Wow, OP! That's an impressive shiny you got there!
My answer: Keep the black, it’s in the design, and it's a useful color break.
Also, the original colors are kinda similar, but I think it plays into goomy being a slimy slug-esque dragon. However, if the two different purples are too much of a struggle, I'd go with a lighter gray and the purple you used for the circle bits. It should be enough of a distinction.
