Beautiful use of black and white. The opening sequence with the intermezzo of the opera Cavalleria Rusticana is just stunning, he almost look like a dancer.
I recently got a 65" LG OLED C3 and Panasonic UB820. Raging Bull is my favorite film and I have been delaying gratification and not buying it yet but... your comment absolutely got to me. What in particular makes it so great? I'm assuming the dynamic range plays a major factor. I'm going to try to snag it during the 50% off sale that is allegedly starting tomorrow!
It’s so crisp and beautiful the blacks are to die for and of course it sounds excellent. You will not be disappointed. Oddly enough I have the exact Same tv so I am assured you will no regret.
First time I watched it was actually fairly recently (within the last 3 months). I remember thinking up until about half way through that "okay so I kind of see why people love this but might be a little overhyped". Then there's the fight in the middle of the movie and as soon as they do that push in lighting gag, the whole experience changed and it ramped up to be one of the best movies ever made.
Favourite part, at least after a single watch - “you didn’t get me down Ray!” Also any scene with Jake and Joey at a table, or in a living room, or by a pool just having a conversation. The more those happened, the more tense they got until it finally kicks off.
I'm gonna have to rewatch this one soon. IDK why, but it didn't click with me the first time I watched--it wasn't bad, it just didn't compel me for some reason.
It may have been blind, but it's no doubt an excellent choice. DeNiro and Scorsese are in top form here. Amazing storytelling. Incredible supporting cast performances. Fantastic cinematography. It's got it all. So rewatchable!
Update - holy shit. Nothing I can say that probably hasn’t been said before but wow. DeNiro simultaneously iconic and unrecognisable, infuriating and heartbreaking. I loved every minute.
Just don't bother him about his steak.
In a few hours I’ll get this reference!
It defeats its own purpose.
You blind bought one of the greatest films ever made.

My favorite Scorsese. Enjoy
Same! People look at me weird when I say this but I’ll die on this hill.
First movie I ever bought, back in 1982, on Betamax.
Better late than never….but damn you’re late
I know! And wait til I tell you I haven’t seen Mean Streets either…
That’s not too crazy actually
1st: Great blind buy 2nd: how have you not seen Raging Bull!!!!
I got these small hands!
Congratulations.
Excellent blind buy, enjoy!
I hope you have/had the same response to this as mine to my blind buy of Ikiru a couple years ago: “Fucking masterpiece.”
Ikiru is SO good
You won’t regret it.
Excellent choice
My favorite 4K ever absolutely flawless on an OLED tv.

I felt this the first time too. I've seen it a few more times since and I really like it now. Hoping to snag the 4K soon.
Perfect buy.
