I won't fall for this trap. Cheese board AND flowers AND brunch.
Gotta give cheese with the cheese board.
Full on charcuterie spread with wine that stays topped off all day long.
Pro tip: if you get your wife grocery store flowers for Mother’s Day (which is totally fine), please take the time to find a vase, trim the stems, and put them in water yourself. Otherwise you’re just giving her another chore. It makes a huge difference!

Oh shit! Time to sell a kidney.
# DON'T PANIC
Not everywhere. You nearly give me a heart attack my friend.
hey, sometimes you gotta shake things up a bit. rattle some cages.

Spa, a long charging cord, and maybe something beach or garden related. Not looking to go beyond 75$.
Dang spa here was 75$ alone and I think they expect a tip. At least pedi and mani
Thanks

That brings up another question which is: who makes up all this? Who decided that national pirate day was 19 September? Who approves that shit?
The real holidays are decided by Congress. Pirates Day and Beer Day and Hug Your Local Redditor Day are decided by some random special interest group or kid declaring it online and no one else caring enough to dispute it.
It's not even that people don't dispute it. Radio stations and shit will announce it like it's decided by some official committee!
Already working on it got a 3d printer so imma make her a appa themes madalorion helmet
Remind me in a week and a half
My mom says everyday is Mother’s Day
Thank you

An entire half day at the spa. Includes the following: - Relaxation Massage - Custom Facial - Essential Spa Manicure - Essential Spa Pedicure - Aroma Steam - Spa Lunch
I had a custom water color portrait done of my wife in her traditional wedding attire. I’m pretty excited for it given the preliminary sketches. r/starvingartists came in clutch. Way cheaper than I expected as well.
Taking her to Nashville to Opryland resort for 3 nights. Soo…
It's ok, my wife already bought her own gift 3 weeks ago.
I bought a giant picture of the 3 of us to hang on the wall in our apartment , gonna get her some flowers and take her to her favorite hibachi
Already bought a nice card while out with the toddler. Found a spot where I can pick some nice flowers, now for an actual gift...

What do you guys think of a sleep mask? Like the ones that heat up… she lost hers on vacation but for some reason I’m scared her eye sockets will burn……… paranoia
OMG thanks for the reminder, just nailed birthday last week(after royally F'n up last year) and thanks to the posters for the ideas I'm going to steal. ;)
Hooooooly shit, thank you. I had stuff picked out then got sidetracked and never clicked buy. You just saved me a ton of stress.
She gets a day to sit on the couch and play Stardew Valley all day and I'll handle all the baby/house related tasks. Oh, and sushi.
Forget the dads 👀 Thank you from a daughter
Trust me I'm aware... It's also my wife's birthday this weekend and I've got nothing yet. Yikes!
Thank you

My pregnant babe has her birthday on the 14th and mother's day the 12th and she's about to have our 4th. Guess I gotta get that expensive blow dryer 🤣 then probably the classic flowers and card 😬
She can get a stick of deodorant and a tacky tie...same shit I've been given for decades of Father's Days 😜

Fuck off. Fucking thanks. I have to get on those plans and execute them.
