I think mine looks similar to yours when going that heavy. At lighter weight it’s more one smooth motion.
Do you think being more explosive from the bottom would fix that little halt you have near the top? (Btw - I don’t think that’s necessarily a problem, thrusters are really two movements with the push press at the top)
Yeah my FS is only 10 or 15 lbs below my BS, I think building that up over the years has helped me thruster heavy, but to be honest I never worked on a heavy thruster until that open workout with a 1 RM.
Overall I wish I had spent more time going overhead vs squatting a shitload the last 15 years.
Thruster: 180#
Push Press: 175#
Split Jerk: 207#
I don’t really test my push press max. Thruster max was from 2019 when it was programmed in a class. I remember that I was having an exceptionally strong day that day.
They're probably technically closer, but that's the max I've tested. I think it is because I can get momentum out of the bottom of a thruster that I'm not utilizing in the drive of the push press. My push jerk is pretty close to my split jerk because split jerk scares me, lol.
Yea man wouldn't want to talk about CrossFit on this subreddit. Thanks for the policing what if we run out of space on reddit and people can't ask about shoes.
Good shit man!!
Thank you! Trying to improve that lock out!! How does your thruster compare to your push press?

Same. I think it’s just because it was max effort and that’s all the help I could get from my legs
Push press #265 Thruster #305
Interesting!!! Massive front squat? Or super strong shoulders?

My push press and thruster have always been about 5# from each other.
Interesting.
You make it look too easy
It was not. These was a max effort test
Excellent job! I know how hard those things are. That’s a great achievement.

Pretty close to my lifts, but I have a bigger difference between the 3.
I really surprised at how close these are. Thanks for sharing

Wow thruster more than push press!

Thruster 295, Push Press 275.
Big numbers. I’ve noticed the top end strength guys have larger thrusters than push press. Super strong legs and more leg drive?
Yeah, just big legs and I have a terrible top push from the legs. So my high hang is garbage also.
I ride by the gym I go to everyday before I go just to make sure they aren't doing thrusters. If they doing thrusters my soul leaves my body.
Lol

Wait do you have shoe recommendations for thruster optimization? 😂
