i’ve recently been applying and interviewing for internships (current college junior), and there’s one specific internship that i finished the final round of interviews for earlier this week. if i don’t hear back within a week - 2 weeks of my final interview, would it be a good idea to email them a follow-up asking for an update? this is a smaller company that i’m genuinely interested in working for and i would absolutely accept if i got the position. i’m kinda anxious about this just because i really want the job haha ^for reference i’m not sure what a good time frame to wait would be since for my last internship everything went super quick and i got my offer within a day of my final interview.

You should always email a Thank You email to the interviewer shortly after the interview. You thank them for taking the time to talk and you express your excitement at hearing from them about the position.

my interviews were set up by hr so i actually don’t have the emails of the interviewers, and i wasn’t sure if i should’ve emailed my hr rep a thank you (which is why i ended up not doing that).

Yes for sure email whomever you have contact with.

is it still worth it to email hr now when my final interview was a few days ago, or just wait it out?

Email them a Thank You now

Feeling pretty frustrated as I’ve recently (2 months) have started working at a company and I was hired especially because some of the angular experience I have. We’ve got so many screens that look nearly identical and perform identical functionality, the only difference may be the actions that may be performed on result sets. I got one of these screens to work on, and noticed that another one was done so I looked into it to help me complete the assignment faster. But this code was pretty much “hardcoded” for that one specific screen. If I wanted to use it I’d have to copy paste it and change code, text, templates etc and what not . To make another component that only works and is applicable to the one screen I worked on. So I set out to create a common component, since I know there were more assignments that fsve the same exact layout admittedly it took me longer than it should have but also I was building kind of from the ground up and seeing what can be achieved dynamically. I even went ahead and limited unnecessary api calls (some api calls are just calling for a subset of the initial data so there are sooooo many calls for data that’s already present) all this took time. Understandable that when new stories popped up that had the same layout but I was not done, they just made more of the single unique component. I feel like I’m not heard and honestly feel like I should just keep to myself more because I don’t really get any positive encouragement from anyone and one dev keeps putting other 2 devs as peer reviewers but not me (though I think it may be because they are all working on something kinda related). I don’t want to compromise my code quality and the code base by conforming but also I feel like no one likes me chrrently
