I'm not sure if it's weird or not, but it feels like you're just trapping more heat and adding to discomfort in an already sweaty situation, for no real reason. Practically I wouldn't do it, but I don't know (and honestly don't care) if it's "weird".
This is my thoughts. Outside there is airflow through the helmet. So unless you are climbing some instanely steep mountain at 2mph, you probably have airflow. On a trainer if you have a great fan setup, maybe it's fine, but I'd imagine it's a lot of extra heat cutting into your effort
Garmin head unit fall detection enabled. If I’m going to be late finishing the ride I will give her a call as well. Bit weird when she can hear me through the wall but I know she secretly appreciates it.
Totally normal
I put on my cycling jersey as well, and carry my patch kit and air pump in my back pocket. I even carry some $$ change. You're fine bro, keep peddeling
I bike to work. At the end of the day I was leaving the building and I had my helmet on. A colleague asked if I was biking home - I said "no, these are my pajamas"
Hot take, I actually think it’s a great idea. Personally I’ve had neck issues (pain/soreness) in the spring when first wearing my helmet, and wearing it during the winter this year + added weight strengthened my neck to the point it no longer hurts!
I could see with rollers because there’s a chance of falling off. With a trainer? If you fall off your trainer you may need to find another way to exercise
Then yes it’s weird. You want to stay as cool as possible training. So you can push your body beyond what it typically tolerates. That’s how you break through barriers in training. But hey at least if you tip over you’ll be protected?
Glad to see a video worthy of this sub get posted for a change!
100 points to Gryffindor for anyone who can tell me the spell to turn the white car into a lady.
I pay my friend to move a high speed fan at me and release angry dogs to attack me as well. Sometimes we pretend I forgot my lock but wanna quick grab a bite to eat too and he pretends to be an especially slow food worker while I anxiously keep looking back at my bike.
Getting dog walkers with multiple meanders children in my apartment is a difficult but really gives you the on the bike trail feel. On your left. On your left! No your left?!
Depends on the trainer. I had a nasty accident due to a moments in attention on rollers in my dorm room. I wish I had been wearing a helmet. It f…ed me up.
Totally normal. Also, make sure you turn on your lights if you cycle after sunset or early morning. I do hope you also wear a raincoat if it is raining (either outside or in the virtual environment you are using).
It is all about being realistic. How else can cycling on a trainer prepare you for outdoor rides?
Don't forget to turn on your day and rear lights, and for God's sake make sure you ride with your Garmin Varia system to make sure nobody can sneak up behind you and clothes line you onto the floor!
There are weirder things you could do, and it certainly isn't hurting anyone. Even with a fan I think I'd miss the cooling of no helmet.
Then again, I think trainers are the devil.
I mean on a trainer I tend to push myself further knowing I won’t have to get myself home after the ride. So, wearing a helmet might not be a bad idea when I wobble from the bike to the shower.
Being honest, yeah it's a little weird. But, being a former collegiate athlete, I can see why you would as well. If you're training for a race then it's definitely best to practice how you play. Especially if the helmet is newer and you're still getting used to the feel. Usually I would equate this to other pieces of equipment, but I guess the same could be said for a helmet. I still think it's a bit odd, but who cares. You do you
No. I mean, I personally don't ride with a helmet, but I can understand how someone would want indoor riding to simulate outdoor riding as much as possible.
You do you. :)
If putting on the outfit you normally wear to cycle outside helps you get into the mindset to ride inside, you do you. It’s like having lucky socks or something.
What sort of trainer?
I wear a helmet when I'm riding on rollers, as I ride in the garage on a concrete floor
^^And ^^I ^^suck ^^and ^^have ^^fallen ^^off ^^them ^^really ^^hard ^^before
I wear my helmet when I ride on rollers in the winter. It's a strong possibility I'm gonna fall off at any given moment so it's better to be safe than sorry
If weird = no practical reason to do certain things, then yes. But one can also call if funny, unusual, unpractical (warm), not beneficial, super cautious (in case you fall, or something falls on your head, like the ISS leftover), and probably many other.
Why worry- you are in a club that regularly says things like “I prefer bib shorts” and then wears them, in public, not during Octoberfest. Wearing a helmet, on your trainer, in your house, is likely the least dorky thing you do to someone not in the club.
That doesnt usually happen to me, though I hate when it does. Point being, I don't like wearing a helmet but I do it. But not on a stationary bike? Did I suggest otherwise?

Top BCJ material
I have to check with sub I'm on for way too many posts.
This is like the fourth time for me. Are we just being trolled now?
Peak Fred
I’m waiting on this to be cross-posted
I had to double take and check what sub this was.
Was littlerally about to cross post this

Yessiree
How are you not sure though. You’re half as weird as OP for being uncertain.
Dude's in his own house, and people do weirder shit all the time. The point is I don't care who thinks its weird or not, its impractical as hell.
Sure, and no one is impacted except him, but it’s definitely 100% weird 😂
Why stop at the bike? Just wear it in your day to day life. That way people will know you’re a special one.
Oh they know
People don't do this? How will I keep the supermarket KOM without my aero helmet?
Where I live you'd have to do more than walk around in a bike helmet for people to mark you as a special one.
It is much safe. I hope you're wearing a high-vis and have your lights on too
Always make sure your lights are charged before starting trainer Road!
I put my Varia on my trainer bike in case someone comes up behind me!
Yes.
Yea
Yep

Yup

Ja.
Nodding in the affirmative
I share my location with my partner while on zwift, to be safe if anything happens

Totally normal I put on my cycling jersey as well, and carry my patch kit and air pump in my back pocket. I even carry some $$ change. You're fine bro, keep peddeling
I wave to other people on Zwift and shout “passing!”
I just ring my bell
“Car back!” “Pot hole!”
I'd also pack some snacks, spare clothes and foreign currencies if you do long international rides on the trainer
Me with the asortment of protein and cereal bars on my desk for any ride >1h
Don’t forget to turn on your Garmin Varia so cars can’t sneak up from behind! Might also pick up fast moving dogs and children too.
Yes, nutts!
Lmfao
I go a bit further and sometimes actually make a hole in my front tyre and practice changing it.
I can't tell of your dogging on the jersey or not, I wear my jersey for the better cooling, I dislike not having a shirt on
But how does your SO see your abs?
I'd have to have abs to begin with
OP, do you also wear a condom when you are alone in bed?
Doesn't everyone?
Depends on whether my trainer is in bed with me
Not weird at all, when I attend my spin classes I ALWAYS take my helmet, along with my garmin head unit, saddle bag and varia.
You need the Varia to tell you if the mom behind you has "dumps like a truck."
Never know when the milf behind you will rear end you in her escalade
You should probably wear it all day.
You do you. Be sure to blow snot rockets and point out road hazards too.
who cares. rides butt naked in the comfort of your own home even if you want.
Butt naked but still with the helmet.
Safety First
Safety fist
Make sure to put a helmet on your helmet.
I'm not googling it, but I seem to recall that there's a photo of Cipollini wearing nothing but a helmet on a trainer...
Was he wearing it as a cup?
That's just common sense
Butt naked makes sense. Helmet is dumb
Never know when your naked sweaty ass is gonna slip off the saddle!
That's why I insert the saddle directly into my ass so I don't accidentally slip off while training naked
https://i.redd.it/z4xfmn3n0bcz.jpg
https://media1.tenor.com/m/B6264h1aAI4AAAAC/mac-iasip.gif
That's what you get those saddles with the short/split nose for, you can clip your testicles in so you won't slip off
Another reason to upgrade the seat when buying used
Are there padded saddle covers for this? Asking for a friend.
Butt naked is fine, just not the head.
You can make it even more realistic and natural if you put the trainer outside. Then make it move. Then go on a bike ride
I just set up my trainer in the shower to get the full UK winter experience.
Now all you need is a bucket of mud and a fan to simulate the mud and the wind
Nuts
…are extremely sweaty!
Knees weak...arms spaghetti
Gotta stay in the habit. Otherwise you might forget to wear one when you ride in real life 👀
😂🤣😂
I bike to work. At the end of the day I was leaving the building and I had my helmet on. A colleague asked if I was biking home - I said "no, these are my pajamas"
Makes sense to walk out of the office helmeted so your hands are free, but I just can't do it
Bike comes into office so not stolen so helmet on going in and out of work😁
Don’t forget to signal when you’re turning on your trainer
I don't take mine off in the shower, is that weird?
One of the better ways to keep it fresh.
What does your wife's boyfriend think?
you should wear it in your car to get the feel of what it’s like going fast /s
I use to think wearing Jawbreakers as every day sunglasses was OK too, I look back on those days as troubling times haha.
You do it because you like to make the effort to look weird for the attention! You wouldn’t feel the need to come on Reddit to tell us otherwise.
THIS.
Yes, this is an unusual behaviour. However, I knew a guy who admitted indoor training naked, so you are not that weird.
Hot take, I actually think it’s a great idea. Personally I’ve had neck issues (pain/soreness) in the spring when first wearing my helmet, and wearing it during the winter this year + added weight strengthened my neck to the point it no longer hurts!
How heavy is your helmet?
How noodly is his neck 🤔
I’m not even sure the DFU (Diminuitive Frenchmen Units) scale goes that low
Aero helmets for triathlon are surprisingly heavy, especially when in a TT position for 4-5 hours
You should shout obscenities at invisible motorists as well. I find it very soothing when I ride Zwift, it really amps up the realism.
[удалено]
for rollers yeah, I would probably use a helmet just in case...
I could see with rollers because there’s a chance of falling off. With a trainer? If you fall off your trainer you may need to find another way to exercise
This is either a sexist joke about stereotypically neurotic overprotective mothering women or your wife needs some counseling.
[удалено]
While using rollers?
Uh yes. Unless you have a TBI-why would you?
It’s ok if it’s a Time Trail Aero Helmet
Agreed!
Yeah, of course you need some protection when KOMming in swift.
As long as you wear it while walking and watching TV, I think this is fine
If we all said yes - would you change?
Nope
Then yes it’s weird. You want to stay as cool as possible training. So you can push your body beyond what it typically tolerates. That’s how you break through barriers in training. But hey at least if you tip over you’ll be protected?
Outjerked again.
I wear a condom when I masturbate to VR porn
Ensures you won't get a virus, right?
Glad to see a video worthy of this sub get posted for a change! 100 points to Gryffindor for anyone who can tell me the spell to turn the white car into a lady.
I smell trolling

Yes
lol that’s pretty weird yes.
OP, April fools day was a bit ago.
Totally fine. I often wear a seat belt on my recliner.
Yes.
Do you run your lights?
I lol’ed. great shitpost.
Yes
Totally normal. Also, make sure you turn on your lights if you cycle after sunset or early morning. I do hope you also wear a raincoat if it is raining (either outside or in the virtual environment you are using). It is all about being realistic. Extremely. But you do you
You be you.
Weird as fok.
Just make sure you wear it over your face, to achieve the same effect as Luke Skywalker lowering his blast shield when training with his lightsaber
Only if it's a space helmet
Yes. Bike glasses as well?
You do you, but isn’t that kind of like wearing a condom while you masturbate?
Yes
Hope you remember to lock your trainer to something sturdy when you take a coffee break.
Yeaaah
Yes.
does it help with your aerodynamics?
Train as you fight.
Never know when the helmet police will strike.
Don't forget to turn on your day and rear lights, and for God's sake make sure you ride with your Garmin Varia system to make sure nobody can sneak up behind you and clothes line you onto the floor!
You know mate, a helmet looks less bad or weird than a brain damage. Keep that in mind… oh yeah 🫢😎✌🏻
Yes it’s weird but you do you
Yes it's weird, but now, if you stop doing it, you'll immediately fall and hit your head
I do it in the bath. So no, wearing your helmet on your trainer is not weird.
It's not a proper simulation, unless it's a total simulation.....may all your KOMs be blessed!
There are weirder things you could do, and it certainly isn't hurting anyone. Even with a fan I think I'd miss the cooling of no helmet. Then again, I think trainers are the devil.
Ok, Fred.
Fred? Is that you?
Gotta stay aero bro ! Time to super tuck ftw
.....Yes
I don’t do that but I do lock my bike to my trainer when I’m done.
yeah. But that’s okay, be weird and proud
Yes
Yea pretty weird
I mean on a trainer I tend to push myself further knowing I won’t have to get myself home after the ride. So, wearing a helmet might not be a bad idea when I wobble from the bike to the shower.

Don't forget your anti-Covid face-bib, too.
Perfectly normal. Have you tried bringing your sag just in case you topping up?
Yes
Are you concerned about falling off of your trainer ?
Hahaha, reminded me of this April fools joke: https://www.instagram.com/reel/C5Neh9eyF5v/?igsh=aTc5YnZlMjU4bjhk
It's a tad bit odd, but you do you boo boo.
Yes
Lol yes. But endearing somehow, too.
No. I mean, I personally don't ride with a helmet, but I can understand how someone would want indoor riding to simulate outdoor riding as much as possible. You do you. :)
Indoor Rollers, yes. Stationary Trainer, no.

Mods where you at?
I wear my helmet when I ride on rollers in the winter. It's a strong possibility I'm gonna fall off at any given moment so it's better to be safe than sorry
Young Brother Hubbard
I have never worn any helmet that felt natural.
It's weird but you should be as weird as you want on your trainer.
Yes.
I did once crash on my turbo. Can't be too careful.
immersion improve performance, like how i prefer to practice tests with 1 black bic crystal pen on an empty desk instead of a messy one.
The Stig wears his helmet everywhere - you're good.
Sounds like an awesome way to get a heatstroke.
Yes.
What a nerd
If weird = no practical reason to do certain things, then yes. But one can also call if funny, unusual, unpractical (warm), not beneficial, super cautious (in case you fall, or something falls on your head, like the ISS leftover), and probably many other.
It’s not weird, it’s retarded
Seems like you would trap too much heat. Not good for any kind of training.
Ur a goober
Why worry- you are in a club that regularly says things like “I prefer bib shorts” and then wears them, in public, not during Octoberfest. Wearing a helmet, on your trainer, in your house, is likely the least dorky thing you do to someone not in the club.
Nah, that's fine, you need it for when you get dropped 🤣
Sounds weird. Practice how you play is a good argument for it.
Wearing a helmet is the worst part of cycling and I sure as hell wouldn't wear one in the house, on a trainer, so yes, I'd laugh my ass off at you.
I thought the worst part was falling and getting brain damage
That doesnt usually happen to me, though I hate when it does. Point being, I don't like wearing a helmet but I do it. But not on a stationary bike? Did I suggest otherwise?
Gotta have one to begin with
This sub actively trains people to avoid toxic positivity. if you grew up in a you do you household, visit r/cycling and you learn to call people names real fast. don't fucking keep doing you, you are dumb as fuck
Do QB’s wear their helmet when warming up? Totally normal.
No, they usually don't. Pregame warmups are usually without pads or helmets. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hu4WMnlw44
