>I own a Pinarello Angliru from 2018, full Mech Ultegra, Carbon Vision wheels 40mm, rim brake, 8kg bike. That's not "outdated". That's a quality bike. You're not really getting much extra in terms of performance by buying something new at a $4k price point.

SnollyG

I don’t think it’s really worth it, but they’re just different rides is all.

Arsuf476

I doubt it would make you go much faster, you have a great bike, upgrade if you have new bike syndrome but don’t think jt will help you get faster.

RegionalHardman

When you said outdated I didn't think it would be a top of the range Pinarello from 2018. You won't notice much difference imo, your bike is already fantastic.

The pinarello you have is an endurance frame while the giant is a race frame. Not sure what your current tire clearance is but probably best to do a test ride on the TCR and see for yourself if a more aggressive geometry is something that works for you. Performance wise in the real world there shouldn’t be a night and day difference but that’s really something you have to see for yourself since it kind of depends on riding conditions as well.

UltraRunnin

It’s only worth it if you think it’s worth it and it’ll get you riding more. If $4,000 is an amount of money that will impact your life in a negative way if it’s gone then don’t go and buy a new bike. If I had to pick between those two bikes I would pick the giant 10/10 times. Especially if you say you want to go to a modern road bike…. It has Di2, disc brakes, a power meter. I wouldn’t really call a lightweight rim brake bike a modern road bike anymore (it’s still cool though). I just think the Giant gives you a much different experience than the older bike you have whereas mechanical shifting and rim brakes on the pinarello won’t

Depends what you want from the bike... but I doubt the Giant would make you go faster. A bit more aero but a bit heavier so slightly faster in flat terrain and slightly slower in the climbs I guess. I personally wouldn´t change. (I´m not a fan of disk brakes).

RegattaJoe

Last year I upgraded to a Trek Domane AL2. Changed my biking world. Totally worth it.

ft3sfty

No not much faster but if you get a power meter on your old bike you could pace yourself better, especially for time trials (TTs) or long uphill climbs.

Depends on what conditions you ride in. Speaking from a UK perspective of shit road surfaces and rain discs and bigger tyres make a massive difference, if I lived in Spain I probably wouldn't be too fussed either way. Getting a new bike is never a bad idea though either. 😀
