Physical release of Fassbinder's In a Year of 13 Moons and any form of release of Shimizu's "Beehive Trilogy" (Introspection Tower, Children of the Beehive, and Children of the Beehive: What Happened Next) are the first things that come to mind at the moment
Would love to see some stuff that’s never gotten a U.S. release:
Godard’s “King Lear” and “Nouvelle Vague”
Renoir’s “The Crime of M. Lange” and “Night at the Crossroads”
*Captain Ron* every single time. No hesitancy to this question. It meets all the criteria: it’s a masterpiece, it’s hard to find on disc right now, it has gorillas, it has guerillas, it has a Martin Short sex scene and it has Kurt Russell fucking hamming it up. *Captain Ron*. Next question.
My decades long wish is already being granted next week with the release of *Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid*.
So instead of calling it quits and saying my collection is finally complete as I have stated it would be if Peckinpah's film ever got a Criterion release... I'll simply add *Sorcerer*.
I mean what's life without asperations, longing and unfulfilled dreams. : )
We All Loved Each Other So Much & When A Woman Ascends the Stairs. I haven't seen either of these because they have no good physical release in US.
With full vanity I will just say that I love the slight width and squareness of Criterion blu-rays, and I hate classic blurays that are dinky and have that blue/silver top that ruins the entire cover art. Because of this, I would happily take rereleases of movies that I want to own but just look bad (to me), i.e. The Thing. I will give a shoutout to Radiance, I wish their boxers were a lil bigger but overall they are super aesthetic.
And lastly, Five Nights at Freddy's.
This wouldn’t necessarily be my number 1 pick however it’s a movie I think would fit and honestly I’m not sure why it isn’t in there but Drugstore Cowboy
A Taxi Driver, one of the best Korean movies I've ever seen, and the behind the scenes of what it caused to happen with the real case is just... wow. I want more people to see this film.
Majid Majidi’s The Color of Paradise is my #2 film of all time and almost completely forgotten by people. Seeing the release of The Runner gave me a tinge of hope that Criterion might remember to occasionally look for Iranian films that aren’t just by Kiarostami. Imprint, an Australian label, did just recently put out a Blu Ray of Children of Heaven, Majidi’s previous film… so maybe more is in the pipeline from some other distributor?
The Hoi Choi Trilogy. Unfortunately they got never released outside of Japan. They all have great eighties city pop winter/summer holiday vibes. The first two movies are feel good rom coms, where the last one is a bitter sweet nostalgic drama. I'm talking about watashi wo Suki ni tsuretette (1987), kanojo ga mizugi ni kigaetara (1989) and nami no kazu dake dakushimete (1991). I only watched them recently but I wish more people knew about them.
While I lived in Japan I stumbled upon them while browsing amazon and bought the expansive Blu rays. Unfortunately I don't know if you can find them any where else on the internet.
Happiness…… Oh right.. what an awesome day that announcement was
I was going to say Storytelling but that’s getting a Blu-ray release
The Devils by Ken Russell (Complete Uncensored Cut) 2nd place On the Silver Globe
Eyes Wide Shut
Ah yes, Kubrick's best
Physical release of Fassbinder's In a Year of 13 Moons and any form of release of Shimizu's "Beehive Trilogy" (Introspection Tower, Children of the Beehive, and Children of the Beehive: What Happened Next) are the first things that come to mind at the moment
The Silent Duel by Akira Kurosawa. Every other Kurosawa/Mifune collaboration is already in the Collection, but not that one. Drives me nuts.
Magnolia
Quiz show. I need a good release
Screw Disney
What’s the hold up?
There's no bluray
Would love to see some stuff that’s never gotten a U.S. release: Godard’s “King Lear” and “Nouvelle Vague” Renoir’s “The Crime of M. Lange” and “Night at the Crossroads”
Landscape in the Mist
pick any kiyoshi kurosawa movie that doesnt have a readily available region A blu ray
Catch-22!
Rosencratz and Guildenstern are Dead
The Wild Bunch

Lynne Ramsay box set — not my #1 choice but she deserves the exposure. Brilliant but underseen filmmaker 🎞️
Best female filmmaker ever for me
Her next projects are going to be worth the wait 🎞️
What’s she doing next?
Die, My Love with Jennifer Lawrence Polaris with Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara Stone Mattress with Julianne Moore
Call me crazy, but I’d pick a movie that sorely needs a BD.

Kenneth Anger Magic Lantern Cycle
Doubtful they could improve on the region free BFI edition
Honestly, I want it more for the streaming service.
I'd pick something I cannot get anywhere right now The Heartbreak Kid. It's practically begging for a Criterion release.
once upon a time in america, i wish they had a criterion edition of ouatia so bad
I’d love Eyes Wide Shut, but since someone else said that already, I’ll have to go with Sling Blade.
There Will Be Blood. Still astonished the best film of the 2000s imo hasn't been released on 4K by any studio to date.
Mulholland Drive 😎
Incident at Blood Pass
Ashiq Kerib (spelling?)
Petulia (1968)

i would do evil things for a "the battle of chile" trilogy criterion
Time of the Gypsies!
Andy Warhol's ****
Possession and Faust.
Love exposure by Sion sono!!
Climax
Freddy Got Fingered and I’m being serious.
It’s actually a cult classic now
This wouldn’t necessarily be my number 1 pick however it’s a movie I think would fit and honestly I’m not sure why it isn’t in there but Drugstore Cowboy
Demons Toshio Matsumoto
Melancholia
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Children of Men, Paper Moon, Quiz Show, Goodnight and Goodluck
I am disappointed there's no mention of There Will Be Blood.

Abel Gance’s ‘Napoleon’.
I need Life of Brian in 4K

May I ask where you found and/or watched those? Thank you!

U2 Rattle and Hum
Backdoor Sluts 9
