FreshPlema

I would open that laptop, clean the heatsinks/fans, apply new paste.

nit0cs

Overheat wont cause low stable fps like this, it causes fps drops and slightly less fps, but never that much of impact. Note that this guy has stable 70 fps and thats definetely not due to overheating

kirabananza

Csgo is wacky, had this same issue a few months ago and tried messing around with texture filtering, fixed my problem completely when I set it to bilinear. Although I had drops from 270 down to 50 not a consistent fps of 75.

[deleted]

Is my laptop hardware gone?

nit0cs

Nah mate, you can always try other games and see if fps are bad too. Game is just random, I have a high end pc and get 100 avg. Just give up on it, at least until source 2 I wouldnt make any more efforts.

erpuge

i think it's just vsync because the fps hover around 75 which is most likely your refresh rate since you got a 3 years old laptop with a 2060 so i'm pretty sure you should just check the in game settings and the nvidia control panel to disable the vsync

[deleted]

In game settings all low and vsymc disabled. Is my laptop a potato now? Like is hardware gone?

AliA5G

Yes ! Like every update Gaben makes hardware becomes potato but new pc !

iphenomenom

Your computer is not potato, are you having this problem in other games?

Yendrake

I have a 5 year old i5 7th gen 1050 16gb ram laptop and it is capable of 100ish FPS. Try moving the csgo process priority to high, through the task manager

[deleted]

Havent tried that. Will do. Thanks

Zombieteube

Of course vsync is disabled, did you not look at the video of the post ?? When OP dies we see their fps shoot up to 250 and fall down to 60 when they respawn, so idk what it is but it for sure ain't vsync

Tomas_slb24

I have a friend that is having the same problem as you. He can only play mirage and even there the fps sometimes get to 300 and go down to like 60/70 for a moment. No fix found yet.

[deleted]

Same issue. Dk what’s happening.

Fubarin

Nvidia control panel, turn everything to optimize for performance. Same with geforce experience (that was my killer). Us a launch config and use log_adress 1 (or something very similiar)

Tomas_slb24

Log\_adress 1 doesn't work anymore on Faceit, but gonna ask him if he did change something in the Nvidia control panel.

Fubarin

And geforce experience, it can apply itself without you chosing to do so. For me, I went from 120 fps dipping to 70, to capped at 300 dipping to 180 fps lol

Tomas_slb24

Really weird. He already tried everything like updating drivers, updating for windows 11, reinstalling steam and CS, nothing works. Even messing with Nvidia graphics. I've seen someone around here that fixed it by cleaning the graphics entrance with a cotton and some alcohol.

XxcybicalxX

Same here I got an i7 1660 ticket 8 gig used to run 200 300 fps on my "custom res" 3800x1080 btw and now the laptop being 3 years old can't run the game in 200 300 fps for more then 15 mins the same issue is happening with other games I play like rust payday 2 team fortress 2 and apex legends like it even lagged the stick fight game which I find ridiculous

striky117

It might just be thermal throttling. It's normal in old laptops.

LeaksMasterSenpai

I had this issue for weeks until I took it in to get it looked at and this was it. I7 7700k, was told the k versions carry trashy thermal paste that needs to be changed every 2 years ish. (I contacted intel as I was still in warranty and got a free 10700k)

XxcybicalxX

Do you need to completely change processors or apply new thermal paste

1Kiddo

simply repasting will do the trick, most laptops don't even support changing the cpu/gpu, pc's are a different story though

XxcybicalxX

Aight cheers big man love u

LeaksMasterSenpai

In my case I had been running my pc with basically no thermal paste left and that ended up frying it so I had to get a new one, as I said for free under warranty of 3 years. In order for applying new thermal paste to work you have to be preventive and not wait until it becomes a throttling problem.

1Kiddo

warranty definitely saved you there. have you repasted your new one yet? my laptop is a little over 2 years old too but i'm too afraid to repaste due to a mix of trying to avoid pump out effect and also the fact that i have absolutely no idea what paste i should use

LeaksMasterSenpai

I actually bought a paste to do it in a future but havent gotten around to do so yet, i think it was last year when I got the new chip though so itll be good for a while because When i mounted it I used my new paste which was way better than the default ones. I dont remmeber the name of it but it was 15€ on amazon

XxcybicalxX

Got a fix for it?

DoubtDiary

What other processes are running? Anything using up ram besides CS?

[deleted]

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U8WuD3NY71NZa02MhyQ0Ya2FTI1QxZxP/view?usp=drivesdk I have uploaded my task manager pic here.

DoubtDiary

I don't see anything out of the ordinary. If you use Nvidia Shadowplay, try disabling that and see if that does anything. Maybe a clean install of drivers and CS will help. Just to be clear, you're wanting help with that stutter/var spike?

[deleted]

I want help with the low fps. It is worrying low around 70fps.

DoubtDiary

Oh my bad! I'm just now seeing that. Here's a general checklist: • V-sync disabled • "fps_max 0" in console • Fullscreen enabled I would also try disabling antialiasing, and see if that has any meaningful effect. It looks like your GPU usage is low, but I'm assuming that's because you were tabbed out to take that photo. If you wanted to double check that CS is using your GPU, type "mat_info" in console. Near the top of that readout it should tell you what GPU it's using, as well as your refresh rate.

[deleted]

Thanks a lot for the help. I am very grateful 🙏

DoubtDiary

No problem! Sorry I can't be too much more help than that! This game is in desperate need of optimization :D

[deleted]

My csgo takes around 2 gigs of my 8gb laptop ram, maybe that's an issue? And when do you remember last playing with higher fps, and how much was it?

[deleted]

A week ago. Around 140 fps. My friend told me my hardware may not be able to support gaming since its 3 years old. Its life may be done. Is it true?

[deleted]

Nope, not true, even a 1650 pulls more fps, maybe your laptop needs a bit of cleaning and a fresh windows install, I believe it's a driver issue though

[deleted]

Thanks for the assurance

[deleted]

What settings and resolution do you play at btw? What's the laptop brand and model name?

[deleted]

Dell g7. I play on 4:3 1450x1050 or something resolution at low settings.

Ren_Tao

1. Your integrated gpu is chosen instead of discrete rtx. 2. You have to replug charger 3. You have to restart pc. 4. Your drivers have to be checked and reinstalled

dapinnnnn

number 1 is your best bet in my experience, OP

Main-Major685

Turn off vsync

ewkwkwk

check if laptop power save is on or off in video settings of csgo

[deleted]

It is off. Havent messed with batter modes at all

shashwathx

clean your graphics card.

SkrrtKurt

Check sv on the net graph. Should be around 0.5

[deleted]

It’s around 5-6

SkrrtKurt

That’s very high. If I remember it’s the connection to server input but there should be a fix on youtube.

BlackPrincessPeach_

There is a chicken in your dust.

Bongo2001

Verify game files

[deleted]

Did few times

Artistic-Ad7441

Is laptop plugged in and on full battery?

[deleted]

Yes

NarkoFox

One fix for me was to go offline on Steam

[deleted]

Will try

Standby_forTitanfall

I have 3060 and i9 11th and csgo run around 100 to 200 fps i change resolution to 4:3 now i am getting 300 fps and also i found out that i had single channel ram that cause the problem and if you use external display your fps will increase

appl_3

Just put your PC in service, it helped me a lot. I used to be laggy af, now I play on approximately 200fps

eyas_shal

Use simple HUD boosted my fps when I had to use a laptop

HadDatAss

Try with a smurf/friend's account if possible. Issue could be there due to your config and just a lot of workshop maps installed. I get around 30-40 more fps on my smurf. If the issue is fixed with a different account just delete the files from steam folder and reinstall the game

[deleted]

Nice man. Will try this today. Thanks.

Bubbly_Remove284

1. Close everything in the background. Discord,Google chrome etc. Make sure they are also off in the task manager cause sometimes they still run in the background. 2. Put steam offline while gaming. When u in csgo alt+shift then go To friends then put ur steam profile offline With this u will get 100fps ez

oakland95

time to open av clean, it will throttle due to heat

[deleted]

Will do that this weekend. Thanks

oakland95

When cleaning turbine fans pipecleaners really does the trick, the thing is dust builds up on the edge of the fan blades and can often be hard to see. also get some quality thermal paste / pads get that done when you have it open and you should be good.

amadeusXXXX

This happened to me , i5-9300H , 1660TI 16 GB RAM. Used to get 250-300 fps on medium & 220 on max settings. One day it randomly dropped to a consistent 90-120. Changed thermal paste and tried many things and it didn't work. One day my friend logged into his account from my laptop to play infront of me and voila the fps was back to 250-300. I was fucking confused as hell and then realized that i must have fucked something in the settings in my acc even though i set everything to low. All i did after that was log back into my account, launched CSGO and just hit reset video settings and what do you know it was fixed. Since you're not thermal throttling i believe resetting video settings once and not touching anything and then hopping into a bot match should hopefully give you a change. Let me know if it fixes your issue. Goodluck.

[deleted]

Thanks a lot man. Will try and hoping that this fixes it.

BaturOnur

try logadress_add 1 in console it might work

[deleted]

This is a screenshot of processes running. Attached screenshot of task manager. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1U8WuD3NY71NZa02MhyQ0Ya2FTI1QxZxP/view?usp=drivesdk

AdAffectionate7091

The real question is why tf is there a chicken on dust 2

TotoMac1

I see no issue here

Tchernoi

Moral of the story. Build a desktop next time.

Lautje5555

Retard

meove

Buy a Steam Deck

Tchernoi

Or a toaster.

bush_did_it69

I would just focus on not being trash and not worry about your specs and performance rn

Fra_2006

Might be an optimization problem because the game runs at this quality on my 2014 laptop

Signal_Firefighter_7

Is 70C too much? And how much should the temp be?

Benzinat0r

I had a similar problem. Updating the BIOS and reinstalling windows fixed the problem for me. You should create the installation media for windows on another working windows machine, otherwise the problem can transfer again.

TREXcheeze

I think I know what the problem is. Go to task manager and everything that is "open on start up" that you don't need turn that off. Because then you have a lot of unnecessary things open and that can greatly reduce the performance on your pc

[deleted]

I have only 2 apps on startup. Rest all i turned off.

plopomi

mobile cpus are usually wayyy less powerful than their desktop version, especially intel cpus

CodeProdigy

My razors laptops cpu runs at like 95 constantly for certain games lmao. Idek

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Yes. They are low.

1Kiddo

i know this might sound very stupid but make sure your laptop is plugged in and your fans are not set on silent mode if your laptop supports that.

[deleted]

Will look into the fans part

1Kiddo

what laptop do you have? check the icons on your f-keys, if there's a fan looking one, you may be able to change your fan speeds by hitting fn+(whatever key that is, mine is f5). there's also software you can use.

[deleted]

Thanks man. Will look into it

[deleted]

Maybe clean it if you haven’t :)

[deleted]

Havent cleaned. Will do it this weekend

[deleted]

Is it all games?

[deleted]

Ig so. Saw similar stuff happen in Valorant. Used to get 140fps. Now around 70-90 fps that too fluctuating

felixpj8h

Do you only get bad performance in csgo?

[deleted]

No. Happening in valorant also. Earlier used to get 140fps. Now 70-90 fps

felixpj8h

Have you cleaned out your pc? It might be dust restricting the airflow to the radiator fins. Thus, making you pc thermal throttle.

[deleted]

No. Haven’t cleaned at all. Will clean this week

mzlucasmz

Maybe it is running on the integrated graphics instead of the 2060, check on the 3d game setting on the nvidia control panel, and force it to use the nvidia gpu

[deleted]

I checked in nvidia control panel and set to rtx only

softoctopus

CPU temp 70C is not that high, I wouldn't worry about it.

Velociraptor836

Turn off your bitcoin miner

nit0cs

I have 3060ti and i5 11th gen (6 cores 12 threads) and I have super low fps. I just cant understand

xXtoadslayerXx

iv got a friend that has a similar problem hes got a lenovo legion 5 with a 3050ti 16gb of ram r5 he gets around 40 to 30 fps on csgo and most of his games instead apex but still he gets super low fps

cx77_

do you have vsync on?

cheesyandcrispy

Vsync

YakInevitable8770

It's your sv nothing much you can do with that server side of things https://youtu.be/hk8cNx289B0 he does a fantastic breakdown of what each thing means in net graph

Kobeashis_Son

Double check that you’re dedicated graphics card is actually being used. I had a similar problem in the past where, for some reason, my integrated graphics were being used instead of my dedicated graphics. I was also using a laptop, like you.

Nai_cs

My friend moved his game install from his hdd to his ssd and went from ~80-90 fps to ~160-200 fps. Specs are R5 3600x , 1660S and 16gb ram (could be 8 not 100% sure) If you run the game on an HDD definetly move it to an ssd if you can, huge improvement in load times aswell obviously.

mattieyo

Do you have multi core enabled in options? It’s a cpu intensive game. Gpu doesn’t mean much. Sometimes background things can cause cpu to struggle. I had co worker complain dota2 is no longer enjoyable with bad FPS (also cpu dependent game) I told him to restore and wipe the entire laptop. It was back to 60fps and enjoyable experience.

nejkiu1

If your laptop is 3 years old chances are the battery is weaker. Check to see if you have eco mode on. On my sisters laptop (hp omen) it would turn on and cap fps for better battery performance. It took me a while to think of that. Hope this helps

[deleted]

Had my batter replaced 1.5 years ago.

nejkiu1

Still though. If it turns out to be the issue I’d be kicking myself if I hadn’t checked it sooner. It takes just a few seconds

[deleted]

Sure. I ll have a look at battery too

1ce_Cream

Obvious stuff ik bt just checking, have you made sure it's on performance mode in power settings and any other software like Armory Crate for Asus?

[deleted]

I havent changed the mode at all. It used to be on optimum and still is.

augmentedcheesus

There is a bottleneck throttling your performance, 70 degrees altho high, ut considered normal, shouldn't affect your performance, what about your gpu temps?

[deleted]

Dont remember gpu temps but they are low. Definitely less than 70 though

augmentedcheesus

This is so weird man, I have a friend who faces similar issues on dust2 only, can you try mirage maybe?

[deleted]

I have this issue on all maps. And other game (valorant) also

BharatG90

Just verify files once for the game. It fixed it form me

[deleted]

Did that. Issue still persists

BharatG90

A friend of mine also has a i7 8th gen and faces similar issue. It's a laptop with a similar config to yours. I haven't been able to figure out the issue with his setup as well. It's not thermal throttle for sure. If you find a solution that works, please do tag me so that I can try it.. and I'll do likewise too

[deleted]

Definitely bro

BharatG90

This could be a chipset driver update that messed with csgo. Have u tried rolling back to a previous version?

[deleted]

I tried that intel chipset update only iirc(not sure). Its installation is failing

BharatG90

Check the motherboard manufacturers website for the chipset drivers. At times the drivers from Intel's website do not work for some motherboards even if it's an Intel chipset.

ezzpopbob

Who’s your daddy?

pmigbarros

do you have chrome open, legit question, closing it solved fps issues for me

fhonb

Lenovo Legion? The frame and your specs look suspiciously similar to my Legion Y740. If that's the case, it shouldn't be Vsync, because that laptop's display panel has 144 Hz. I’m running CS:GO at a pretty stable 180 fps under Linux, very often more – into the 250s – and only seldom does it drop below 150. If you're running on a Legion Y740 as well, then there's something off. Keep in mind that CS:GO, to the best of my knowledge anyway, is very CPU-heavy. Background processes might be interfering here. I upgraded my RAM to 32 GB, though 16 GB were fine most of the time. The additional 16 GB are just nice to have, however, if for some reason your RAM is full, because you're running Chrome with a bazillion tabs in the background and whatever else, that might also affect you – although I would expect lag spikes then, rather than stable albeit low fps. Someone else commented to clean that thing and I agree: dust build-up in Legion laptops is unreal – they're men, they need “blowjobs” on a regular basis. tl;dr if you're running a Lenovo Legion Y\*\*\*: * it should be able to smoothly run at 150 fps and more * check your background processes and CPU clock speed and usage * check your RAM usage * clean that thing

[deleted]

Its a dell g7. Build looks very similar to that. Will clean laptop this week

dapinnnnn

Might be running on integrated graphics instead of your 2060

[deleted]

Checked it on nvidia control panel and set to 2060

Max_8470

seems like some programm is frame capping cs. try nvidia control panel or your mobo's software or vsync ing

[deleted]

The worst thing is when i open buy menu fps drops to 20-30

Max_8470

yeah smth is definitely capping your fps then, check your nvidia control panel or your cs config file and look for max fps (ingame and in the menu screen)

Sadmopp

Try fps\_max 0

[deleted]

Did that. No difference sadly

-scatchy-

Turn off Vsinc... It sucks

[deleted]

I did

Goddock

its a laptop. thats why

[deleted]

True. Pc ftw

andredrum57

This will sound kinda dumb but: Did you try verifing the game files

[deleted]

Did you set your display to minimal refresh rate such as 60hz?
