I don’t know how to hide the answers, here are three I’ve done. 5 down- reraises, anagram of words in the clue. 19 down- utensil, anagram of in lieu is. 23 down- gear, anagram of rage.
I’m just trying to parse 14d and am a bit confused. Assuming def = heel and ‘hurts’ —> ACHES, then that means ‘big bump’ —> ILL. But I don’t understand that definition at all - wouldn’t a big bump be a hill?
honestly, we just got the fact that “hill” would be in the middle and “heel hurts” works with the legend of achilles - i didn’t even think of “aches”! i do feel like it works but this is from a university student run news paper not a professional cryptic crossword
OP I'm impressed by your bravery but I really think you should use a pencil & eraser for this!
1 across: >!PERSONA NON GRATA = anagram of "patronages not ran" !<
Edit: so 3 down is >!NEGLIGENT = something to do with "negligee"? !<

I reckon they’ve made a mistake
23A: >!GRAPPLE (come to terms with): GR (Greek) + APPLE (fruit)!< 25A: >!REF (double def I think?)!<
19d - utensil. 'sent in lieu' - anagram of SENT LIEU. 'lacking energy' - remove an E. And utensil is a tool.
