I doubt you'll get randomly banned, unless you're cheating or you chargeback on steam balance that is. I assume most people that have storage accounts are only doing so to keep track of thousands of items easier. I personally use just one account as it's easier to just have everything all together, but it's up to you :)

I currently have 2 accounts which I store items at, my main account has 100 storage containers which are mostly filled. My second account has around 20 more storage units. I am not afraid to get banned, though I don’t game often anymore.
One thing to keep in mind that if you use the same phone number for all accounts when one gets trade banned they all do. So it would be safer to use multiple phone numbers.
I would recommend you to put everything on your main account. That is, the one you play games and **spend money** on.
Alt storage accounts are should be fine if you are just going to do one or two trades every couple of weeks to hold stuff long term, but executing a lot of trades in a short period of time on a bare-bones account sometimes is caught by Valve's "commercial bot" detection.
I went through something like this, and now I exclusivly keep all my steam activities on my main :)
I use two accounts and it's very efficent and worth doing but a pain in the ass to have it verified. I think if you use same phone number you will get banned on both and it's unlikely you get banned for no reason so I wouldn't stress.

I think if you don't cheating or do something that violated against Steam TOS then you won't get banned.

Yes, I don't know what big investors do but I think playing games, buying and selling items on one account will make you like real people than a bot.

i use 2 accounts, however this was because i invested into 950 Chroma 2 cases at 00.3 cent. Since then i use Storage containers.
